Painted Moose

(7/7)

It was! Zivah gaped at it, only to laugh when her brother toppled into the river. Seeing the jolt of fear that went through him until he confirmed he had his gem, she shook her head but untied a little pouch from her belt, one that had some bones from hunted beasts, cleaned and prepared the way her mom had showed her.

"Here - hold it in this until we get back." She said, passing it to him in a rare show of sympathy. Then, she sank down to her chin in the water and began to sift about in the mud like he had - eyebrows knit in concentration.

In the end, she didn't manage to find a gem herself - but Imri managed to find more gems, and true to his word he passed her one - a pretty, deep blue one.

It might even be worth sleeping on the floor, and being frozen cold as they waded out of the river again.
