Vepkhia felt a blush creeping up her neck as he inquired for more information about her research. It heated her cheeks for a moment and she actually considered talking about it, after all, they seemed to have common interests, perhaps he could help. She shook her head slightly as if to clear away the thought. Why was she even embarrassed by her illness anyway? Vep thought maybe her own emotions were feeding off the cough Eudom seemed to do nervously. Mentally chiding herself that her illness really didn't have any place in the conversation unless she wanted to be looked on in pity she moved her thoughts back to the books just in time for him to explain where he found the older volumes.. "I can't imagine leaving books into storage and let them collect dust....to have that many books." It wasn't like she never had books growing up, she definitely had her own nice little stash. It was more like all the shifters near their home shared what they had when they could, including books and other knowledge devices. "Hey uh, I know this is a lot to ask but...do you think.....do you think you could wait to buy some of these older volumes? I'd really like to see what they contain and if they could help me at all." She knew it was a lot to ask of someone she didn't know but she felt like what she needed could be in those older ones!

Ah, so she didn't seem open to sharing. Not that Eudom blamed her since he normally was more reserved as well. They were strangers to one another after all and he wouldn't push her privacy. He frowned before her next statement drew his attention back to the books. "Sometimes when they aren't needed they simply get forgotten over the years. I'm sure the owners never intended for that to happen but new books kept pushing them back. He offered with a small shrug though the Yaeli appreciated the sentiment from the foreigner. It was why he went through so much trouble searching since the forgotten things were what interested him the most.
Eudom's brow furrowed at her question. Wait? The Yaeli opened his mouth to protest before closing it again. It wasn't as if she were making demands and it was still fairly early in the day. Eudom swallowed his sigh before carefully pushing the pile of books towards the girl. "I suppose that's fine. " He finally stated before moving around and settling into the seat across from her.

His words caused her to think, she supposed he was right. It was probably like that for everyone with something. Still, it made her sad to think about books being neglected like that.
Vepkhia's eyebrows rose slightly as the boy sat down across from her. She thought about correcting what he had obviously assumed but it was kind of her fault for not being clear enough right? She resisted the urge to sigh, Vep would just consider it a challenge! Get through the older tomes before Eudom gave up and lost his patience. And considering she didn't know much about this guy that could be five minutes from now or five hours. Vepkhia nodded her head in thanks. "Thank you, I'll try to be quick." She grabbed the first of the older books and started to slowly page through, slowly at first as she started to learn the page format. Then it became easier to scan the pages for anything containing medicinal and nutritional value. "oh..." She said quietly and quickly opened up her own journal and started to sketch the pointy leaf as close to the original drawing as she could.

Eudom settled back into his seat and tried to keep his mind occupied on anything other than the girl sitting across from him. It was hard though for the Yaeli to not notice what she was working on and he found himself slowly inching forward, his elbows leaning on the table as he peered at the sketch. "It looks like the curve should go a bit more inwards." He noted with a small frown as he studied the sketch and the original drawing. It almost reminded him of something that he may have seen before but he wasn't quite certain. Either way he realized that he was doing that thing his grandfather constantly did and Eudom cleared his throat before sitting back, his hand reaching for a book as if that were the reason he had moved closer in the first place.
Lowering his gaze to the pages, Eudom started to idly read as he waited on the foreigner to finish up. Though he did find himself somewhat interested as he studied pages of plants and tried to match them with ones he had noticed in the forest around his farm. His family had apparently settled there generations ago and a lot of the forest was still wild since it was connected to the farm and not any actual town or anything like that.

Vepkhia found her pencil stilling as Eudom offered advice for her work. Her mouth formed a thin line, but not in anger but in concentration as she went back over her work and tried to make the correction. Vep looked back up at him in question after she thought she had it right. She wasn't the best artist but she surely tried! On that note, Vep didn't really have any notable skills since she hadn't really had a chance when she was younger to try and develop any. She shook her head slightly at her own thoughts, now was not the time or place. Her eyes went back to her drawing and started to neatly write the information she most needed. Plant name, commonly found, common uses, how to use. Her penmanship was clean and precise as she made her notes.

Even though he tried not to be nosey it was hard to not take a peek here and there as he browsed through his own books. "I know you're taking notes but are there certain plants you are looking for?" He finally offered as he set down the current book he had been studying. Wouldn't it be easier if he helped her to search through the books? As much as he didn't mind silently sitting there browsing through books together the Yaeli was very time conscious, especially since he still had a hike back to his home. Unless he booked a room at the local inn for the night which he supposed was feasible considering that he could use another day in town to gather more supplies, but still. Eudom pursed his lips as he glanced over at Vepkhia's latest notes, his gaze taking in the preciseness of her penmanship while he waited on her response.

The young woman didn't answer for a few minutes as she finished up her notes on the page she was currently on. There were certain plants she were looking for though it wasn't as if she knew what they were or even what they'd look like here on Yael. Vepkhia sighed, he seemed to like the topic as much as she did so she might as well get some more input while she could. "Yes, actually. So..." She tried to set aside the insecurities knowing she would likely be pitied after this. "I'm looking for some plants that have both medicinal and nutritional values, so obviously something that can be ingested. Or even a few different ones together would be fine. Its more important about the properties they would provide than the actual quantity. Though, I guess I should rephrase since it would be silly to have to have handful after handful of one herb to gain any kind of benefit from it." She flipped through some of her older pages in her journal slowly, unsure if he could even understand her writing.

Eudom raised a brow in confusion. "Don't a lot of plants serve some medical or nutritional value?" What would be so extraordinary that she would have to come all the way to Yael? Unless did the other countries not have medical herbs? Eudom found himself even more confused as he tried to ponder this mystery. What if the other countries were barren or full of monsters like some of the rumors said? Surely they were dangerous lands if the girl was coming all the way to his homeland for aid. Still, he found himself intrigued and the Yaeli stood up so that he could pull his chair closer to Vapkhia and lean over her shoulder.
"Any type of specific effects?" He found himself murmuring in confusion as he tried to study the sketches and writing in the journal before him.

She nodded her head in agreement but thought on her words before she answered. "Most do." Vepkhia conceded again, not feeling the slightest bit uncomfortable with his proximity. "But I'm looking for some that will help to strengthen the body and help provide nutrient balance. Or that's at least what most healers have told me." None had ever been quite sure what was wrong with her, why she was born so small and had always seemed like a fragile child. Most of their diagnosis seem to converge on the fact that her body wasn't strong internally and if she could find some thing that would bolster that innate system that protected her then perhaps she could get better. "I thought about going on the airship to Belrea. They're supposed to have advanced much further in, well, everything than we have on the mainland. But the thought of being on one of those airships kind of freaked me out." She said honestly. Not that he asked but she found the idea of traveling to Yael, especially as her first trip away from home, much easier to handle.

"So a very specific type of plant then." Mused Eudom as he mulled over the information that Vepkhia gave him. Would such a plant exist in Yael? He frowned thoughtfully as he glanced towards the foreigner. One could consider going to get blessed at the sanctum but since Vepkhia wasn't a native he doubted their blessings would have the same force. Did the other countries have similar gods? Did they share gods? There was a lot that he surprisingly did not know about the outside world. Or rather he had just kept a blind eye to it while studying up on his own culture and their superstitions. How was he supposed to know more about these foreign lands when there was still so much to learn about Yael?
"Belrea.." Eudom couldn't help making a face as he thought about the foreign country that was even stranger than the main continent with their flying ships and sciences. The few he had heard about while visiting the main cities were arrogant and thought little of Yaeli superstitions and customs. Apparently they could do everything since they made ships that touched the skies. Eudom let out a huff at the thought. "I don't blame you." One day their fancier ships and ways would encounter some force of nature that even Belrean science couldn't explain. That much Eudom was certain of as he reached over and brought another book closer so that he could thumb through it.

"Unfortunately..." Vepkhia replied almost absent-minded. When she was younger, the thought of some magical plant that would cure her of whatever it was that ailed her had been her wish. Things had been simple when she was that young. Her brother had helped her to see how that wish was just a little too much of a dream. Vep sighed to herself remembering that time.
Brought back to the conversation by his own comments about Belrea, she smiled at Eudom. "Maybe some day though. Granted, just getting to Yael was a pretty big deal for me. So one victory at a time I suppose." Vepkhia followed the Yaeli's lead and grabbed another book before flipping to thr next page in her journal in case she found anything else to make notes on.

"At least getting to Yael is more reasonable." Grumbled Eudom as he casually flipped through a few more pages of the tome that he had grabbed. The dusty pages felt familiar in his fingertips, the pages somehow calming despite his current situation with the foreigner. Normally one would have expected him to leave by this point but somehow he was managing, something that potentially was attributed in part by the girl's polite and calm personality. "If you venture towards Belrea then I'll offer a prayer for you." He added almost as an afterthought before closing the book and reaching for another.
"But you are in Yael now and looking for this plant. Other than properties is there anything special about its appearance that could stand out?" He pursed his lips at the thought before shaking his head. "Not that you have to bother me with it, but I do live near some wilderness that has plenty of plants growing within the forest. It's a tricky spot though with plenty of spirits to mess with travelers..." But then again they could consider the foreigner to be one of their own and potentially leave her be. Would spirits even have comprehension about the world outside their own?

"That's very true." Vepkhia acknowledged. "At least people have ben sailing for awhile as opposed to those airships." A small chill went down her spine at the thought of it. She had been in the middle of turning the page when Eudom mentioned he would pray for her. Her head tilted slightly as she thought on that but he continued speaking and her mind raced to catch up, not fully able to ponder his comment. "You see that's where things find the grey area. I wasn't necessarily given a name or description of a plant, hence the research. Do you know of any of the plants that might fall into those categories?" After all, they seemed to share the same research material. Though...if he had known of something, he would have said so already right? Then again, she was an outsider in his home land. In a land that wasn't always so kind to outsiders she had been told. 'Dang...maybe I should have asked Aria to stick around a little...' She thought to herself, her lips quirking in a little bit of a frown. 'But...' Vepkhia thought, 'he had offered to pray for her if she did head towards Belrea. So that meant he must not see her as THAT bad right?...Right?'

And even sailing was dangerous! Eudom's jaw clenched but he offered no more on the subject. At least it seemed like they both were on a similar page when it came to traveling, especially by Belrean standards. "Several." Replied Eudom with a frown at the question. "Only the gods can offer a miraculous healing but there are a variety of plants growing on Yael that can help nourish the body. Perhaps it's a rare variety blessed by Lurin herself that you're seeking? Either way you won't find it here unless you're looking for overpriced teas in the market." He shrugged as he closed another book and pushed it to the side. If she was looking for some rare plant then the market would be the worst place. Even Eudom knew how easily someone would try to sell some average root as a miracle plant to a foreigner.

"Oh..." She seemed to deflate at his comment. She should have known better, hadn't Kresimir tried to warn her off of this little mission of hers? She wasn't an experienced adventurer. Vep had no way to make more money to be able to continue living in the city, her funds were running low as it was. The young woman sighed, realizing she didn't have many options. "You're probably right..." Vep ran a hand down her face with a small groan. "What should I do..." She whispered to herself, stuck with her own desire to continue to search Yael but also not wanting to put herself in a bad situation. Especially one where she wouldn't be able to send regular messages to her brother and make him worry and act on the threat (or promise depending on who you ask) to come take her home.
