A World To Be Observed Alassiel felt old.
Not in a weary bones and painful hips sort of way, but just a deep soul heavy feeling of age. The world was not as it once had been, wars were now a long-gone fuzzy memory as the world found peace. It was strange to her, to have been brought up in a world where bloodshed had been a necessity and now, she taught younglings how to swim. She still considered herself a rider and would of course answer any call to war with some enthusiasms were it to happen. However, she also found herself wondering about grandkids and how it was a better world for them.
“Jakka don’t try and drown your sister!” She yelled, hands on her hips from her position on the beach. Rygha advanced on them, a dark silent shadow as he moved through the water and in-between them to stop the fighting.
It was also a little crazy to think of all the new races that had joined the world. People living under the sea, which she thought truly fascinating, and how the Alkidikes had evolved over time with the new continents. That hadn’t caused any issues on the Earthling end, but she had heard some rumblings that the Alks had been pretty close to a war. She wondered who would have sided with them or if they would have called on allies to aide them against whatever it was, they were fighting. Z’ran would not have been happy with her though if she had left.
At least Ziel had returned home though, finally ready to settle down after so much world discovering. She wondered if there wasn’t a spot Ziel had not visited yet, but she doubted it. Her daughter was a lot more nomadic than she would have thought, so for now she would enjoy the time she as home. Alassiel knew she would probably settle elsewhere behind finding a partner and having children. She also knew her daughter favored Hybrids so it was a wonder what her grandchildren would look like. Still, she would love them because they would still be a part of her and her family.
Maybe she herself would wonder about in her old age with Z’ran. They hadn’t visited any of the newer places but Z’ran had been curious about the Kahikinans. Hopefully he wouldn’t be in a mood to adopt a child, they were too old for that kind of thing now. Well, not too old but… Well, they had bene much younger when Ziel had been born and she simply didn’t have the energy to raise another child. Teaching kids to swim was about as much time as she was willing to spend with kids that were not her own these days.
Alassiel wondered what some of her Alkidike friends thought of how much the world changing had also changed their own ways and people. There were so many trees now and so many different types of Alkidikes. It had been a while since she’d spoken to V’demha or Masika. Or even Tyiva who had helped her. What would they think of this world? Did they have kids? Grandkids? MAsika was the same age as Ziel so she might have had kids by now. She wondered if V’demha felt as old as she did in such moments or maybe she liked the slow pace of peace and the quiet it brought.
“Alright, everyone out! Head home for now and I’ll see you all next week.”
Alassiel watched the kids get out of the water as she entered it. Rygha made his way over to her and she got on his back. They swam away from the shoreline, where the water was cooler and much deeper. She didn’t let any of the kids get this far, and probably would not allow an adult either unless they were accompanied by their familiar who was made for water. Rygha simply enjoyed his time floating with Ally on top of him as they looked across the water back towards Matori. That same feeling of being old washed over her.
Maybe she ought to take a small trip home to see the family. Alassiel had so many nieces and nephews and they had kids and really it was a dizzying mess to keep up with it. She was the odd one out with only one child, but she was thankful because it was a mess and she doubted Z’ran would have been able to keep up with four other Ziel’s in their home. She had been a good child, but a goofball and quite active. She’d kept them on their feet for a long time, probably until she left home and even then Alassiel had laid many nights awake hoping Ziel was okay.
Alassiel and Rygha floated on the sea all afternoon until the sun was going down and a shiver ran down her back. She relished in those last winks of sunlight, wondering what the future held for all of Tendaji before Rygha finally decided they were heading back. She gave him a few pats because she knew he was probably hungry.
Z’ran was waiting for them with dinner ready by the time they made it back, he smiled and kissed her before they settled to eat. Ziel showed up not long after t also share their dinner. Alassiel pushed back a bit to observe her family as they spoke and laughed together.

Peaceful Reflection Alassiel sat in the tranquil garden of her home, surrounded by the gentle hum of the ocean waves and the soft chirping of birds. As she watched the sunlight dance through the branches of the ancient trees, a sense of peace washed over her. The world seemed so calm and serene, a far cry from the tumultuous times of her youth. The memories of her own youth came flooding back, the struggles and hardships she had faced, but also the moments of joy and triumph. She had lived a full and fulfilling life, and as she looked back on it now, she realized just how fortunate she truly was. She had a loving family, a beautiful home, and a world at peace. What more could she ask for? Z’ran and she had stopped praying to their gods a long time ago for more children, and while she was content with the decision fate had taken, sometimes she couldn’t help but wonder.
Reflecting on her life, Alassiel couldn't help but feel a pang of regret from time to time. She had raised only one child, a daughter who had grown up and would someday start a family of her own. While she cherished her daughter and one day grandchildren dearly, there was a part of her that longed for more. In the quiet moments of solitude, she often found herself wondering what could have been if she’d been able to have more children.
But as she looked around at the tranquil beauty of her surroundings, Alassiel knew that she had made the right decision. The world was so peaceful now, free from the strife and conflict that had plagued it in her youth. She was grateful that her grandchildren would never have to experience the horrors of war, and that they could grow up in a world filled with love and abundance.
As she watched some of her neighbours' children play on the beach, their laughter ringing out like music, Alassiel's heart swelled with joy. She felt blessed to have them in her life, to be able to share in their innocence and wonder. They were the light of her world, a beacon of hope in an otherwise uncertain world. She was very grateful her neighbour liked to have her babysit from time to time. She might not have grandchildren yet, but in those times, it felt like she had a whole fleet of them.
In the quiet moments of reflection, Alassiel often found herself thinking about the past. She remembered the wars and conflicts that had torn families apart, the senseless violence that had marred the land. It was a time of darkness and despair, a time she was grateful to leave behind.
But even as she looked back on those difficult times, Alassiel couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude. It was because of those struggles that she had come to appreciate the peace and tranquillity of the present. It was because of those hardships that she had learned to cherish every moment, to hold her loved ones close and never take them for granted. It was because of those times that she had met Z’ran and without him, there would have been no Ziel either. She was perhaps the best thing that had come out of all those years.
As the sun began to set on the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the ocean, Alassiel felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She knew that life was fleeting and fragile, that each moment was precious and should be savoured. As she watched the children play, their laughter echoing in the fading light, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the peace and happiness that surrounded her. She was happy that they could enjoy this time, carefree and worry-free. Hopefully they would never know war and all the things it brought with it.
She closed her eyes and let the warmth of the sun wash over her, feeling a sense of serenity wash over her. At this moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the laughter of youth, Alassiel knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be. And as she opened her eyes to the fading light, she whispered a silent prayer of thanks for the blessings in her life, vowing to cherish them always.
As darkness descended and the stars began to twinkle overhead, Alassiel felt a sense of contentment settle over her. She knew that there would always be challenges and obstacles to overcome, but as long as she had her loved ones by her side, she was confident that she could face whatever the future held. Alassiel rose from her seat and made her way back to her home. The stars twinkled overhead, their soft glow illuminating the path before her. She felt a sense of peace settle over her, knowing that she was exactly where she was meant to be. And as she stepped through the door and into the warmth of her home, she carried with her the memories of the day and the love that filled her heart. She sought Z’ran who was just cleaning up from making dinner and went to hug him from behind.
“What’s this about?” He mused as he paused what he was doing.
“I was just missing you.” She replied and gave him a squeeze.
“Are you saying I should leave more often?” He teased her, turning around to wrap his arms around her.
“Definitely not.” To prove her point, Alassiel squeezed him again and buried her face in his chest. “Now let’s eat!”Word count: 934
