“I… do not get told that often.” He admitted sounding a little dazed. He felt more pleased than he would have readily admitted. “Ah… would it be uh… rude to ask about the shooting range?” he asked with a little more caution, but also a great deal of curiosity. “I’ve been doing a bit of study on projectile weaponry through the ages, some of it is absolutely fascinating how it’s persisted through the um…” He cleared his throat and flushed, ducking his head slightly. “I feel as though I should offer some fascinating new place to visit, but I don’t go an exceptional number of places. Ah… unless you have a vested interest in the Library or um… a very good cup of Chai. I can’t exactly bring you to um, where I intern, and mostly I do cataloging sketches so…” He waved his hands trying to encompass his explanation.

There was something amusing in the way he ducked his head like that when he realized how much he had started to ramble about the shooting range. It was like he thought he would annoy her sharing an interest in the history of something she loved. "You know," Imara offered, putting on a mix of her practiced smile with one she normally gave her brothers when they did something silly. "I think the aquarium had a cafe back on one of the other levels. Why don't we grab a snack and you can tell me about everything you find fascinating in regards to projectile weaponry. In return, I can share with you how some things work in the modern age. I'm not just good with a gun after all." He should see her with a bow and arrow. "You can also explain to me what a job cataloging sketches involves." That was curious.

“Ah, they do have a cafe, it’s alright…” He admitted though he was less partial to the presence of the if admittedly well thought out, ocean theme chicken nuggets. “It’s… I’m less… documenting sketches as I provide sketches of objects and… artifacts, it means that they can be referenced easily with minimal handling because some are…” He waved his hands trying to explain but somehow at a loss for simple words. “Well, irreplaceable…beyond that I can take very fast notes, I just uh… “ he huffed and made a face. “Have, apparently abysmal handwriting, so I have to type it up afterward. It must work out well enough because I’m still with them…” he laughed softly.

"Well if your sketches here are any indication, I'd say they see the value." Imara nodded, motioning with her head towards the sketchbook he held while glancing around for the sign back out of the shark viewing area and towards the main lobby. She motioned for him to join her as she walked. "It must be fun to work with historical items. Guess that explains your interest in projectiles?" That made her grin a bit as they moved through the glass tunnel where everyone stood or walked with their heads looking up. "Anything catch your eye?"

“Hmm? In the walk here? Ah… there is an enormous pufferfish who likes to sit… up there…” He pointed upwards and to the right, where through the distorted curve of the glass you could indeed make out an enormous pufferfish, whose expression looked like judgement incarnate, embodied on a fish whose body was reminiscent of a football. “I like to think he enjoys watching people.” He admitted. “And…yes, also I have terrible aim, or I used to, I thought if I found something I enjoyed, I might get better. Though… I have found out that there are some things that I just... I’m still not good at.” “W… what about you? What do you prefer to do? How did you find what you liked?”

Maybe it was rude, maybe it was uncalled for but Imara couldn't help it. His answer of the pufferfish made her stop in her tracks, cover her mouth, and bust out laughing. A few people turned to look at her as she leaned against the railing preventing people from touching the glass until she could breathe again. Oh she owed him for this but now everytime she looked up and saw the fish, all she could do was see it judging them. "I'll never look at them the same way." The words were breathy as she finally looked at him with a smile. "Though before seeing them as the Mean Girls of fish, I just saw them as a poky ball." "Sorry. You caught me off guard." She admitted, joining him once more as several people began to whisper. She clearly didn't care. "Anyway," She mused. "Found what I liked. In what manner of speaking? Work? Ranged weapons? Airplane travel? Men?" She pointed up above them. "Sea creatures because that one is easy. Most of the ones I like are either amazing hunters or very tasty."

“A….Ah…” He realized “You… meant weapons.” He grimaced, ah… well… I tried the bow, but I found out that my dominant eye isn’t the one that would be ideal for that.” “I… I meant ranged weapons as well… pufferfish on a string, sadly, do not count. Even if you do get sent one in the mail that’s been puffed up and dried.” He made a face as he spoke and then sighed deeply. “And… yes, that is an experience that I had, it was wrapped in newspapers, and it stabbed me so many times because I picked the newspapers up… it had, those little craft store rattle-eyes and it looked like they probably put the air hose into it from an unexpected direction, the… way its face was I mean.”

"You may be on to something." The look she offered him was one of consideration as she considered the 'dangers' of something like a poisonous fish on a string. Yet she shook it all off the moment he continued, looking at him with a cocked brow. "You were sent a pufferfish. On a string. In the mail?" "Alright, that's a story I need to hear. Because either you are a mad man for order one or have some very odd friends."

He laughed and shook his head. “Ah… A family member…” he said and waved his hand like he could brush the person away with that gesture. “They just, are… “ He shook his head and rolled his eyes. “That puffer fish? They’d be absolutely in their rights to judge the things that they send. I used to try and make sense of it but, now I just wonder what sort of dive they were in to find the absurd things they send.” He laughed softly. “I think the idea was to hang it from the ceiling, sort of an absurdist tropical theme decoration, but I was so frustrated from all the little stabs in my hand had me so mad because it was still wrapped in paper that I chucked the dang thing. but the string caught my hand and it ended up being slung halfway through the house and…well it didn’t go so well for anyone.” He laughed again, a soft huff of breath.

And Imara had believed she had strange family jokes. Pufferfish was a new one. Now did she send one to Chris or Matt? "How much did you break?" She mused, crossing her arms a moment as she glanced up one more time at the puffer that clearly seemed to know they were talking about another one of its kind. Zac wasn't wrong. Judgy fish. "Though it does remind me of one time one of my brothers decided to prank our mother. Gave her a nice box with a dead squirrel inside. We have hunting dogs. You can picture how that went when mom threw the box." endejester Why yes she was raised in the country

“Uh… a coffee mug, a small lamp, and um… a laptop bought home for work.” He admitted shrinking slowly into his own shoulders at the memory. He did arch his eyebrows and gawp at the unfortunate fate of the squirrel. “Did they… eat it, or roll in it…. or just, both?” He asked cautiously.

"To spare you the details," She offered one of those 'what do you think looks', "we had a litter of five pups at the time." "Thing is, game meat is what we normally eat in our house so after she had calmed down, I know Mom would have made something with it. But after the pups learned what a squirrel was, we decided pizza was the better call." With a sort of half shrug, she realized she may have just...very much disturbed the man. "Sorry, by the way." Not everyone was okay with game meat...

He let out a soft laugh, shaking his head in a sort of detached amusement. “Well… I suppose worse things could have happened. So don’t be sorry, it’s a good story. I mean, perhaps not if I was a vegetarian or vegan, but I’m not… and even if I were, I recognize that we’re by nature omnivores.” He shrugged. “Maybe… next time, you could suggest a squirrel meat pizza I suppose.”

Imara's brow shot up at the idea. Squirrel Meat Pizza. Huh. She'd have to suggest that to the twins and have them try it out one night. They were starting into a try everything, even the random things no one normally ate phase so who better to let their iron stomachs put it to the test. "I'll let you know how that one goes." She finally offered, thinking about what short of other toppings could go onto it. Maybe it was a mix of all her years working in a restaurant that she was playing with the idea, maybe she was just...odd?

“I mean, if you season it right, you can put a lot of things on pizza. Some of them sort of fall outside of my ‘anything I want to try’ but… I’d try squirrel pizza faster than uh… Banana Curry Pizza I saw someone mention once, or the Mc Donald’s Pizza….” He gave a shudder. “But…I mean they exist, so people must like them… “ He continued hastily. “Like, I hate the taste of Lobster but…people seem super into that.”
