Malcolm didn’t know what food and books had in common but he didn’t care if it made her laugh! He didn’t want the hug to break, but he knew it had to. But she was eating at Evan’s food truck! She knew him! Didn’t know that she knew him, but she had already fallen back into their lives, somehow!
He wanted to hug her again, wanted to confess, wanted to beg her to come back to them.
…He knew it wouldn’t work, though. So, he didn’t.
He just smiled, because she was here. She was okay.
“I really hope you like them. We should have a picnic some time. I think I’d really like to hang out with you. As long as–” he hesitated, “I mean, as long as nobody decides that’ll make me a good target. I don’t want any trouble. But you seem really sweet, so I’d like to be friends.”

Lysithea nodded, so very eager and grew serious for just a moment. “I wouldn’t let anyone target you for anything. I won’t allow you to be hurt, you shouldn’t go after people’s friends anyway…and. I’m strong enough that I could stop nearly anyone who would try, so don’t you worry.”
It was a risk though, she knew that. Any sort of mix of powered and civilian life was a risk but…she wanted the simplicity of the friendship…and damnit. She would have it.
Taking the receipt out of her subspace pocket she handed it back to Malcolm. “Put your email down for me? I’ll make one and be in contact soon!”

He looked at her for a few seconds, touched by her seriousness, and then finally nodded. He had a generic email for his pseudonym on the website, but he didn’t right that down–he wrote down his personal email. “I believe you. You seem really nice. If you say you’re strong, I believe you.”
He knew she was an Eternal Senshi, he just hoped that her newness to the Negaverse wouldn’t affect how much influence she had.
This–this could be good. It was deceptive, he knew. His heart hurt and he didn’t want to lie to her.
…She wouldn’t have accepted him if she knew the truth. He knew based on what Evan had said.
But, between everyone working so hard, something had to work.
…He hoped.
