He raised his brow at her laugh, and his shoulders fully relaxed. She was at least easy to poke fun at, which meant it would be an enjoyable partnership for sparring. He had no doubts she'd return his insults tenfold, and thank goodness his mother ensured he had thick skin.
"Thank the gods I don't have any of that." He said, realizing a moment too late his statement might come off wrong in this part of town. But it had been stated, and so it was, "I can't imagine having a twin. If he was anything like me, he'd be absolutely insufferable."

Having Sena around helped Ika to grow used to sterner 'sisters', though it was awkward to call him one. Even her twin was more openly expressive than Crocus was but she wouldn't fault him for it. She'd been raised among earthlings so she'd had more opportunities to be looser with her emotions. Ika knew if she'd been raised closer to Chibale then it wouldn't have been so. Ika raised her index finger and made a clicking noise. "You're more right than you know. Mine is horrendously annoying, but I couldn't imagine a life without him. Even though he practices with his blades he hasn't followed Aisha, but I can't fault him for that. It's harder when you pass more easily for an earthling than an Aishan." Looking him over, she had to ask, "What made you choose this?"

Her question was serious, and it left Crocus thinking thoughtfully for a long moment. He considered his mother, how she left her home not once, but twice, for what she believed in. A better world, where they could protect those around them. That and the fact he had been bloomed, was enough to want to follow in her footsteps. If he were so lucky.
But how could he put such things in words? Really, if it came down to it...
"I'm a strong fighter, my skills only keep growing and I'm good at what I do. Doesn't matter what roots gave me them, they are all I've got. Seems like the way to live my best life is by the Aishan ways."
He wanted to be strong, and he knew they would help him get there. If he had to follow their rules, that was fine. He preferred them over the Yaeli roots he had learned anyway.

"I think you'll do well." Ika got a good sense of his character and she liked what she saw. As eager as she was to make him eat dirt she was also pleased to see that he was here for his own reasons not just to prove something to his family. "I was told multiple times that my gifts would lend better to earthling studies, but Sena showed me otherwise. I wanted this and now I can serve Aisha-" And with a flick of her wrist a flame sprouted in her palm, "- with all that I am." She could have gone with her grandfather, aunt, or just about any earthling magus, but the one who found her was a sacred heart. "I look forward to giving you scars, Crocus." And with a smirk she added, "I'm Ika, by the way."

His eyes reflected the light of the flames she brought up, the flickering shining in their dark depths. He appreciated the display, something his mother couldn't show with her Amazon heritage. Hmm, maybe he would consider the Sacred Heart path. The power of the flame was mesmerizing, and the way Ika controlled it was enthralling. He hungered to be able to do the same, and smiled at her fully.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ika. I look forward to seeing you try."
