"I'll admit, it's still...taking some adjusting to." The first time she'd seen an elarian hybrid in town was when she'd been out buying supplies with Lucijah. The sight had stopped her dead in her tracks - almost like she'd been hit with a spell - and the look of pure horror on her features could have been comical. The child had been barely knee high, pudgy with youth and undeniably earthling. "Seeing them from others is akin to having a thorn under my nail, but for some reason when I think about a daughter bloomed from you it doesn't seem as strange."
She would still be the same, wouldn't she? At her core? Just as odd and off putting at first as any of those other hybrid children, but Ai found herself wanting the imaginary child all the same.
Ai waited until after their kiss to shake her head. "No adoption; we'll go to Elzira. I fought for my place at her side and...if she truly is accepting of her followers who care for earthlings then she'll us." The aishan raised a hand and flicked the crystal in the center of Lucijah's forehead.
"I can't say what will happen exactly, but we've come this far. I'm not backing down now." She'd already pushed through old prejudices just to have a home with Lucijah and now...well, now she could have a child with her too and she'd be hard pressed to find someone who could stop her.

(9/10) Odds were, they were both thinking of the same incident. Considering the fact Ai hadn't even stomped over to utter threats to the parents, Lucijah would consider that a modicum of improvement. Perhaps that unintentional blanch of Ai's face, when the topic first came up, should have given Lucijah a bit of pause, but that gut instinct shouldn't be weighed more than what she was SAYING, right?
Ai wasn't the sort to lie, to herself or to Lucijah.
The earthling snorted at the flick, but continued to search Ai's face, thinking. This felt like a novel moment... as it should. They were discussing freaking kids, after all.
"You did." Lucijah agreed softly, thinking back to when they'd been reunited, and Ai had told her of feeling... outdated. Ostracized.
How far they'd come, already, huh?
"Then it's a plan. ... Roof first. Then bassinet." She pat Ai's shoulder, squeezing the firm muscle appreciatively - then shuffled in her attempts to slip off the table. "With that ridiculous amount of gold you have, it shouldn't be too hard."

"Goddess, imagine their faces." Ai murmured with an almost positively evil smirk. The younger generation of Zinris may accept their with a warm embrace, but the older aishans - the veterans who ran with Ai - would likely have smoke coming out of their ears. Ai would never think of bringing her blades to Elzira's side, but she wouldn't be afraid of slugging the first sister who had the gall to complain about it.
She'd had countless chances to be a mother over the years - Elzira had always been close, after all - but Ai had always shunned the opportunity. At first she hated the Elaria, then she'd simply been too busy with Fiya and then...time just got away from her, but now...now it felt right.
Instead of letting the shifter slip away, Ai pressed herself closer to the table and Lucijah in turn. She slid her hand away from the earthling's hip to her thigh and yanked. "Where do you think you're going?"

(10/10) Yeah, okay - THAT got a laugh out of Lucijah. Leave it to Ai to get an amazingly petty enjoyment out of this decision. But Lucijah found it just as funny,and didn't blame her for it in the least. It was... startling, to think how far Ai had come. How far they'd come.
"Hey, this means you have to bring me into Zinris now. Maybe I'll get to see their faces myself." Lucijah reminded, teeth bared in a grin just as mischievous as Ai's.
Then, she jumped and stifled another noise with her hand, looking at Ai through eyes that crinkled with her smile, shoving her other hand at Ai's face childishly. "Gettin' off the table, you beast of a woman - - before my rear actually DOES break it--"

"First one that so much as sneers at you break their nose. Then, if we start a fight I can get involved too." Ai knew she was one - if not the - most volatile sister they had and she reviled in it. For the longest time it kept others at bay and hopefully that meant they would be able to do their business in peace.
Just as childishly Ai darted her tongue out to lick Lucijah's hand before reaching out to shove her away. "We're surrounded by trees; I'll gladly build a thousand tables if you give me the chance to break one." Still, it was a nice one...and the process was tedious..."Besides, it's not as if a kid won't mess this one up."
Alk children were rough on furniture and from what she'd seen of earthling brats they were little better. She could just see it now; a pudgy little thing slobbering all over it, white hair and antennae, crystals like her mother...Goddess, how she would have hated that in her youth.
Now she wanted it so bad she was willing to wage another war just to get it.
Life really was a funny thing.
