Gapped like a singing bass, except nothing came out the hole of his mouth, no electronic croon cast forth to belie his thoughts unto the world. Opened and closed, bit his lip, and sealed them together in a thin line as he p r o c e s s e d. . . . .Because there were no thoughts to have - or maybe too many thoughts - or ******** maybe..... "You came for him?" bit into that one first, wound his tongue round the sound of a question instead of wrapping it around the sadistically smooth smile that Faustite tucked away behind a remaining teacup. Resisted the urge to eat the smug look off the mans face. Eat the ******** cup with it, and make a mess of red like an errant child who'd decided to drink all of the strawberry jelly out of the jar instead of ever thinking to use single ounce of bread to swipe it up. Line of his mouth that quirked into a grin over the thought of Jelly - went straight to the thoughts of 'water based or oil?', broke his own ******** mood over a repressed snicker, because those things too, came flavored in strawberry and.... "You came for him, and that's good enough for me, instant likeability points. Plus! Nemb's needs some goddamned girl time." felt the slow spread of his smile take up hsi face, swallowed his fear under other thoughts. Oh, how his poor girl had suffered under a barrage of boys who didn't know what to do with their toys - or henshin pens - or ******** cats and inaccessible worlds. Even if he wanted to live in his own fear of inevitably ******** up - which he knew he would, because ******** was inevitable - he was at least glad Faustite was giving him someone smart to start with. Intelligent beyond measure and beauty that made people forget she had brains above the swell of her assets. Yeah, they'd get along fine. "Awh Lil's, there's no way we couldn't get along, yeah? Even if you like - put one of your really pretty heels up my a** - I just...Lissn' Firebrand, ya gotta uh..I can still come to you for like, info on how to do the thing, right? Or - is there a thing I should do with her..cause uh..pretty sure she's better at the whole senshi-ing bit than me." sifted between a smile for her and a look that bordered on consternated worry for Faustite. Wanted to test the ground they stood on and see if it still held - could handle being ******** with - infinitely, but.... Are we good - are we gonna be good - you can ******** with me all you want but you gotta tell me we're good? unexpected doubt worms that chewed at his brain - ate little pinholes as they wriggled through the meat of it.

Lilith laughed, softly. Albite was fun, that was for sure--brash and loud and bold, and maybe he wasn't a genius, but that was just fine with her.
She took a sip of her tea, and nodded.
"I wanted this assignment. Better to pick someone I like than get shoved on someone," she shrugged her shoulders, and flashed both Faustite and Albite a grin. "So here we are. And hey, I'd be happy to help you figure out whatever you need to figure out--I definitely don't know everything, but I know a lot."
Carefully, she set her teacup aside on an upturned table that had enough flat space available to hold it, and she stood up. She bowed at the waist, clasping her hands in front of her, just the way her mother had taught her.
"Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!"

Sad that he would have to give up on leaving Albite stranded at sea so early, but there was nothing for it. Fluttered smirk vanished under the teacup, and Faustite swallowed his mirth for solemnity. "Better to have her as a subordinate than anyone else. She'll teach you how to teach. Mentor in all but rank.
"You can ask me for anything, but my knowledge won't always be free. Don't let that dissuade you." Took a sip for it, feeling parched for having to speak so much already. The boy could not be appeased with gesture or action so much as he could with words. Couldn't stay safe in his quiet headbox, and Faustite was certain the whole damned thing would shut down for good — collapse like wet cardboard — if there wasn't a little noise to keep it occupied. Sense be damned; word salad was as good as intellectually dense conversation.
Looked to Lilith then, and flame eyes kindled on her. She was smart enough to get herself through the Rift as a basic senshi; small wonder she hadn't been promoted already. Faustite supposed that was due in part, to having no one to advocate for her. As much as the Negaverse liked to build itself on skill, names mattered more — and a good name to back her meant a good position.
Which meant, between himself and Albite, that she'd likely never pass basic. Faustite frowned at his nearly empty cup.
Then Lilith went all formal on them and said some ******** s**t. Rolled his eyes for it, knowing Albite would be twice as confused and half as sure of himself as he was before.
"Try not to break him on the first go," he added as he retired his teacup to a less precarious part of the desk. "Then you'd be under Nembus, and she'd have a stroke if she heard she got another subordinate so soon."

He was going to ask Faustite for * everything*. The amount of things it would’ve taken to dissuade him from going to his boss -- whatever the cost to get the venture he was undertaking to go close enough to sideways of being right. * Worth it.* Just like Lilith seemed worth it. Seemed worthy. Albite liked her infinitely more with every passing second, every word from her lips. Felt something suddenly like kinship in meeting someone who was into choosing a destiny instead of having it foisted on them. Burnished warmth that ran bone deep for not feeling alone in his own choices - cause Faustite was worth it, and this proved it, and it wasn’t like he hadn’t ******** known that from go — but he’d never had a team before - no responsibilities except for himself, and the orbies of course, but none of that was the same as being responsible for another person! He owed Nembus like - thirty apology letters and a cake. Maybe a spa day? Maybe something that read ‘sorry I stressed the ******** outta u’ - except written prettier then that. N then between the two of them? The utter relief for the fact that he was getting practice - the way his face broke with a ******** grin for the cute s**t that fell outta Liliths mouth. Because on top of everything else? Faustite cared enough that he wasn’t expecting him to wing it - and Lilith was going to help him by letting him play baby-boss in training on her. “Heh, we’ll all be good then” especially since he didn’t have the first clue what he’d need to figure out, but she’d help when he did figure it - so that was enough. “Oh, yeah, please be gentle with me ‘oppai-sama’ I tend to break easy. Ah, mentally!? Not - ok - physically I’m a workhorse, but Yanno?” tried to get the words out with something like a straight face. Just because he didn’t know what she’d said didn’t mean he couldn’t respond with something polite! He totally knew s**t - for sure! Could try at it and get corrected for being incorrect. Would figure it out from there if that was what it took. Try things until it all stuck and he had it worked out properly. The whole ‘ oh ******** we have a real team now’ feeling.

Lilith straightened, quickly, looking between her two superiors and smiling with an edge of smugness. This was certainly going to make her time in the Negaverse more interesting, having these two and a real team and everything.
"I'm very careful with my toys. I like to use them more than once." She batted her eyelashes at Faustite, and gave Albite a grin that was just to the left of being actually suggestive. Hitting on her superiors probably wasn't appropriate.
...Sure was fun, though.
She tapped her cheek, briefly, looking thoughtful as she considered Albite's little nickname.
"Hm, you know, oppai-sama will do." She quirked her eyebrows. "Or oppai-hime, but I suppose I'm nowhere near Princess yet." And she wouldn't be for a long time, but that was alright. She sat back down and picked up her teacup. "If I might make a suggestion? We should probably make an effort to schedule some sort of team training exercise. Best to see how we all operate in a fight--and I haven't even had the opportunity to meet Nembus face to face, so I'd like to correct that. We should get an idea of how we all work together as a team, no?"

Strange to feel like a third wheel in a conversation that took place in his office, but Faustite was a measure grateful for it. Gave him peace to sip his tea while they went on about ******** euro-chic guy-she moss was. ******** knows what Albite said, either. Faustite was fine to sip tea and mentally gravitate toward his remaining tasks for the evening, pre-draining-stint.
He started searching for a pen again. Since Albite provoked him and ******** up his office, he hadn't been able to track down half of what he needed. Couldn't find anything he wanted, either. While they spoke, he took a cursory look through two drawers, and started on the third before he realized he was better off looking for pens in the corners of the room.
He rose, started toward the far wall —
But Lilith opened her mouth like she had a good idea. Faustite stopped in his tracks.
His lips pressed into a line. He made to sip more tea, quell his perpetual irritation, but his cup was empty. So was his patience.
"You will wait," he said without turning. "Nembus is on break until next Wednesday. You'll be summoned after that. You'll either meet and spar, or meet and get killed by youma together." Hopefully the former, but at least they fed some youma and took a couple senshi out of the rebirth cycle if it was the latter.
Response given, he finished his trek to the corner of the room. And — there. A pen, shoved into the angle between floor and wall. He picked it up with a small smile for his fortune.
"If you're done getting acquainted," Faustite stood and turned, and that smile was long gone. He pointed, with the butt of his pen, at the door.

Ears ******** up for the mention of Nembus from Faustite, and he said she was off - and it’d been a minute - not since the park ********. Except she’d checked in with the boss, which must’ve meant she was okay, which must’ve meant… Albite shook the thoughts loose. Let everything that he wanted circling that drop dead in the air, breathed past it. He had a subordinate to manage, kinda, sorta, and Faustites tone didn’t lend to sitting around and playing in the ash piles with the orbies. “Totally not done getting acquainted, but we can do that somewhere else, yeah? Like, I gotta get to know you if we’re gonna be here with battle bells on by next week, huh lils?” shy smile tossed her way, and she woulda been a ducking amazing princess, stunning in step, and they could totally talk about it. Just maybe —- “Whaddya say oppa-mamma, trust me to bamph us outta here? We can make a try at your place if you give me a local! I’ve been practicing solo even.” proud little look, primed stance, eager to bounce out before he burned whatever good graces he’d managed to salvage with Faustite. Could reach out tentatively to Nembus, to Delilah, see what came back in text, a gentle check in before the real Check in.

Well. This meeting was certainly over, and rather than impose upon Faustite's hospitality any more, Lilith took a moment to finish her tea--no purpose in wasting it!--and nodded along with his sharp orders. She stood up from her seat, and walked over to his desk to leave her empty cup there.
"My apologies if I overstepped, General," she said, very smoothly, with the tone of someone who was very used to dealing with people who were angry with her.
(Faustite was not her father. Faustite was volatile, yes, but he hadn't yet turned on her.)
She turned to Albite with a broad smile, and offered her arm.
"Next week, then, and we'll all get to have a lovely time together. For now, though, yes, Albite, why don't you get us out of here? I'd hate to overstay our welcome."
Smile. Act like nothing is wrong. Comply as quickly as possible.
"My building is pretty new; it's on Twentieth, has a couple of restaurants--a bakery, a ramen place--and a boutique clothing place on the first floor. You've probably seen it once or twice, if you've had cause to go out that way."

"I promise to try, yeah?" Had an idea - rough rough outline of one - could picture something like it enough in his minds eye, and he needed the practice anyhow. If he missed his mark by yards..by miles? Either it wouldn't work at all or they'd end up somewhere that looked enough like her place..and...uhh.... Made it easier that he had Faustite in the room. Surrounded by sight, sound, and scent of the man. Simple thing to reach out to Lillith. Breath in all the things that lit him up for the idea through stepping through the void - sucking on energy and 'trying at it' - "Well see you next week Firebrand...and...uh..Thanks again." "*For everything*"Let the words lay unsaid as he took Lillith gently - and pulled her back - closed his eyes and focused enough that he pulled her through the void along with himself. Snapcrackle harshness of too much power expended all in one. Quote: Finning it up for the sake of A: Finned things and B: sanity with meta and C: super excitement for all the future goodness to come!
