"They're both still around, yes," Ashanite said. "Both are Captains now. Wavellite's pet Senshi is also still doing...whatever she does."
Ashanite felt a wave of exhaustion, thinking about Xenia. The last he'd heard was about her making some very stupid, very reckless choices in the Rift, and he did not want to think about that for much longer than he had to, so he pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.
"We have a few new team members. Captain Arsenolite. His ex-brother--brought over from the White Moon--Super Monoceros." It was funny to think about--his team was actually quite short on Lieutenants. But then again, that could be considered a point of pride. All of his subordinates were impressive enough to, at least, earn their first promotion.
He should probably call a team meeting, or something. The prospect, however, sounded exhausting.
"In any case....it's good to have you back." That was as close as Ashnaite was getting to an expression of fondness. He felt compelled to undermine it, lest things come close to actual emotions. "I've put a lot of effort into you. Would have been a shame to have that wasted."

"Tell Wavellite to get a ******** leash," Larimar said, with unmitigated derision, "or I'll do it for her, if her ******** Senshi causes me any problems. Both of them should know better." What was a little violent discipline between friends? Not that ze and Wavellite were or had ever been friends, or that ze'd ever been remotely kind to her unprompted (or had any intent of being so to do anything but mock and tease), but what was personal history in the way of a saying? Wavellite had always lost her head over that girl. It was ridiculous then, and it was probably still ridiculous now.
The names - those were noted down, mentally, and probably doomed to be half-forgotten and misremembered. But if they were tagging along together, as ex-brother implied, that might be easy to bring to mind. "Then I'll see him around, I assume. Eventually." There were only so many active Captains in Destiny City (admittedly, Larimar didn't actually know what that number was), after all.
"You're welcome for my dazzling presence," ze said, and leaned into a half-assed mocking little bow, "and my saintly willingness to do coffee runs in the future, again. You're never going to be ******** rid of me."
That was... probably affectionate?

"They should," Ashanite agreed tiredly. "At least Xenia's on our side now. And, as I understand, getting additional instruction from another General." Which meant that she was only sometimes his problem.
He shook his head, and carefully stowed the fondness he felt. There was nothing for it; he was proud of the Lieutenants he'd brought in himself and raised up. So many of them were doing so well; Lapis was the unfortunate aberration, but that was, of course, a fixable problem.
"What would I do without you to keep me humble," Ashanite sassed back. "And ensure that I'm caffeinated enough to do my job."

Larimar didn't say anything further about Xenia and Wavellite, but the curl of zyr lip meant ze didn't need to. Further verbal emphasis was pointless when the two of them were in agreement, anyway; agreement was confirmation, and confirmation meant that track could be put to rest for another day.
"I imagine you'd manage, like you somehow did for two years -- anyway, are we done here?" Nevermind that ze'd initiated the whole meeting in the first place. Larimar had said what ze needed to say, had reassured zemself that Ashanite was alive and just as much of a ******** as he had always been, and had established that ze was just as much of a b***h as ze'd always been -- all in all, a task list well-concluded.
"Oh - and if you spontaneously come into the ownership of new Lieutenants," Larimar said, and sighed, and sighed again, "I am contemplating being a commanding officer. But don't count on it."

"We're done here, unless there's something else you need," Ashanite said. Ah, it really was refreshing to tangle with Larimar.
"And if I do happen to trip over a Lieutenant or two," he said, dryly, "I'll consider sending them your way."
He expected Larimar would be a competent commanding officer. If ze wasn't, well. That problem would be addressed when it came up.

'If I need anything, trust me, you'll be the first to know." Which was a boldfaced lie, mostly, because like ******** was Larimar going to tell anyone ze needed anything unless ze was certain ze was going to get it - or get closer to getting it - by asking. (Not that ze distrusted Ashanite! Larimar mostly just didn't think he'd take a bullet for zem, which was fine.) But it sounded good.
Larimar offered a half-assed salute, almost mocking in its way, and teleported out of the office without any further words exchanged.
