"Even wind down work is important," Gil said measuredly. He was still half getting his breath back. Still, he couldn't help a little smile that tugged at his lips. Dessy was a breath of fresh air, honestly. Across the road? Shoot, he knew that. Right? Gil knew that? Ugh, head getting a little fuzzier. He wouldn't say that though, oh no. He knew Dessy was a little worried already. No need to worry the other further. All things gathered and he motioned toward the door, basket of food clutched firmly in his hand while his bag was slung over a shoulder. "I'll give you a ride home. We can store the bags in my car." With that, he opened the door and pointed to a deep green Sedan before unlocking it. "Go ahead and throw yours in the back." He would wait until Dessy was out of the gym and into the autumn air. Maybe the fresh air would help him feel better, too, on top of this food. Part of Gil couldn't get over how thoughtful he was.

"Oh uh... You don't have to worry about the ride home, it's literally a little junky place and out of the way, so I can take a train there no problem. No point in making you go out of your way for that..." Though he did follow him to the car, setting his bag down where he was told. There wasn't anything super important in it if Gil decided he suddenly wanted to drive off with his stuff... And there wasn't anything a little teleporting and breaking/entering couldn't retrieve. ... Huh, when did he become so paranoid about friends? Dessy gave a shake of his still damp hair, clearing his head of those thoughts again. He really needed to stop it. Atleast the cool air was clarifying his own racing brain just a little bit. "Oh, but one sec!" He cracked open that bag of his and pulled out a nice, fresh blanket for them to sit on. From what he remembered there were tables to sit at, but there was something just... Really nice about chilling on a blanket with a friend. They were friends, yeah? Yeah! "And then once you eat, it's time for a nap. You kinda look like you need it."

December was right, of course. After he ate, he'd probably go home and just crash on his bed the rest of the day. Hopefully between December's delicious food, and the sleep Gil would get, he would beat whatever this was fairly quickly. Being sick wasn't something Gil did well. Living by himself, and ignoring medications most of the time, he ended up staying in bed, barely eating or drinking, which often lended to getting worse before getting better. "Aaah, you're so nice. You really didn't have to do this, but I super appreciate it," Gil said, shouldering his bag and heading to the front of the gym. Holding open the door, he let December go first and then stepped out into the brisk air with a shuddering sigh. "Aaah! It feels good after working out." Brown eyes focused on the changing color leaves, and the sky that somehow was blue, but also still kind of gray. At least the park was across the street. So, he crossed the street with December, making sure not to go too fast. His legs were long, which meant his gait was faster than most despite his size. Has to make sure everyone can keep up. "Mmm, find a patch in the sun's what I'm trying to do."

"Anytime, really! It's so much more satisfying to be nice than to be rude, I think. And it's the little joys in life that keeps me going these days. But I'd have to chalk up someone genuinely enjoying the food I make as a major joy, if you do like it, of course. Heh, no pressure though!" It was true, that December had trouble finding any reason to be happy more often than not. Back before he was powered, before his family all scattered, being happy for the sake of just being happy came so much easier. He could smile and think about it, and then just have that warmth that came from it spread across him without any effort at all. Everything felt so much more fake these days. As if smiles were expected, and he was too young, too indebted to others, too weak to have any say or right to say he wasn't okay. No one wanted to hear about his troubles and worries, it just wasn't worth it. Again, as he would often do, he shook his head to himself, clearing away those thoughts, and forcing himself to focus only on the good. Gil. Gil here was good. He could already tell. December followed him without care or worry for now, and the moment he found a nice tree, he bolted for it, laying down the blanket in the absolute perfect spot, half in the shade, half in the sun, just incase they got too hot. "Here we go! What do you think? Nice, right?"

When December bolted, it took him by surprise. Brown eyes blinked before he started chuckling and following at a quicker pace. Honestly reminded him of a puppy, in a good way. Gil had to admit it, though, December really did pick a good spot. With one hand going over his brows, Gil looked up and around before nodding and going to plop his giant frame down on a corner of the blanket. "You picked a perfect spot." Under the tree was going to be not too bright, or hot. Hopefully not too windy, but a little wind wasn't bad. Gil was feeling a little warm anyway. "Okay!" Getting situated and comfortable, he started dealing out the food from the basket. "It's been so long since I ate on the grass. Never really think about it, you know? But it's nice."

“Right? This place feels… Hmm.. Familiar? Like I’ve been here before, sitting in the sun and happy like this. Sorry for running though, I just didn’t want someone else to steal the spot!” He closed his eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath of that crisp autumn air. It was a whole lot different than the sent of cleaner barely masking sweat in the gym, or the strange staleness that floated about the Negaverse. This was very much more enjoyable. “You can start with whatever you’d like. I only ask you take a bite of everything, unless you really really don’t like it. Sometimes you just don’t like things, and that’s okay. I’ll eat some of everything too. I am a certified bottomless pit!” Before that though, he pulled out a napkin and delicately placed one on Gil’s knee first, then his own. “Here we go, bone apple teeth!”

Gil waved his hand at the apology before also taking a deep breath. He was still warm from his work out, so the cool air in his lungs made goosebumps to form on ...well, all over. Still, he puffed and took his napkin before chuckling. "Bone apple teeth?" Was this a generational thing he didn't understand? It was amusing, either way. With another shiver, Gil pulled his coat further around him and then took his first bite of the meal December had carefully crafted for him. It still touched him the other was worried enough to do this. A pleased hum left him as he continued to eat and enjoy, a sway to his body as he was content in the moment. "You, December, make great food. So a bite of everything will probably not be hard! I'm also a pretty bottomless pit. I went to do a wing challenge, and I got so many wings before hand, no one thought I'd finish the spicy ones. Jokes on them. ...I did regret it almost. The heartburn was unreal."
