“When a place like that is littered with gossip and shadows it is best to just leave it alone.” Replied Arima with a soft sigh. She had been young when the estate burst into flames, the mobs destroying everything that they could find and even then the soldiers had been slow to react. Now that her son and daughter-in-law were about to visit the estate she could not help but to worry. Hopefully there was something of value there that would help them despite the risks though and Faisal was right that their immediate threat was removed for now. Taking care of the assassin had bought them a couple of days at least before the other family realized that their pawn was missing from the board.
“She would chase you down if you didn’t.” Quipped Arima with a glance towards Faisal as they walked down the twisting stairs from her study and towards the main floor of the estate. Like the family’s manor in Jatine the tower room had been turned into Arima’s personal study, her sanctuary of books keeping her company while growing up in Oba.

“Fair.” Agreed Faisal. His grandmother most definitely would be upset if he didn’t continue filling her in on the details of everything. Even if the older Oban woman was frail, her mind was still sharp and she had so many years of experience on both of them when it came to the politics of Oba. She would probably have some helpful insight for this next excursion and possibly even have an idea of the manor’s layout.

“Faisal.” Arima paused before they approached the east wing along the main floor where her mother kept her rooms. Even though Faisal was in charge of the west wing which hosted the biggest rooms in the estate, her mother kept several rooms alongside their own kitchens where she could be comfortable and oversee the staff. It was in the east wing that portraits of older Obans from their family’s past now glanced down at them, Arima almost thinking they were accusing her of taking another’s place but hoping that they at least supported Faisal for keeping the family name going. “I know that life has taken a lot of unexpected twists and turns for us, but I want you to know that I’m proud of you. I believe you and Sariza can overcome this obstacle and get that happiness back for your sons.”

Faisal stopped as the sudden declaration from his mother made him stumble as it took him off guard. Still, he could only keep his tears to himself before turning around to smile at his mother. “Thank you.” He found himself making a fist to hold up in the air, a childish thing he had done with his brother when they encouraged one another growing up. “We can overcome this and I promise you that I won’t let our family down.” He had a good partner who could fight alongside him now so Faisal was even more confident than ever before that they would find the resolution to benefit everyone and punish those in the wrong.

“Good.” Arima smiled softly as she recognized the gesture. Her child truly had grown up, hadn’t he? He was still her son though and she couldn’t help the pride and love she felt as they both turned to go and visit her mother. Hopefully this conversation would give them the information that they needed and she could go and help by gathering information from healers in the city. Even if she was not connected to the world of politics like her mother and Faisal, Arima would do her very best to help them put an end to this and bring peace back to their family.
