Interesting, so the starseed was either out in the open or it had been destroyed - without Cosmos they wouldn't have the capacity to investigate that further, but if the latter was the case then that did give Athalia cause for concern. He remained quiet as the console spoke, his brow lifting just a touch, and then he too returned to its immediate vicinity. Suffice to say he would generally let everyone else get their questions out of the way as they raised them, he could learn from their insights, but when the opportunity presented itself...

"Were there any diplomatic links between the Moon Kingdom and Velenia prior to its destruction?" he asked after a moment. "Or alternatively, depending on the date of the catastrophe, did a diplomatic link exist between the Moon Kingdom and Velencya?" he clarified. Given that he wasn't around a thousand years ago and only had their word to go on at this point, he would much prefer to have another source to refer to.

...Trusting a random strange with no link to them was foolish.

Nevertheless if he could begin to determine if such individuals had even been on good terms with the Moon Kingdom then perhaps he could gain a better understanding of what was at stake. If it came to light that they were not in fact on favourable terms, then it was safe to say he would have more than a few follow-up questions.

Aside from that he did have to wonder if this room was a fluke and only accessible now - even as he stood back to provide space for those around him. If it had now become available to them permanently then perhaps it might be able to help him with his own challenges on his planet. Priorities though, he knew which order to put them in, even if he felt a small amount of frustration as a result.

If only he could clone himself and deal with both challenges at once, heh.

“No,” the console answered pleasantly. “The Moon Kingdom has no formal relations with Velenia or Velencya. Velenia has limited relations with the Moon Kingdom and is considered a neutral party. The Moon Kingdom has no ill-will towards Velenia. After Velenia’s destruction, Velencya sought aid from the Moon Kingdom, however we were not in a position to accommodate them. They were encouraged to relocate to a natural environment. Velencya was an anomaly. The Moon Kingdom does not trust extreme foreign technology.”

The computer seemed capable of only repeating facts; it did not seem to have an opinion of this, and it didn’t seem to be particularly censored.

“Velencya has never engaged in hostilities with the Moon Kingdom. They remain on neutral to unfriendly terms. Velencya ignored requests to relocate their people to a more suitable location. The Moon Kingdom has great concerns for unnatural satellites. No hostilities have taken place between the Moon Kingdom and Velenia or Velencya. Velencya had a budding alliance with Earth. The Moon Kingdom did not engage in safety measures to remove the unnatural satellite out of courtesy for this alliance.”

Transcended Eternal Scylla, Senshi of The Kraken

"I'm going to fight this stupid machine." the announcement was grave. "I tried to talk to Cosmos. I ended up coming to visit you instead. How about you tell Cosmos I got some questions for her?"

But the fact that the seed wasn't in the Cauldron... "I was afraid of that, though. If Sailor Velenia is a Corrupt, or if they were killed and their starseed was eaten or something, or... if they are imprisoned somewhere, like Caedus was... Or hell, if they were taken through the Mirror somehow? I don't know how that works anymore, I just remember how it was said to have worked for Ares and Gaia. All of these things could be ridiculously bad." her voice was a mutter, but meant for Athalia to hear.

Scylla dropped the chinese on the floor, bending over to pull out her crab rangoon before straightening and gesturing. "Have at it, by the way, everyone."

Pursing her lips, Scylla turned her attention to the computer. "What kind of information can you give us on the way Velenians use energy? You say that technology is extreme, and the Moon Kingdom did not trust it. You said no research had been conducted on susceptibility to Chaos, but can you compare compatibility in their energy styles? Say... if the Negaverse got their hands on Velencyan technology."

The console chirped pleasantly despite Scylla’s frustration.

“Cosmos is not presently available, but I can take a message for her to receive at her earliest convenience. Thank you.”

It chirped, twice more; the screen glitched and the machine seemed to shut down for a second before it booted up quickly.

It’s speech stuttered initially, but it answered, “Velencians are known to recycle energy. Velencya is made of recycled energy. The Moon Kingdom has been unable to create synthetic cores. The Velencian Core cannot be confirmed stable. Erratic energy outbursts could be catastrophic and could impact life on all nearby worlds. We cannot risk contamination and pollution of worlds and empty space. However.”

The machine was silent, processing, and then: “We have no information on,” it repeated in a slightly off tone, “the Negaverse. Please upload coordinates and we can search our database for localized information.”

"If they were killed, taken through a mirror or corrupted then the solution to that situation is relatively simple," Athalia responded coolly. He had no qualms when it came to getting blood on his hands and failed to see the value of practically begging for an absolute failure to return to the 'right' side. With no way to bring them to their knees and force them to see sense, a corrupted senshi was about as useful to him as a gun without bullets... He could probably lift them up and bludgeon their ally with them, but ultimately it would do little else.

More importantly, if he turned his back while nearby then there was every chance he would get shot in the back. Whether it be bullet or magic was irrelevant, he simply had no tolerance for their existence at this particular point in time.

He had already taken note of the remarks from his own questions, half glancing towards the console and its peculiar behaviour whenever it cam to the Velencya's their entirely fake existence, and the potential for considerable damage if something went wrong. He really shouldn't have been surprised and in the grand scheme of things he probably wasn't. They'd brought a super weapon with them that required them to suck life out of unwilling individuals with the possibility of what...

Maybe harming others?

He did squint though at the otherwise abnormal stuttering, he was no IT guy, but that didn't seem right.

"You know I'm no scientist but the laws of physics literally dictate that you can't create energy from nothing," he mused with a raised brow as he glanced into the bag of food and inspected what lay there. It wasn't long before he pulled out the noodle box and flicked the chopsticks into his fingers. "More importantly, there's a degree of decay that means that in time they're going to run out, you can only recycle something for so long," he murmured and shook his head.

"They'll have to start siphoning their fuel from somewhere," he added before eyeing the console again with a small sigh.

"Do you have any information on any other known chaotic entities or factions that possess the ability to consume energy from living beings?" he asked. "And what would the energy displayed by these entities be comparable to Velencya's?"

“There are no known Chaotic Entities in the Sol System,” the console chirped pleasantly, like it was proud of how safe they were.

A thousand years ago, before they’d all turned to dust.

“Energy consumption is not an anomaly. Many worlds have rituals that incorporate a flow of energy. Energy flows through the universe and can be harnessed in a variety of ways. Some cultures consider it an honor to give their life energy to their world. The Moon Kingdom cannot dictate what is appropriate or inappropriate based on individual customs. As long as there is no act of war or hostilities from one party to another, we do not intervene. It is impossible to calculate how many worlds use energy transfers and to what extent they can manipulate this energy but I can pull up specific data if you have a request.”

The screen flickered again but it seemed as though the console was just old and out of use and struggling to keep up.

“Chaos consumes energy,” it added, not quite an afterthought but like it had to break up its answers into pieces as it processed them. The tone changed, still electronic and with a faux persona, but something about it seemed more serious now. “Energy is not recycled when Chaos devours it. Energy is manipulated and twisted into something else. We do not have adequate studies on the effect of Chaos or the powers it can manifest. Please submit an immediate inquiry for Queen Serenity if you have located any source of Chaos in the Sol System. We cannot allow it to spread.”

"We'd like to submit an immediate inquiry for Queen Serenity," Scylla said promptly, "And you know, anyone else in charge. A source of Chaos was identified on Earth about, oh, a decade ago. It is called the Negaverse. We've been fighting it while you, my computerized friend, have been taking a NAP."

Viciously, Scylla tore into one of her crab rangoon.

Well this was useless. Or maybe they weren't asking the right questions.

"Can you give us information on an entity called Metallia?" she asked after a moment. "Planet of origin, known patterns." Another pause. "And any non-Sol entities or species known that consume energy. Or eat starseeds?"

"That's technically recycling," Athalia mumbled as he picked up some of the noodles and twirled them between his chopsticks. "Just not in the way Ms. Serenity thinks is appropriate," he pointed out while side eyeing the computer. That didn't mean he was in favour of Chaos's manipulation of energy, it certainly warped and mutated things, but given he was had now had the pleasure of discovering his own kind were perfectly fine with their own questionable methods... It was a little hypocritical to take the high ground.

"Isn't she dead anyway?" he added with a lifted brow. He glanced briefly at the computer again and then back to Scylla before shaking his head. "I'm not sure how raising a query to a dead person will help matters, this thing seems like it's in desperate need of some TLC," he pointed out. No doubt Scylla was trying her best to get some answers out of it, but it looked like rather than be even remotely useful...This 'Cosmos' had once again fled with her tail between her legs and left the equivalent of a useless secretary to take a message.

...Why was she supposed to be one of the most highly revered and respected of their kind?

He wasn't buying it right now.

"If all else fails we can drag a few Mauvians in here and see if they can fix it," he suggested. "And if that fails then we might as well smash it apart, maybe then the wayward woman who actually should have shown up will have to do something somewhat useful," he finished. Safe to say he'd never met Cosmos, but first impressions were key and so far she hadn't made a great one.

Aogashima had, largely, just been listening along as the others asked the device questions, wondering if any of it was good or bad news. As a page, she wasn’t exactly, um, she wasn’t exactly… well, she didn’t have magic like the senshi did, so for the most part, she figured if anything bad was happening, it’d largely be up to them to stop it? Not that she hadn’t been volunteering to give energy to the Valenciens or anything before her sister had stopped her, that was—

Of course, the answers the two older senshi were asking didn’t seem to be resulting in favorable answers, it looked like, and while Aogashima had previously been waiting for them to finish asking all the questions they wanted to ask so she could sneakily ask hers once they had left, Athalia was suggesting smashing the machine in order to get Cosmos’ attention, and well…

That, um, that wouldn’t be good, that was for sure!! Aogashima looked slightly panicked, a rare look for the normally cheery Cosmos page, though she hoped that it didn’t show. The two senshi asking questions were only slightly older than her sister, probably actually around Mariel’s age, but either way, she wanted to keep what she wanted to ask a secret, because no doubt they’d lecture her just like her sister did, or something.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 13, 2021 8:04 pm

The console made a sharp, unpleasant sound, and the tone remained chipper but it seemed like it was at least somewhat aware of Athalia’s grumblings.

“If you attempt to destroy or dismantle any property of the Moon Kingdom, I am afraid I will have no choice but to remove you. This is a place of safety and learning. Peace is priority. Please do not make threats against the Royal Family. I will put in a request for a meeting with Queen Serenity.”

It chimed, like little bells were going off inside of it. “Queen Serenity has an open schedule. Please visit the Main Hall at noon.”

Only, the Main Hall was in shambles, and Queen Serenity was nowhere to be found. The machine might have had some artificial intelligence but it could only give so much information and guidance, and it didn't seem like it had been programmed with any new information about Chaos on Earth or anything that had happened during the fall of the Silver Millennium.

“Earth has not submitted a request for assistance with Chaos pollution. We will send a formal request for information. Metallia is unknown. We will file a formal inquiry. We have no reports on those issues. All known threats have been sealed or destroyed. I cannot access those files for you.”

Scylla closed her eyes. "Okay," she exhaled, "Rather than bothering Queen Serenity, is there like... an emergency system we can appeal to? Like... Chaos is bad. Chaos is real bad. And you're all suspicious about the Velencians, and they've shown up on Earth now too. You're all we cannot risk contamination and pollution of worlds and empty space, but you have contaminated science in your back yard. And multiple senshi present telling you there is a problem. Surely that can allow for some advanced processing of our request, like... sending out the moon police to check it out or something."

She was starting to get a headache and her mind spun in circles, trying to think of how to actually get something useful out of it.

"No information available on Chaos entities. Earth never told them there was a problem before it got..." Scylla drew her finger over her throat, looking at Athalia. "Queen Serenity is available at noon, but she's dead."

Pausing, Scylla asked, "Excuse, computer, please double-check the status of Queen Serenity. We're under the impression she's... not living in the palace anymore. You checked that Sailor Velenia is not in the cauldron... can you check on your Queen? If she's not available, and Cosmos directed us to you, who else can we talk to?"

Biting her lip, she added, "Is there any known way to like... block Velencyan energy usage? Or any way to shield against the way they drain? Keep them from taking away from people who don't want to donate?"

Lifting her head, she looked around the room. "Has anyone checked out what's behind that door?" she asked, pointing. "Hawara, perhaps you could take Aogashima and check it out?

Her lip was starting to grow dry, her teeth gouging into it nervously. There had to be SOMETHING. Surely Cosmos wouldn't have directed them somewhere useless... right?

He was fiddling with his chopsticks, though remained aware of Scylla's exasperated attempts to get the computer to respond with anything of use. Unfortunately he was beginning to realise that there was a distinct possibility this was all supposed to be a bit of a sick joke. Rather than deal with their queries herself, Cosmos had deposited them beside an otherwise useless device in what he could only assume was an attempt to placate them and waste their time.

After a moment, he did flick his gaze back to the computer console, his lips pursed in to a thin line. All of Scylla's questions were valid, but based on the replies they had gotten so far and the very small degree of hostility in reference to Serenity's demise, he was doubtful that they would receive anything of use from this one. It was either broken, severely out of date, or was deliberating holding back information. Suffice to say that he did not have nearly enough expertise in alien technology to take a stab at addressing any of those issues.

"I'm not entirely convinced that it will give you the answer you're looking for," he said after a moment of thought. Perhaps Hawara and Aogashima would have more success elsewhere, if there even was anything else they could investigate, but as it stood the console was questionable at best.

"I'm beginning to wonder if we've been brought here to be distracted like one would a toddler," he sighed, stirring the noodles periodically in their box. "Serenity is very much dead, the computer is about a thousand years out of date if it's unaware of that," he grumbled. "It's oblivious to the fact that Earth is overrun and even though we have indicated several times that it is, the device lacks the capacity to care or provide anything useful to assist with that."

...Well if it was going to threaten him, he might as well insult it, that was how his relationship with technology normally worked.

"For all intents and purposes we're being led on a wild goose chase by a woman who does not want to face the issue head on," he lifted his brow.

"Anyone I've ever met who plays that game either doesn't care, refuses to take responsibility and has fled from it, or they're happy to let the entire thing happen," he stated coolly.

He paused.

"So perhaps we try a different approach with this piece of space junk and find out if the entire reason Cosmos has decided to avoid us is because she wants our new found guests to leech off humanity and she's completely on board with the prospect of us sinking to the levels of the very thing we are supposed to stop," he growled.

"She doesn't want to tell us herself that she wants Earth to be consumed, she doesn't want to tell us herself that we need to sink to the levels of our enemy, but she's happy to waste our time while our own kind are out there sucking the life out of others because a blue face moron has decided his way is the only way."

He'd never met Cosmos - he might even be doing her a considerable disservice...but he definitely wasn't her biggest fan right now. At least she lived up to the reputation of actual phenomenal powers, indifference was more their speed than being otherwise 'useful'.

"So computer," he turned to the console again. "Does Cosmos want us to allow Velencyans to build a super weapon on Earth. Does Cosmos want us to leech energy just like Chaos does? Does Cosmos want us to stand back and watch as we descend to the same levels as Chaos does?" he asked.

"Or better yet, does your Queen want that?"

Eh, why not try. She was dead but it wasn't as if they console even believed him on that one.

This terminal was clearly very out of date on its information. Hawara, who had been listening with arms crossed, rolled his eyes and let out a sigh as its automated answers gave them little to go on, just more questions.

When Scylla asked about a particular door, Hawara looked, and surely enough the senshi suggested he and Aogashima, take a look at what may be behind it.

"Sure. Not finding out much standing here with that thing," He said in regards to the terminal.

He motioned for Aogashima to join him as he made his way over to the aforementioned door. It opened, thankfully, with a moderate effort due to the passing of time doing its thing as it seemed to also have done to the hall that lay beyond it.

He took a tentative step out of the door way and in to the hall, walking past broken arches and crumbled doorways. The hall was long, empty save for the rubble, but he could see an open room at the end. Spending no more time meandering, the Uranus knight walked briskly stopping just before the doorway of the small room. He placed a hand on the weathered moulding around the entry way. At first look, was this like....just some celestial broom closet? Surely not. But there were no decorations, no windows, no doors.

A single pedestal stood in the center, however and upon it a piece of the Code which had been recovered from the fallen Knight Academy.

They stuck the Code Piece in a broom closet.

How......

......disgraceful.

The Code was a powerful thing that Knights were meant to protect. Each of their wonders had a very small piece of it. The larger Cornerstone pieces, were their collective duty to protect. This was one of them. Cornerstone pieces are still sentient. He could have asked this piece of the code about the aliens now on Earth. he could have alerted those in the room they had arrived in of this discovery. He could have, but he felt a strong pull not to. A part of him that deeply felt the knightly duty to protect the Code didn't want anyone else to know.... At least, not anyone else who wasn't a Knight. He was not so arrogant as to believe that he alone could protect a Cornerstone piece, let alone on a world not his own.

Never the less, there was Aogashima, so he knew keeping this between just himself and the Code wasn't going to happen regardless. He just had to be sure the Page was aware of how important this was.

"This is a Cornerstone piece of the Code. Have you been told about the Code?" he asked the Page.

He would explain if they didn't know, but he didn't want to info-dump where it wasn't needed.

Aogashima was quite relieved to know that the computer wasn't about to be smashed into smithereens before she could ask her Very Important Idol Questions, but also conflicted, because it wasn't giving out the information that Scylla and Athalia seemed to be seeking. When the suggestion was brought up that she and the other knight present go check out what was behind the only door leading out of the room, the petite page followed after the older knight when beckoned, curious as to what they would find.

At first, there was nothing, just a long hallway that seemed like it once would have branched off into other rooms- if it wasn't currently in ruins. At the end of the hallway, though, was another story, and Aogashima followed Hawara into a small room, which contained no decorations or furniture, other than a pedestal that held, um.

Something glowy? Gosh, this was a little embarrassing- probably another of those things Hakodate had tried to explain to her- but Aogashima wasn't sure what it was, exactly, or what to call it, until Hawara gave it a name. Or was the right wording, put a name to a face? Something. Her years of English-language lessons mixed with her recent Duolingo lessons of other languages had muddled her brain, combined with all that studying her sister was always making her do. See, this was why Mariel had the right idea, with skipping out on class.

"I, um. Maybe?" Aogashima finally offered, frowning, "My big sis thinks she's some sort of big know-it-all, just because she's so smart. She might have tried to say something about it during one of her lectures..."

Man, she was going to have to make Hakodate come here sometime, wasn't she?

“The Moon Kingdom does not approve of high-tech warfare. A Velencian weapon on Earth would be highly inappropriate. Cosmos does not have jurisdiction of Earth or the Moon. Cosmos protects the Cauldron. It would be inappropriate to speak of her motivations but it would be unlikely she would support any destruction of life.”

The Console made a ticking noise now, like a fan was blocked. It clacked for a few seconds and then returned to normal.

“Queen Serenity has open appointments. I will schedule one for you. All off-world intervention requires her approval. Please bring documentation so we can best assess your situation. Velencians have not shared information on their technological advancements. If there is a way to counter their energy usage we have not discovered it. They are non-hostile and are not considered a threat beyond their improper energy harnessing techniques. Is this information meant to be used offensively? We cannot condone any act of war. Velenian energy is pure and highly refineable. Velencya is less stable. It may be easy to overload a poorly constructed system. Information inconclusive.”

In the other room, the Code swirled in the presence of Hawara and Aogashima. It had an easy presence and there was something curious about it.

It watched them. It listened.

It waited.
