Well, except Aquamarine. The only way Aquamarine would ever betray the Negaverse would be if Jet already had. And there was no way that would ever happen.
“Very well,” he said after a moment, and then moved to stand from his chair so he could move the dagger to a place on a shelf near his desk.
“I already talked to Sylvite about Ochre. I’ll help. Just let me know when and where,” he said, knowing that Aquamarine would give him grief if he knew what he planned on doing, especially when he wasn’t fully healed. Then again, Prehnite would be the one without a head if Aquamarine knew what he’d done.
He paused once more, looking at Prehnite with a thoughtful frown.
“Don’t ever hit me again.”
The warning was there, even if his voice didn’t carry the weight of what he could possibly do in retaliation. Before all of this, he’d respected Prehnite enough to ask him to help with his mission to keep the Negaverse safe. To help with his plot to kidnap a Princess so they could figure out a way to kill her permanently -- none of this rebirth nonsense to deal with later.
Jet had been drawn to Prehnite’s loyalty to the Negaverse, or at least what he thought was to the Negaverse, enough to ignore the droning and lectures. But once bitten and twice shy, Jet felt like he had no choice but to watch his back around everyone if someone he thought was his friend picked the side of a dead traitor instead.
