Variel 8
Variel was too encommpased in her ride to notice the chit chat going on on the sidelines. She felt like she had been born to this saddle and she finally had a janarim of her own. In fact he was her father's most prized posession and he had given the beast to her. She felt awfully special. She did know that he was supposed to get a military beast when he gained rank so she felt he must be close.
She was proud of him and her animal. Xarthin would no doubt bring her many medals when she was fully fledged. She would give him the best care in return, their bond would rival the great rider's of myth and legend.

Reillan 9
He smiled indulgently when his daughter breezed past, sweat forming on the janarims plates and worked to cool the beast down. He had finally met his match. Reillan thought Keel would be rather proud of his descision. Flake, had to run off to different worlds, no time for something as small as a twin brother. Fool, was missing so much of his own family. Besides most of the evil uncles had died off or were too feeble to come through on their age addled threats. Such was the beauty of time.
Well you reap what you sow he thought. Luckily his twin girls showed no sign of splitting up.

Xarthin suddently stopped and pointed at a new boy walking onto the training grounds. He had dark skin and vibrant pink hair. He was wearing riding leathers and Variel didn't know what to think so she booted the janarim over to chat.
"Hey there are you new?" She asked sweetly enough. Her beast was stiff before her.
The males eyes snaked over and he looked them over. He stuck his nose into the air but still answered her. Probably assuming she was rich because of Xarthin's high quality. "Just transfered in." His eyes slid away from her.

Reillan 10
Reillan had noticed the by play and asked the hand what he knew about the new boy. Reillan smiled as the hand gave a scathing opinion and explained the boy was from a far Oban city where apparently manners were optional.
Reillan smiled and relaxed, if there was one thing Variel couldn't abide it was nobles being stuck up. She had played with nobles and knew they were just like everyone else and she liked Nic and his Mama, she had grown right alongside him and had way more self value then half the people she competed with.
Reillan gave in to a hearty belly laugh at the description of the exploits gained from the transfered groom of the kid. This was going to be a fun rivalry.

Variel 10
She already didn't like him, he was too shifty and afraid, yes afraid to meet her eye. "Boys." She rolled her eyes and reeled Xarthin away, she didn't have time for his ilk. She was almost done Xarthin's excersize, she would rub him down ensure he had everything he needed and maybe bring him out at dusk for a brisk walk around the yard. She thought he might like to see the goings on at a new time of day, and it would play him out so he would get a good sleep.
Tomorrow she would repeat it all adding morning chores in there, she wanted to be the one he saw, so he would know she loved him.
