Kerberos didn't want to break eye contact with this ghost. Who the hell did she think she was, to mock the both of them like this? To throw out accusations without a single piece of actual information?
"Fine. Be cryptic. Be uselessly unhelpful." He hoped not all Knight ancestors were like this, or that if they were, Nile and Lyonesse didn't have those. He only broke glaring at her to turn, full-body, to Asphodel, the one of the two of them here he actually respected, and it was as he did that that he felt a strange dryness under his feet.
He'd gotten used to the soft give of petals wherever he walked, and the change made him glance down, and he saw--
Dead flowers. That looked like they'd been burned.
"Yeah," he said, and there was an edge of nerves in his voice he tried ot repress. "Let's go."
Whatever that was, he certainly didn't want to discuss it in front of an arrogant, unhelpful ghost.

His ancestor was already at it again, dressing him and Kerberos down with all manner of colorful language, each stabbing gesture of her voice seeming to wilt his magical meadow even more -- but Asphodel had decided not to listen, not to look, with a stony grimace on his face that felt like he could break his jaw. It wouldn't do simply to walk away; the crone would no doubt follow until she'd had her fill of verbal abuse. So, instead, he stepped closer to the senshi and, with the instinct of the Negaverse agent he once was, willed the two of them back to Destiny City. He was breathing heavily as the more living metropolis appeared before them. He never thought these streets would be such a welcome sight. "That was a ******** disaster," he said, bitterly. "Sorry."

"Not your fault," Kerberos assured, immediately. When they were back in Destiny City, though, he stared down at his feet--and let out a breath of relief as the asphodel bloomed, normally, flowery and graceful and not burning to ashes.
"Aspho, there's something wrong up there," he said, and he tapped his foot on the ground. "I don't know if you noticed, there was a lot going on--but my flowers. They were dying. Around her." There was no reason to keep the information to himself. It was Asphodel's Wonder, Asphodel's Ancestor; he needed to know that there was, potentially, something deeply rotten there.

The look Asphodel gave Kerberos was, well -- it was certainly something. There was shock, anxiety and confusion in there, all wrapped up in a heavy layer of deep exasperation. After all the struggle to leave the Negaverse, and the demons fought to return to Destiny City, he supposed the universe might see fit to cut him a break. Apparently not.
