Sat the ******** up and paid attention - and this - this was why talking was good. Took it all in with intent, honeyed gaze that roved unwavering over each little dip and nick. Waru wanted to ask questions as badly as he wanted to reach out and - what - soothe? Stared in fascination that bordered on admiration; because Kor sat before him alive. A whole person with a road map written into his skin - braille on a lengthy story - and Waru wanted to peel back the chapters and dig into the fine print of it. Shut his flytrap of a mouth, because even he knew better than to speak on some things. Hadn't meant it as a tally marker for a head count, wasn't going to start collecting black teardrops anytime soon. Liked the idea of taking something people often associated with pain - as being something ugly - and turning it into a work of art. Except there were connotations to go with it, and context, and there were people like Kor in the world. Who maybe didn't have a choice in whether or not their scars were pretty? Earned 'em, paid dues and dividends in flesh and blood, and he didn't quite sound like he'd enjoyed the process of going through it. "Huh...s'fairpoint.." itched to tap into the well of knowledge that sat before him and take a ******** drink. Ticked his brain over instead, slid on a smile, and thought it better to giggle over the shared disdain for words that were worth laughing at - because there was nothing in that book that should've ever been taken literally. "Oh, tell me about it? Just like, do go on, yeah? Its just...it's funny what catches on main, and like, it could be all the good parts? Like accurate n' educational even? But no - s'gotta be.." handwave and a heavy sigh for the nebulous thing of 'that' series, and its sequels.

It was a good thing Waru could restrain himself. Kor wouldn't like the touch, nor the questions about what happened. There were a lot of memories that he chose to forget, a lot of regrets and sadness within his scars. So many sleepless nights of writhing in pain because going to a hospital made him weak, and as who he used to be, that would actually get him killed. "Tell you about what? How that book is just actually trash, caused men to strangle women to death during the act because they think it's just grabbing their throat? They don't know the nuisances behind it. ********' training goes into that stuff." Kor was an animated talker, even when he was doing something. His hand not holding the marker waved around wildly and his face was just as expressive. His brows raising, crinkles around his eyes and mouth when he gave bitter chuckles, even the roll of his eyes seemed to be exaggerated. "Tch, next we'll hear about humans bein' found in small dog crates 'cause it was 'part of the scene' and I dunno. This s**t needs to be regulated." Even as a book and movie it was gross and too detailed in some parts, but most of it was completely and utterly twisted, or made up. "Anyway, I think I got this outline. Come see." It was the same as the pencil sketch, but done in a wide, purple marker and he hummed at his own work. "If you like it, we'll slap it on your arm, line it up, then get started." After he washed his hands again, of course, but still.

Passionate - and it made Waru why the guy'd ever closed his shop. Aside from - and it must've sucked, being sick, being unable to do a thing when he was clearly a man who was so het up about so many things. ******** firebug, n Waru could've listened to him talk. He'd always liked people who had vivid opinions, who could state them more clearly than he could. Purposeful statements and words that seemed stunning when set in the mouth of someone who knew how to speak without sounding like a spaz who couldn't string one idea into the next. Envy. For his talents, for his fire. Enjoyed the surprise for that as he leaned up and over. Nodded along in agreement and just, if he gaped a little, if he got all soft and hungry for the swath of lines set down on trace paper, imagined how that all would feel going into his skin? "Yeah" deep reverb of pleased sound that settled in his chest, that warmed his ******** soul. "I like it Kor. Love it, but yanno, if that wasn't ********' obvious from like..." splay of motion for himself, for the situation they'd landed themselves in, hound dog on a scent that had tracked this man into his hidden alcove and dragged him out - even if it was just for one more go. "Whatever, I love it." sighed around the thing that settled, and it'd been a minute, but he'd missed it. Heady anticipation that waited for the buzz of a needle and the hurt was negligible for the reward. Pleasurable even. A nice high with a nicer outcome.

"Great! Now. I need your arm exposed, please." Kor would wait then, for however Waru was going to lean over his arm. "Since... I can get the lines done for the full sleeve, I'm going to have to shave your arm. You cool with that?" He couldn't work on a hairy surface. He shaved himself when he tattooed himself. He didn't even have shaving cream. No, he had water, though, and wet some paper towels before rubbing Waru's arm down to dampen the hair. He got the new disposable razor out and removed the plastic bit before getting started shaving. "Do you have the aftercare for the tattoo? Like nonscented lotion, or some tattoo goop?" He used to sell it. Anything here was probably expired. He did have some Vaseline for after he was done with the lines, and cling wrap and bandages, but he didn't really want to send any of that home with the other. He might need those once he talks to Derek about maybe starting to take on house calls for tattoos. It was an old friend, an old extension of his arm. Way more comfortable than the sword he wielded in the shape of a large sewing needle. God. He had to blink back tears as he finished shaving off the rest of the hairs he could see and then sniffled. "Sec." Kor had to get up then and grabbed a paper towel before turning his back and dabbing at his eyes. He sniffled again and then covered it up with clearing his throat. "Damn allergies, right?" He said, turning back with a little laugh. "Okay." He settled on his stool, wrapped his feet around the legs of the stool and got comfortable before humming. "Your turn to get comfortable."

Simple enough thing to settle back and let Kor go to work, hum lightly for the scrape of razor; familiar and gentle schiff of blade over skin. Splayed a little nad let any tendencies to fidget fall into the fingers of his left hand, fall into his eyes as they quick dart roved every new little movement that passed from the other into his careful ministrations. Because Waru liked to watch, everything, just as much as he liked to touch, all things. His brain case a newtons cradle for the little cells that bounced around enough thoughts to entertain himself while the other was busy. "Hmm, probably?" soft tilt, and truthfully he had enough medical supplies stocked to make a pharmacy envious. He'd ******** 'learned', playing with fire meant getting burned, and avoiding that? Ten parts skill and thirty parts proper after care and investing enough in himself that he was sure he had things at home he could've used to care for something as simple as some fresh lines at this point. "Whatever I'm lacking I'll pick up on the way home. M'always glad for the reminder tho." honesty, cause he was, little bits of care in craft that had him smiling. Kept it even as Kor seemed to shudder - some small little shift - let the emotion slide, cause who knew, there was s**t going around the city. Illness's cold weather changes, whatever. "I feel for you. Honestly, it's probably whatever lives in the air? Air qualities s**t, n everything that's been blowing in on these weird fall winds..You be careful not to catch anything, yeah?" gentle tease, conversational lilt. "A few more weeks and it might be time to bundle up - which - " deepest of forlorn sighs "Personally I'm not a fan, winter weather wear isn't my deal. Mmm..." except he maybe had a tailor he could invest in now, in the way of a subordinate, might actually take advantage of that.

With the arm completely shaved, Kor put took his time and placed the paper on Waru's arm. He took it off and put it on a few times, dry, before finally doing it wet and pressing both of his hands firmly, making sure that marker came in contact with Waru's skin. "Yeah. The whole downstairs is dusty, too. I don't use this area anymore." Honestly he should sell the whole thing and move to a bigger apartment, but there were so many sentimental attachments that he was 100% sure he wouldn't be able to. Even if some of those memories were bittersweet right now. God, thinking about Laine still hurt. So he wouldn't. He pushed that from his head as he slowly peeled off the paper from the arm and examined his work. "Go check the mirror on the back of the door and tell me if you like the placement." It was a sleeve, so there wasn't too much room for error, but he could want it up or down a bit, maybe wrapped more toward the back than the front.

Waru chuckled warmly, cooed some pleased sound as he watched the quiet careful work. Marveled gently over the transference. Ink on skin that would soon go from being just a dream --- and fall into reality. Into permanence. That would begin with marker and end with buzzing needles dancing over nerve ends, that would leave Waru feeling far more himself then he ever did, with every new drop and mark added on. He liked the idea - of having something unchangeable, to go with how chameleon he felt the rest of the time. He was sure it was some control thing -- or maybe an aesthetics thing? Whatever, he'd ask someone smarter than him about it some other time - for now though? "Do you think your ever gonna -- I mean -- I guess if you just do family n' friends. Like, little personal stuff, you wouldn't need to open up the whole space huh, just the bits you need?" meandered on over mindless words as he slid off to admire himself. Twisted and turned. Flexed for ******** fun and laughed at himself for the image of it -- because he could see it beyond the lines. Future finished product and how it would shine. Lookatme -- except this one was always just for him. Felt ******** 'right'. Like he should've just been born with ink on his skin - instead of having to go about it the longassway round. "I'm in love Kor. I really just....I feel like I should be doing more than paying you, yeah? There's something about, uh, artists n stuff? Idunno - you get it right?" shoved admiration into tone, into pleased creases around his eyes as he helped himself back into the chair. Laid out and ready.

He knew what the boy was going to ask even if he tried to change the way he asked. Kor put his hands on his hips as Waru admired where the marker lines were and hummed as he thought. "I dunno, honestly. ...Maybe.. if things change. I wouldn't say no to doing it again. It's a fun job, good money for something I love to do, but...." Kor was nothing but a traitor to the Negaverse. They didn't handle traitors well, especially now. Opening that would risk his life, risk everyone's life around him. They would be able to find him, and in turn, them. Kor would rather kill himself than put them at risk. Too many people were in his life now. He wouldn't ever, ever, do something that stupid. Even when he was talking to others about purifying, he was on guard, and often powered down immediately after the encounter. He would then go into hiding as a civilian and slip back home. "I get it. Feels like part of you's slottin' into place when you've got the right design. Glad I can be that for you." And he sounded it. There was a wide grin tugging at Kor's lips. He loved completing someone. Helping someone heal, helping them overcome. If only life was really that easy. "Alright, then plop down and we'll start."

"Yeah I get it, it's like, whenever you feel like it though? Just know that you'll always have a customer in me, yeah?" laid the sincerity on careful like, offered it up gently, earnestly, because Waru wanted all things always, wanted this, and how ******** lucky was he to be getting what he wanted exactly this way? After freaking the poor guy out and coming up like some strung out lights that had clearly blown their bulbs long ago. He'd still taken him in though. Hadn't even expected a call back, yet lo an behold? Proof that people came through and dreams could follow. "Or like--so long as I have skin with space and an idea to go off of, yeah?" soft nod and grin for how well Kor just - got it- wouldn't drown the man in praise though. Not when he still had work to do. How Waru settled back and just -- tranced out because his body was going to be busy, and he'd learned a long time ago that talking too much - that squirming about - ******** up lines that often needed to be straight. Found his own little zen spot in just - laying back and letting go for awhile --

Kor sat quietly, easily enough getting back into the swing of this job again. It was almost an extension of his arm again. It felt right and good. Green eyes were hyper focused on the lines, making sure they were as straight as he could get them. Waru's tattoos weren't intricate, but he didn't want it to look bad. It was his first one in a while. He would pause and wipe off the access ink after the lines started to get hard to see and would occasionally have to stop and stretch out his own back and arms. Now and again he would cramp up and have to shake himself loose. Sitting and doing a tattoo for hours was vastly different from sitting and watching Netflix for hours on end. Relaxing in a different way. The last line was finished up about four and a half hours after he started and Kor couldn't have been happier about that. His back was aching and tight like a b***h. God he really needed to work out more. Work on his muscles. Better posture? Whatever it was, he needed to do it. He cleaned it off with his saline solution bottle and then grinned, nodding at his own work. Yeah, Kor was proud of this one. Slowly he took out his phone and opened up the camera before looking up at Waru. "Do you mind if I snap some pics and show someone?"

Let him work -- focused on breathing alone -- little ins and outs and how it got slow and jittery in places depending on where the needle passed, and how many times, and -- how nice it felt. Little bits of pain passed over for the sake of seeking beauty -- how none of it really hurt at all when he stopped focusing on it. Like when he went diving -- or camping -- or... "Hmm?" happy little zen moment burst open and how Waru blinked for the end of it. Smiled for that forever strange feeling that always followed getting work done on his skin, where reality lined back up with wherever he'd drifted off while just - enjoying getting worked over. It was almost like -- going from breathing without thinking to breathing while doing nothing but that. Noticing that he was instead of simply doing it on automatic. Waru was almost sad for it to be over. Shook the stillness he'd adopted out just a little bit as he stretched his toes, rolled his left shoulder instead of his right, because the limb felt heavy, because he was so lost in looking at it and just - lighting the ******** up over looking at it. Fresh looking thing with clean lines and clear purpose, with bold strokes that cried of careful practice and time well taken. "Course you ******** can, it's your art, yeah?" would've been an outright lie to say he didn't want it shown off.

Kor grinned wide as Waru seemed struck with the work he'd done. In a good way. It sent a little buzz of happiness through him to know he helped someone else be that happy. He snapped a few different angles of the fresh ink before sending the texts off to Derek. The phone was pocketed again and the short haired man took a deep breath before sighing it out. "Well that was ....right. It felt good, didn't it?" He asked, as if Waru could possibly feel how he's feeling. The culmination of taking a years long break on something that had made him so content before. Picking up a beloved hobby. He could only equate it to the feeling of a lost pet or loved one coming home after disappearing for a long time. What's going to go wrong? No, he couldn't think like that. Somethings good things happened and nothing followed. No bad. Nothing bad was going to happen because Kor was happy. Either way, he shook himself out of his thoughts, and proceeded to wipe the tattoo down one more time and then wrap it in cling wrap he pulled from the drawer. "I already said get some tattoo goop or some scentless lotion. Lotion for newborns is good."

"Will do" an easy enough answer, touched with the softest bit of awe. Waru wondered if he should thank him, or hug him, or shake his hand? Flexed slightly under the cling wrap and turned it to admire it better for himself. To grin down on all the hard work that had taken so much time - that had felt - "Better than good - don't be like - surprised if I brag about it, yanno? I mean, not like I'm anything shy of a walking five star advertisement, but uh..." and Waru was so rarely lost for words. Kept finding himself searching-- "Yanno, I always thought. If there's enough ink under your skin, then people couldn't get there - n the world - n if I get something good there? It keeps all the rest of it out rather nicely. Doesn't leave any room for anything I don't want bugging me.." stumbled over a broken explanation that sounded enough like, something? Maybe... "Heh, whatever, I'm just grateful yanno. I'll make sure to take care of it real well." thought to admire it in the mirror before setting up to pay.
