"I think we both were." Admitted Kitya almost sheepishly though her gaze was sharp as she watched Xenia. She wasn't about to say anything else on the matter, was she? The Yaeli woman held back her sigh and settled for taking another long drink instead. If she pushed then Xenia would shove back or worse just leave. I know you're in trouble. She wanted to say but instead she just focused on the glass in her hands, a frown crossing her lips as Xenia continued talking. Their father had such things but his adventures hadn't come at the cost of so many things and whereas he could come home she wondered if the same was true for Xenia. "Anyone can do better if they have the drive." Kitya gave a slight shrug before refilling her glass and Xenia's. "Sailors talk along the docks and flirting about for information is my specialty, you know." Not an outright confrontation but an attempt at a subtle hint before she paused at Xenia's question.

"I had to make coin." Kitya shrugged lightly. "Most of the performers have stage names and Nagini seemed foreign and exciting to the owner. It saves me trouble since I can live as Kitya and Nagini in two different worlds." Less worry that her name could get out there, especially if trouble stirred. "Could you imagine if news came from Oba somehow about Kitya the snake dancer? Mama and Papa would probably have different sorts of fits." Her gaze flickered towards Sia. "The keldari have fun with it at least. You can't tell me that you haven't picked up a nickname or two since going on your adventures, right?"

She lifted her refilled glass in a light salute and took a drink from it. If I have the drive, huh? Xenia had that in spades. There may not have been as many ways for her to use it, but if the Gods gave her breath then she would turn this around. "With the way you dance flirting shouldn't be hard," Xenia murmured into her cup. It was a tease; the first she'd tossed of the evening and it felt...good, in a way? But it also made her more cautious. If Kitya was an information broker then she couldn't afford to give too much.

You're in Oba; they're probably already having fits. The last she'd seen her older sister she'd been in Yael, so what changed? Why was she here when Caolan and Alfina still needed her?

"...Wolfsbane is the most recent one." When she looked up there was a hardness in her gaze that hadn't been there before. If Kitya had truly been around the sailors then she would know it; know the name of the Captain who raided ships, and left their sailors to burn on planks in the sea. All of it had been Indra, of course, but that was part of it. The 'grand charade'.

"Doesn't carry the same ring to it as Nagini, though. I'm sure mama and papa would agree."

Ah, there it was. As tempted as Kitya was to give into the round of sharp quips and teasing, the Yaeli woman was still wary of everything concerning her sister. "Wolfsbane." Repeated Kitya before her gaze narrowed at the sudden statement. "Uh huh." Still Kitya just found herself rolling her eyes after a moment. "I think there's a lot of things that they shouldn't hear about concerning either of us." The mage's fingers tightened around her glass as she suppressed the rising emotions. This was fine, completely fine. Kitya closed her eyes against the swelling tide of energy and then slowly opened them again, glancing back towards Xenia. "Is Wolfsbane in the city for a time or sailing again?" She managed, raising her glass to take another drink.

"Don't think I'm solely here for you." She added sharply before Xenia jumped to conclusions that Kitya was trying to be protective again. Partly true but not the complete story. She thought as she kept her gaze back on her drink, her expression calm despite the painful tightening of her heart in her chest. "I had some rather volatile talents appear so rather than trying to rely on a sanctum of superstitious and frail Yaeli I ventured over here to learn more. It's helped so far and I was hoping to run into you as well. It would be nice to have drinks together on occasion, you know."

"Her crew is here for a job. Could be a few nights, could be a few weeks; hard to tell." Xenia shrugged and knocked back her drink. There were more variables to it than she would have preferred, but a sober Xenia could navigate that fire pit with the best of them. By evening's light she'd be back in the frey, but for now she was keen on not dwelling on it.

At the sharp retort Xenia held up her hands, raising Sia as well. Honestly she'd even forgotten the keldari was even there. "Never thought it." What a joke. Who was the bigger fool here, Xenia or Kitya? It was a fine dance they were playing at, but one that was as obvious as daylight.

After a moment she lowered her hands and sat back on the cushions. "You'll have to tell me about them. My sister has magic; always knew you were special." Through a veil of curls Xenia gave a little smile, just as she had when she was a little girl. It was so easy to fall back into old habits around Kitya that it was hard to keep her guard up. "Maybe we could meet back up here at the end of the week if we're both still in town."

"Mmm. Well I'll be here." Kitya offered before Xenia held up her hands. Her gaze gleamed but Kitya held her tongue at her sibling's response. It seemed that this dance was always going to be a thing between them lately, but it was better than never seeing her sister again. They both had a lot of things to sort through while living overseas it seemed, that much was obvious as the line that they were both dancing around.

"Pfft. Apparently my sister can swing swords quite well too; seems like I'm not the only special one." Quipped back Kitya as she settled back against her cushions and nodded at the suggestion. It seemed that there was some form of truce for now, they both kept the finer details of their current occupations away from the conversation while managing to check in on occasion while Xenia was still in the area. Kitya would accept that for now while waiting to see where their paths went next.
