(8/10) ... Oh. Ydalin listened, intently, confused but also fascinated. She knew earthlings were smaller, of course... so the concept of them being different wasn't new to her. Part of it boiled down to 'you'll get it when you're older', although he did at least make an attempt to explain. She nodded, pretending she understood, but already she was eager to run home and ask her mothers about it.
But, like any normal child, she let the topic pass quickly, unaware of any potential discomfort it had given the adult. Instead, she perked up at the challenge, bouncing in place excitedly as she chirped her agreement, only to calm down and instead stand, ready to run, "Race you race you -- onyourmarkgetsetgooo!"
And without giving him a chance to object, she darted forward for the bush.

Oh thank Aisha. That was most definitely something he had not wanted to explain to someone's youngling. Though it made him realize that one day he would have to explain it to his own blooms, especially if they turned out to be boys. Verosh blinked at the realization before being jolted back to reality by the youngling darting off towards the bush.
"Hey!" Still, he did not mind allowing a youngling to win especially since it had saved him from an awkward topic and allowed him to get a helper for berry picking. "Make sure they're ripe enough, the bluish ones should be perfect. If they're still green then leave them be." He instructed before moving to start picking a few for the basket, his mind still spinning with the possibilities of what to prepare. Dolls and sweets seemed to be a common enough thing at least. It was something to start with, that much Verosh was thankful for.

(9/10) Ohhh. That was what she'd meant before by the special berries that made your tummy hurt. The green ones. She nodded, the edge of her little tongue sticking out of the side of her mouth as she concentrated on picking. Her hand wasn't especially gentle, and sometimes stems and leaves dropped into the basket along with the berries. Soon enough, her fingertips were stained blue from shoving berries into her mouth.
They picked berries, with Yda pausing to chirp out something about her classes, about the other younglings that were her friends.
Then, she stopped, hit by a memory. "Once, I found some wood bracelets. But mommy said they were my baby toys. When I was little, she said, my mouth hurt a lot and I loved to chew on 'em. Maybe your blooms can have some too?"

Verosh went along with the berry picking, being surprisingly patient for once as he listened to the youngling's chatter as they worked. When they had nearly filled the baskets the hybrid found himself perking up as she came up with another suggestion. "Wooden bracelets for chewing?" Ah! Teething was a thing, wasn't it? Verosh beamed at the idea. "I'll make certain to get a couple of them, thank you." Maybe they could get some certain types of woods to see if it made a difference for the younglings? Either way Verosh would make certain to ask his father for advice since he was a healer with a knowledge for plants and the like.
"I think we've got plenty now." He finally stated as he glanced back towards the basket. "Thank you for your help. Now can I walk you back home?" Verosh tilted his head thoughtfully as if pondering something. "I can show you some more unique spots along the way if you'd like? An adventure of sorts while going back?" That way it would seem more like a game instead of him simply dragging her back to her mothers who could keep her safe.

(10/10) It felt nice, to see how happy the adult got when she made a good suggestion. She smiled, happy at her success, and only whined a little bit when he called an end to their berry picking. Maybe it was for the best, though, because she felt like her tummy was starting to hurt maybe just a little bit...
"Okayy..." She grumbled, perking up a bit, reluctantly, when he relabeled it as an adventure.
Her home was a humble hut, not properly in the Chibale Isle but close enough - and when she got there, it was her Elarian mother that greeted them. She narrowed her eyes at the older hybrid, nose wrinkled like she'd smelled something unpleasant, and when she grunted out a 'thank you' as Yda happily trotted inside, it sounded like it physically pained her to say it.
