Doesina looked down at the bag, seeing very clearly what was probably inside. Without waiting for permission, she bent down to look inside it. A dagger sat on the top. She pulled this out to inspect. Yup. It was a dagger alright. Any more than that and she was lost. So long as it was sharp and did the job, the Elaria was satisfied with her own.
Still....It could use some decorations. A little etching on the sheath always looked nicer than a bland one.
Putting it back, she closed the bag and stood up, clasping her hands behind her back. Her cousin didn't seem too happy with her messing in her stuff. Oops. Sometimes, Doesina didn't think about her actions. She offered a sheepish smile. "Sorry. What about the Earthlings? Some of them use weapons, too."

The Elaria was correct. Heike wasn't happy with someone else looking her in things. But she kept quiet. It was just a bag of weapons she had no use for, there wasn't any of her own stuff in there. She hoped Doesina at least had respect for what was obviously Heike's things.
At mention of Earthlings, the Elidae's eyes widened and she put her hands up defensively, as if she was expecting an attack. "Never!" When Doesina's own eyes widened, Heike lowered her hands and took a deep breath, calming her nerves. She could never work with the Earthlings, no matter how much her own feelings about the world were changing.
"You're awfully....Um....Friendly? For an Elaria."

That surprised Doesina. The quick anger at the mention of Earthlings. Even if a small group had killed Heike's mother, the Elaria didn't think it fair to judge the entire species. There were many nice ones out there. Just like Aishan, everything on earth had it's ups and downs.
"Yes. I suppose I am," she answered rather softly. It hadn't been easy living on Yael with her Elaria Sisters. Her mother had always worked hard to keep her daughter in check. Doesina ad always wanted to run off and go meet the Yaeli of who they shared the continent with. She never understood why they all kept apart. They weren't all that different, were they, when you got down to it. Each shared emotions, likes, dislikes, fears. They were all trying to get through life the best they could. They were all proud of their heritage. So why couldn't she be friends with the Earthlings?
Doesina rocked on her heels. "I guess we bloomed in the wrong places."

That was a bit of an understatement, wasn't it? Heike behaved more like a typical Elaria, while Doesina carried on as if she were born on Kiros instead. But than, every tribe had their black sheep, didn't they? People were too complicated to expect everyone to fit into the culture's ideals.
Well. The conversation got a bit awkward. Heike toyed with the string of beads in her hair, looking everywhere but at Doesina. Maybe her cousin was no different from her, in the end. They both had to adjust to where they had bloomed and who took care of them.
She sighed, letting drop her hand back to her side. "Fine. You can come with me." She'd have to force herself to deal with the others eventually. Why not start with family?

How exciting! Heike had said yes! Doesina had succeeded in her mission of finding her and keeping her around. Her mother and grandmother would be so pleased! If she could pursued Heike into going back to meet them. She must want to meet them, even if she wasn't currently ready to. But that was in the future. Doesina would take what accomplishments she could get for the present.
Her cousin sure was a strange one. She seemed to be fighting internally with herself all the time. But, oh. It was so nice to have some family around her own age. It was nice to have an almost-sister.
