The person who he had so willingly taken the life of -- or at least quite nearly did, if it hadn't been for getting intercepted by Pendour -- without another thought to protect himself and prevent himself from needing to work harder. As he watched her start off, it was a strange, stark reminder of what the Negaverse expected of him. Even if it wasn't taking souls, it was draining people to how exhausted Pendour looked, to even more exhausted than that as Nectaris witnessed by the unconscious body.
It was strange.
"No," was his response, when she asked.
It felt good. It had funneled his frustration.
But did it feel good, or did he still just feel lost afterward?
"Temporary break." The victim was beginning to stir. "No real resolution to any of this."
And he was gone.
