[4/7 Morain]

Morain tugged his hand back, realizing he was just poking at his dad out of nowhere, and instead moved back a respectable distance, expression conflicted. People just... didn't sprout feathers out of nowhere! They just didn't, and yet here their papa was looking like some half plucked bird - skin reddened in places, and expression miserable. Growing up, there hadn't been a lot of situations where their parents were dumbfounded by something, at least not that they'd let their children see. To be allowed in to see it, just this once, either was a sign they were growing up and having more trust placed in them, or...

Or their parents were just really, really freaking out about all of this.

"It sounds like it." He confirmed to his brother, rubbing his hand against his chin, pensive and shocked.

(4/7 Nimueh)

Well, at least there was that. Nimueh was captivated by inspecting the skin, the feathers... but the bodily flinch that shot through Callum's body when Morain reached out was what finally made it clear that Callum was uncomfortable. Instead, Nim reached up to gently pet back his fluffy hair, leaning in to chastely kiss Callum's forehead, before drawing back to give him some clearly much needed space.

It meant, however, that all three hybrid men were standing, staring at Callum, which he wasn't sure was much of an improvement.

Thankfully, the two boys began to talk, cryptically, to each other, and finally Nimueh crossed his arms, looking between them expectantly. "Okay, enough vagueness. What did you hear? Another Yaeli superstition? Siel."

Siel side stepped just enough so that when he craned his head he could get a better look at the feathers. Even when his papa pulled back the taller hybrid squinted, determined to see something that would give him a clue. When Nimueh stepped closer, forcing the two boys to edge back, he was left to ponder things. He'd heard so many rumors and stories over the past couple of weeks that he was able to write a few songs, but this....I mean, there was a difference between songs and reality.

"Gossip, mainly. Rumors about people who disappeared for days or weeks before coming back different." He gestured vaguely toward Callum. "Like they were touched by Gods or spirits or something."

Callum braced himself for more proding, tensed for it even, and was pleasantly surprised to feel his husband's hand fall against his curls. When he looked up his curiosity was quelled momentarily by the kiss. It was hard to remain as uncomfortable after that simply because of the warmth spreading through him. Even if he didn't vocalize it Callum was beyond grateful to have a partner who could read him so well.

Still, that did leave all three watching him and he very pointedly made his way back to the bed, back pressed against the head board. While Callum chose not to hide under the blanket again it was laid out over his lap.

It was the perfect spot to bark out a self deprecating laugh when his son mentioned a blessing by the Gods. What sort of God would bless him? After everything he'd done, all the atrocities he'd seen...And yet....Furrowing his brow, Callum sank chewed on his lip ring. "....There were dreams. At least, I thought they were dreams."

(5/7 Morain)

Morain opened his mouth, ready to hop in and answer their baba's questions - but then Siel's name was called, and he let out a huff, crossing his arms. They'd both heard just as much about the legends around Yael - about people who had changed, drastically, in unusual and sometimes off-putting ways.

To wake up, one day, with feathers felt like it would be terrifying, and yet - his papa pulled them off well. They were pretty, a soft powder blue that made his grey-blue eyes pop. If Morain were an artistic sort, he might want to steal a feather to use as an accessory, if plucking it didn't promise to be painful (considering how they melded into his papa's skin!)

As if sensing his thoughts, Callum retreated back to the bed, and Morain slid out of the way to let him through.

Considering the fact Callum had been missing a week, it was... in retrospective a bit ridiculous they hadn't tied it to the legends previously. But... dreams? A shiver went through him, and Morain tucked himself closer to his brother, expression wrought into a frown. "Dreams? Did you-- were there spirits?"

(5/7 Nimueh)

Nimueh could feel his husband relax, marginally, into his touch, and that was something at least. He couldn't imagine how terrifying it must have been, and... now he could understand the past few days of hiding away in his blanket. He must have hoped the feathers were some strange hallucination, or something of the like. He wanted to grab his husband up and hold him, protectively - but instead he let Callum move away, back to the bed, where he tucked himself in. He looked so vulnerable and small in the bed.

Nimueh turned to the table, trying to adjust some of the plates so they weren't stacked so precariously - though he did sharply glance up when Callum finally spoke again. Should he hush Morain? He had no idea if the dreams Callum spoke of had been terrifying or simply confusing, and it likely wasn't something their sons should hear - and yet he found the same questions on his mind. "I've heard of some of your dreams." Nimueh said, in a gentle, teasing attempt to lighten the mood. "I'm sure they were... very strange, Callum, but if they could give any clue... what happened in your dreams?" Perhaps... visions, more like.

(6 - Siel)

Why was he being put on the spot, anyway? Morain was there too. Just because Siel was louder didn't mean he knew anymore about whatever this was than papa himself!

It all seemed like make believe anyway. Fun stories to pass back and forth between siblings before bed. After all, he'd heard some Yaeli merchant pull her daughter away from Siel because she was afraid that looking at his eyes would make her own cross. How did that even work?

(6 - Callum)

"I don't...really know if they were spirits." Recalling details from dreams was tricky at best, but bits of them came back to him each time Callum closed his eyes. "I thought I'd gotten lost. I was trying to get to the performance and I just kept walking and walking..." He rolled his wrist as he spoke, gesticulating while his mind wandered. "I remember a fog... or was it a mist? Everything blended for a while before they came."

Sitting back a little, Callum rested the back of his skull against the top of the headboard and looked up at the ceiling. "I know I talked to someone, but I can't remember what we talked about or what they looked like. I just know I felt warm and by the end of it the air was clear. It was actually golden, just like Sauti." When he sat back up there was a smile there and an easy sort of smile that hadn't come up since his 'journey'.

(6/7 Morain)

Before... they... came? Morain felt more of those goose bumps, and as awed as he was, he also felt strangely intimidated. His dad looked so HAPPY, and the feathers were harmless, but - it was a supernatural event, proof of something that Morain hadn't really let himself consider much before. He knew gods were real - like Aisha, but he'd assumed none of them had much interest in the people living around them - beyond Aisha and her alkidike.

He swallowed, thickly. "Warm is ... good though. Right? It can't be a ... bad thing. If you felt so happy. Right?"

(6/7 Nimueh)

Nimueh was equally impressed, though thankfully less frightened than Morain was. He did turn his head to shoot his son a gently reprimanding look, then returned his attention to Callum. "Well. I imagine something like a spirit or a god wouldn't understand how their gift could be... a lot... for a normal person to handle." He said, haltingly, reaching out to gently pet Callum's leg through the blanket. "... I can't imagine what you're feeling, but - we are here with you. Always. Feather'd or not." He smirked teasingly at that statement.

[7 - Siel]

"Are you sure it wasn't a demon? What if you entered some kind of contract? Aren't they supposed to make you feel good too?" Sure papa looked okay, outside of the feathers, but...Siel chewed on his lower lip. If it were a God wouldn't they want him to remember? And what kind of god gave someone feathers but not wings?

"It's just...are you sure you're okay?" Since he'd yet to sit down Siel had just gravitated to Morain's side and at some point he'd come to stand behind his brother, hands on his shoulders as he semi-leaned on Morain's head.

[7 - Callum]

"I think it's good." He nodded. For a moment Callum hesitated before ultimately deciding to scootch forward a little. Reaching over, he took one of Morain's hands and placed the other atop Nim's. "That's just it; it's a lot and I...don't like not remembering things." There were too many gaps in his memory as it was and the circumstances surrounding that weren't pleasant. Still, the general feelings he had of those moments were horrific and these were much kinder.

Besides, if it really was a blessing from a deity...He just had a hard time believing he'd ever done anything worthy of that level of praise.

"If it's alright with you can we still keep this quiet for a while? I don't know how the locals will take it."

[7/7 Morain]

What?! A demon?! Morain whined out miserably, running his hands against his cheeks. Thankfully, perhaps, his brother came closer and leaned onto him in what should have been an obnoxious way, but for Morain was soothing at least. "Yes, are you?" He asked, along with his brother.

He relaxed and sighed when Callum said he was - nodding along, absently. A secret - he could do that. It wasn't like he had a reason to go out and yell about his feathered father, right?

(7/7 Nimueh)

... This was a trauma Nimueh understood, well - a worry Callum had expressed to him before. He was relieved, at least, that he'd agreed that this was pleasant, whatever it was.

Then Siel spoke, and Nimueh heaved a sigh, looking at him flatly, raising his eyebrows in a clear 'We'll talk about this later'.

"That's fine, love. We'll keep this within the family for now. I'll just choose to believe that a god-" He stared at Siel, lips briefly pursed, "Decided to give you something beautiful, and leave it at that."
