“
Creepy?” Meridiana seemed genuinely confused by the statement and for at least a few seconds she considered his words. Her attention on the growing orb instead of him, she turned it over in an almost appreciative manner.
This Squire here was the first to so bluntly call her approach
creepy. Most just went along with it, some even going as far as appreciating her attention. Only one had ever broken the magic and hit her for it but that so so very long ago and it was only her basic magic so who really cares.
The generators at the ambush had, however, given her more reason for concern. Handicapped by her limited magic, all she could do was stare in horror when multiple corrupts defected from the Negaverse and one was killed for his decision. Perhaps changing sides amidst an active battle, so publicly, was not the best choice to make; but a part of her could understand the urgency of their need to leave.
“I can think of many who would disagree with your assessment. But…” The corrupt turned her attention over to the Squire, taller than the both of them but his blonde hair rekindled an old memory of one who shared a similar feature. “If you desire to play the chivalrous knight, I’ll let you have your moment.”
Pale strands of hair slipped through her fingers as she then took a step back. “The Negaverse thanks you for your donation.” The energy she gathered was quickly dismissed and with her now free hand, Meridiana touched the other pendant around her neck, the one awarded from the last adventure into the Rift. Form shifted partially into something other but snapped back into human shape before either could so much as blink. Then the medallion relinquished its suppressing power and her aura flared to one equal to the Squire.
A polite bow and then she was gone. Teleported away to some place neither could follow.
