Empyrean stifled a soft chuckle behind one of his neutral expressions.
“You just met,” he pointed out. “There’s no rush to determine that. I think the most important thing right now is to be honest about Percy, and then, if he allows you to, help him pick up the pieces of a life that no longer exists.”
Empyrean did not feel equipped to give advice on starseeds and past lives. More than likely, no one was. As much as Sessrumnir looked to him for guidance, Empyrean’s experiences offered him nothing comparative to pull advice from. All he could do was caution patience — as he did in most things.
After one last comforting squeeze, he took his hand off Sessrumnir’s shoulder.
“You’ve both experienced loss. Start there. Be truthful. Offer him what support he’ll accept. Take the rest of it as it comes. As for starseeds being drawn to one another… I’m sure you’d have better luck discussing something like that with Ganymede.”
Outside, a cold wind blew, whistling through all the cracks in the battered building.

Sessrumnir let out a long sigh, but nodded and showed Empyrean a small smile to show that he appreciated his guidance. He always had. It was one of the reasons why he wanted to be exactly like him. Sessrumnir’s path in the Navy ended up being different than his father’s, and it had been more difficult than he’d expected, but he never felt resentful towards Empyrean. Just himself.
“Thanks,” he mumbled, maybe now feeling a little guilty about attacking Jet, if only because Empyrean felt so strongly on the subject. Even if Sessrumnir thought he was better off dead. He glanced down the hall where Jet’s room was, but shook his head and took a step away from it.
The orb still pulsed with obvious distress, but there was nothing Sessrumnir could do except wait and hope that Alastor was able to work things out on his Chaos filled world, while also battling his own nightmares. --- Jet winced as he tried pulling his injured leg up into the bed. The sandwich was good. Better than the gruel that they could have given him. It had been a little while since Empyrean left with Sessrumnir, and after straining his ears for anything, Jet finally gave up and tried to ignore the pounding in his head. He couldn’t find any blood when he reached his hand back, so he had that going for him at least.
Did you find out anything about the Void? Jet asked, hoping by now that Arles would have figured out something. Not really, the youma responded, which earned a groan of distress from Jet. So nearly getting myself killed was pointless? I wouldn’t call entertainment ‘pointless’, Arles grinned, and Jet scowled.
But before Jet could comment on how he was pretty sure Arles would care less if he actually did get himself killed, Arles added, But I did hear some information that you might enjoy.
