“...Right,” Alastor said, and pursed his lips together for a moment more, and then finally accepted the book. “Well, that’s the thing, I suppose. If Percy thinks it’s important for you to see, I’d trust him with anything. Although, I would think there were more important memories for you to have. All of those sacred Sessrumnir rituals and all.”
He didn’t move on the ladder immediately, instead he leaned against it and seemed a bit contemplative.
“But then, there are probably a lot of memories with me in them. I did distract him quite a bit. Don’t hold it against me. Actually,” he had just moved to put the book away but turned back again to face Sessrumnir, “I suppose I should apologize in advance. Just in case. I don’t know what you’ll see. Well–no, I mean. I have a very good idea of what you’ll see, if you see it. I have a good memory, that’s not it. I’m not really worried about any of it.”
And then, the whole thing seemed to amuse him so much that he couldn’t help but laugh about it. “You may have to be careful, I don’t know what Percy might choose to show you. But I hope you get to see a lot of good memories, Michael. He was wonderful.”

Sacred Sessrumnir rituals that were likely going to be lost to time, since there was no one to perform those rituals for, anyway. He supposed the rituals for the Wonder itself would be a good thing, but he hadn’t seen any so far.
He made another silent expression of acknowledgement when Devyn warned him about being careful. But really it was difficult for him to not just be amused by all of it. Amused and a little guilty for witnessing memories that only half belonged to his past life.
Maybe he could find one of those memory orbs Ganymede apparently had that was made at Sessrumnir for Liesel as a gift from Serge. He didn’t know much about it, just that it held memories she received. At least according to Chris. Until he found one, though, there was no point in mentioning it to Devyn to get his hopes up about seeing Percy again. Even if it was just in a memory.
“I hope I get to see a lot of good memories too. Did you… ever do anything for education in this room?” he wondered, still gently teasing as he glanced around. “Maybe I should see if Percy would be willing to share.”

“Well, it’s a library, Michael. Of course we did educational things here. Like, you know.” He gestured to the books on the shelves below him. “Read.”
But, the smile was still dancing on his lips, and his brows were furrowed like he might have been trying very hard not to laugh again. He glanced around, scrutinizing the dimensions, trying to imagine this room as it had been a thousand years ago.
“Actually, I don’t remember this room too much. I don’t know what we did in here. If you think about it too hard, he might actually show you something. So be careful what you wish for, Percy might give you more than you bargained for.”
He pushed the books on the shelf together, gently so that they didn’t get hurt, but just to make as much room as he could. The top shelf was almost completely full, but a survey of the books on the ground meant they still had a lot of work to go.
And yet, he really didn’t mind. He even looked like he was enjoying himself. He could have done this all day. Even if it was probably going to be time for a snack after they finished this pile on the ground.

Sessrumnir snorted softly in amusement. It was difficult not to be in a good mood when Alastor looked like he was having a good time. Whether it was just talking about Percy or helping to clean up the place, Michael was glad he’d asked Devyn to help him. With him there, the place felt less of a tomb.
In a way, maybe it wasn’t so much that Sessrumnir itself felt that way, but the heaviness in his heart made it like that. He’d already noticed that his heart felt lighter with Devyn there. Or maybe it was just because he was lonely, and it had nothing to do with Devyn himself.
“Sweet, innocent, vulnerable Percy might give me more than I bargain for?” He couldn't help but laugh now, if only because it seemed silly to think that the same bright eyed young man in his memories, and in the locket Devyn showed him, would do anything so scandalous as show him something he might regret seeing.
“Maybe I will try to think hard about it. Just to see what he gives me,” he laughed, passing a few more books up. They were making good progress, and it wasn’t too difficult to move the ladder to other parts of the room to fill the higher shelves up. The books were probably safer up there, anyway.

Devyn laughed richly, like the idea just tickled him. “You like to live dangerously, Michael? Well, I suppose I can’t feel bad about it if it happens then. But just remember that you were asking for it, so I won’t apologize for it when it happens. And you can’t judge me for it, either.”
If he’d been any sort of morose or disappointed about seeing the library, or Sessrumnir, in this condition, it seemed at least temporarily resolved. He had expected some heaviness in the area, or to be struck with memories he wasn’t ready to handle, but…
This was nice.
Being here with Michael, and Princess, was nice.
The Wonder was in disrepair, but it wasn’t hopeless. There were things they could do. And, when they got all the books off the floor, maybe Devyn could go find a broom or something. Work out the rest of his energy.
Although, all this stretching and moving kept him placated at least.
He knew this was only one room, but even if it was only one room at a time it was still something.
And, anyway, he’d gotten to talk about Percy. How could he be in a bad mood with the state of things when he got to dwell in pleasant memories?
And, to be honest, make new ones.
