Despite how utterly chipper Morain was being, Kahukura stayed half in front of him as if she could physically prevent the entire conversation. She had nothing against her sister making friends - if anything, this girl seemed nice - she just personally wanted nothing to do with her. If Rawiri had any sense she would have known that and kept walking the moment she saw her.

Instead she was here making baseless accu...sations...Goddess, they weren't baseless at all! Kura's entire face flushed with warmth and her eyes widened, more so out of shock than anything else but it could have passed for guilt.

"He's not my boyfriend and I'm not introducing him to the family. We were actually just leaving." Everything in her twin's tone sat her on edge. Whenever Rawiri got like this Kahukura acted in one of two ways; either she cowered under it or she completely dismissed it by leaving. For now, she was trying to go with the later.

Well! While Kahukura was clearly not the best when it came to social situations, she'd been nothing but kind to him up until now - whereas Rawiri had immediately jumped into what Morain recognized as 'harassing older sister' mode. They looked similar in age, enough that maybe they were twins, but it still reminded him of Ygraine, who could be vicious in her teasing when she wanted to be.

Kahukura didn't enjoy it though; if anything, she seemed humiliated, and that immediately made him feel defensive, for her sake if nothing else.

"We're not-- uh--" Morain blurted out, silver skin flushing a dusky pink-purple.

Kahukura was quick to agree though, so he nodded along with her emphatically. "Yeah! I swear, I just got myself lost and she was helping me out--"

Yeah, no - there was absolutely no way Kahukura was going to show her face again, after this. She'd bring the boy to town, then go disappear like she always did. Rawiri felt a flare of discontent at this, because it wasn't as if she brought people home very often, couldn't Kahukura be sociable for ONCE in her life and just shyly say 'hello?'

Really, would it kill her? And Vaani, bless her, was being the ultimate best buddy, talking her up like she was.

"You're acting like I'm trying to cut your dreads off, Kura." Rawiri scolded, pouting. Where Morain seemed to easily see her teasing behavior, Rawiri was clueless to how condescending she came off - that, or she chose not to believe it was as petty as it really was. "I'm just playing, you don't have to leave. Why don't we all go together? If you don't mind a bit of a longer walk, Vaani dear - I could always carry you if you get tired later, yes? Yes. Perfect."

If she didn't like her responses then Rawiri should just stop pressing the issue. It wasn't as if the way Kahukura behaved was 'abnormal'; this was how she'd always acted. So why now, when she obviously just wanted to be left alone with her things, was everyone here?

She really wasn't going to get out of this. Looking between her twin and Morain then to her sister's clueless friend Kahukura felt utterly trapped. Her 'guest' needed an escort to town, she'd already offered to feed him, and if she didn't try to play along with her sister then she'd be rude-

And despite all appearances she really did like Rawiri it was just...sometimes her personality and teasing could be a little much.

"...Fine." She may as well have cut off my dreads. "But we were going to fish first so if you'd rather just go to the house-"

"Oh! I brought snacks. I meant to give them to your parents, but it's just as good for hungry stomachs in the morning." Vaani lifted a bulging basket up with a smile. She hoped it was enough of a diversion to hopefully break through some of the tension. Rawiri was definitely a decisive girl - which helped with Vaani's naturally submissive side - but her sister might not have appreciated it as much. Still! There was no reason to get so upset this early in the morning.

"I don't mind the extra walking. It might make it easier to find skirts that fit." She pinched her hips with a little laugh and stepped past her friend toward the other two. "What would you like? I have berry puffs, pumpkin tarts, and honey butter rolls."

Morain wanted to say that he was a bit more... graceful than to start eyeballing a stranger's basket of goodies. But he was rather very hungry, and as much as he liked fish, one really couldn't pass up pastries in the morning. He felt like he was drooling just from the menu she cheerily called out to him, and it was with only one guilty glance at Kahukura that he decided to give in. "Honey, I'd just about diefor a honey butter roll. You're a benevolent spirit of the highest order, I could kiss you--"

She said yes! Rawiri smiled brightly at her grudging agreement, nodding along excitedly as Vaani, sweet thing that she was, jumped wholeheartedly in with the offering of some treats. It really was quite adorable how Morain, who only moments before had been gnawing his lip nervously at the sisters' quarrel, now seemed singlemindedly set on devouring the pastries himself, the tension forgotten.

She moved closer to her sister and pat her arm sympathetically, laughing gently. "You won't regret it, I promise. Though it really is nice, seeing you branching out and making new friends~" She flashed her eyes at Morain, then smiled at Kahukura again, her teasing gentler now, but stillvery much there.

Vaani couldn't help laughing a little. Oh, he was a delight! Still, the way he talked was enough to bring color to her cheeks. "O-oh please, you don't...no, no let's not do that. You can have a roll with no kiss involved." Lifting back the cloth from her rolls, Vaani picked out a particularly tasty looking one and offered it with a nervous smile. "I hope you like it."

Looking into his eyes was unnerving. She couldn't say they were disgusting or anything that vile, but she'd never really seen an Aishan's eyes this close. Rawiri and her sister had eyes closer to a yaeli's so it was easier to keep focus but his...oh my, they were odd.

Looking over to the sisters, Vaani felt her shoulder softening. She'd been worried for a moment there but it looked like everything was going to work out.

Even though Kahukura gave an exhausted huff, she couldn't help the little smile that slipped out. She didn't want her sister to ever think she wasn't happen to have her around so if this was what made them all happy...she could bare with it for a while. Besides, Vaani didn't seem so bad, and Morain was...well, he was certainly grateful for their help, wasn't he?

He's practically glowing. How hungry was he?

"He's not..." She'd meant to say he wasn't her friend, but instead what slipped out was, "...he's not disagreeable."

If Morain noticed Vaani's hesitance at his eyes, he made no sign of it. Instead, he merely huffed and snapped his fingers as if dismayed at her rejection, only to cup his hands, fingers wiggling in a beckoning, excited motion as she fished about her basket for The Perfect Roll. When she deposited it, he hummed out a happy 'thank you'.

For how hungry he was, however, he didn't tear into the roll like some rabid monster, but instead took delicate bites, tilting his head towards the sisters. It was nice, to see a softer look on the nervous Aishan's face - for as demanding as her sister had been, it was a relief to see them a bit more friendly. "You should try these, they're amazing! Thank you, sweet lady~" He winked at Vaani, smiling, then took another dainty bite.

Rawiri gasped in feigned shock, but did feel an actual grin brighten her face as she squeezed Kahukura's shoulder, feeling silly in how proud she felt. "Well look at you, Miss Socialite!" She whispered, playfully, nudging her cheek with a knuckle. Then she stepped away and moved closer to Vaani, smiling a dazzling smile at her as she plucked a pumpkin tart from the basket. "I'm glad you're so prepared, Vaani~ You really saved the morning, didn't you?"

He really was like a child in so many ways, wasn't he? Morain didn't hold himself back like she did, and Kahukura...found herself a little jealous of that. If she were more open like he was would she be able to understand her sister more? Just watching his interactions with Vaani made her smile brighter and something akin to fondness blossom in her heart.

Of course, as soon as Rawiri found out Kahukura was all blushes and ducked her head. "Hardly," she murmured. Socialite? Her? Ha!

Seeing her sister walk off and mingle with the others made her wonder what it would be like if they did this again. Morain wouldn't be around them which was...more sad than she cared to admit, but maybe others would come? It might be nice.

Vaani was just having such a good day. It was a little awkward at points and she was still adjusting herself to Morain's flamboyant nature, but it wasn't a bad adjustment. If anything she found herself perfectly happy with it all!

"You're very welcome! I'm glad you like them." The comment about saving the morning, though, had her shrinking back out of bashfulness. "Oh, I don't think I did that much. I'm just glad I could help. Food really tastes better with friends."
