He was a mixture of emotions. Surprise, confusion, happiness and fear all flickering through his mind as he processed the news. They had been together for so long that he had just gotten into a routine of things without thinking about expanding into a family. Others did that but Uzumati had suffered so many losses in his younger years that it almost made him frightened. What if something happened to their child? Their child. The words rang in his head but then Padma was comforting him. Uzumati nuzzled against Padma, her warmth already calming down his racing heart.
"I'm...." He searched through his emotions before settling on the most prominent ones. "happy, but scared." Uzumati admitted quietly as he rested against Padma, guilt crossing his expression. Shouldn't he be comforting her? She was obviously happy and everyone else in the village had been full of delight when they arrived so why did he feel so scared now? Was he going to be able to protect his family? Could he be a father with so many flaws? Uzumati took a deep breath and closed his eyes against the floating fears. He was so happy that they were going to be having a baby but the reality of it truly was a shocking thing. It would definitely take some time to adjust to the idea, but he supposed that they did have quite some time still considering Padma wasn't showing like some of the other pregnant women he had seen. That was usually a good indicator of when the baby was coming, right?

(9/10) Padma's stricken expression smoothed when he spoke, thankful that he wasn't looking up at her to see it. She responded though by squeezing him and ducking down to kiss his head again, fingers curling gently against the back of his neck. Then, as if reading his mind... "We have time to figure it all out. If Ujana can do it, so can we, right? Right...!" She laughed, a bit weakly but still happily, still feeling almost numb from the revelation.

A rough chuckle left his lips but Uzumati nodded. He loved Padma so much and even now she was his rock, keeping him stable despite his swirling emotions. Uzumati reached around to squeeze her in return before moving so that he could catch her for a kiss. A smile was on his lips as he looked at her, giving another firm nod as if he was finally accepting the news and ready to face the future. "Together." He promised as he let go of Padma so that he could stand and offer her his hand. They would do this together and he would do his best to protect his family! Though...Uzumati's expression shifted with confusion as he looked about. What did they even do first? Did Padma need medicine for this type of condition or was the tea going to be enough? Already Uzumati was thinking of all of the ways he could help Padma out and protect their child. He would fight tooth and nail for their safety and happiness.

(10/10) Yes...! Together! Padma preened happily under his kisses, hugging him back happily. About this time, the healer returned with a basket of goodies, which she handed to Uzumati with a wink. "Alright, young man. This bark is good for fighting nausea - just a pinch of it should do. Don't swallow it now, just give it a chew! And this salt - you want to help her soak her feet when the swelling gets too difficult to manage. And--"
She went through the contents, explaining it all for both oftheir benefit, while Padma watched with growing excitement, sipping at her tea (which was just normal tea, by the way, nothing special about it.)

Uzumati always found it hard to concentrate when someone was spewing instructions towards him but he did his best to follow for Padma's sake. The man nodded as he repeated everything silently to try to better remember it. He would do his best to make sure that Padma was comfortable and would have her rest as soon as they got home. Uzumati found himself feeling a bit excited as well, especially when he noticed Padma's excitement. A small smile crossed his lips as he nodded his thanks towards the healer and took the basket with its goodies. Maybe they would get a ride back towards the forest or he could always have Padma sit on his back so that he could carry her back home.
Either way Uzumati could not help the swelling love in his heart as he kept watch over Padma, prepared to spend the day getting whatever she needed from the village before going back home to rest. They would have quite the busy season ahead of them but Uzumati was feeling confident. As long as they stayed together nothing scared him and he was eager to see what type of child was going to greet them in the future.
