Rainier seemed puzzled at first, brows knitting together in confusion until she read the words on his phone. “Ahh,” again she tried to re-read the phrase a few more times until she was able to commit it to memory.

“Yeah, that would be a reason for concern if you just up and Houdini’ed out of here suddenly. I’ve only witnessed one other do something like that but they dove through a mirror.” Even though her body caught the incident, the case was dismissed since nobody was injured and the evidence was mysteriously destroyed.

“I’m sorry if it’s rude of me to ask, but would you be willing to take me to your wonder at some point? I’d be curious to know how Polaris and Mercury differ.” Considering they both wore fur-trimmed uniforms, she supposed climate wise they’d be quite similar.

The name he said sounded familiar and she wondered if it was Miles who had told her what they were called. It’d been so long since it happened and almost as long since she spoke to Jeremy’s brother that she couldn’t remember. But the group Dark Mirror sounded right, the young man did, after all, disappear into the smooth reflective surface as if it was a vertical puddle on the wall.

“Sounds good. If I manage to find my ring then I’ll reach out to you and we can plan accordingly.” Rainier felt excited by the prospect of doing some other-worldly exploring.

“I appreciate the offer, I think I’m going to take time tonight and visit my wonder before I forget the phrase you just showed me.” Rainier had tomorrow off for work and so there was no rush to return home. “Be safe, and I hope to be able to meet up again with you soon!” The Page of Mercury bid him farewell and watched as he walked away before taking off on her second adventure for this evening.
