Admittedly, this...was the part she'd been most nervous about. The thought of marriage? A little dodgy, but their lives wouldn't change if he'd said no. But this? This was...a touchy subject.
"I've been thinking about it for some time." She admitted. "I feel like I missed out on so much when Lioe, Isaia and Zadia were born. When they were little it was...overwhelming and I was scared. I did a lot of things, said a lot of things, that I'm not proud of." That much they'd already discussed, but it just felt like she could always do more. That it was never really going to make up for lost time. "Then they moved to Tale and it was good. I don't regret having them grow up there, but it was hard coming back and seeing how much they'd grown. "
Settling back into her seat, Maritza nodded her head and there was a calmness about her. One that hadn't been there when she'd first found out she was going to be a mother. Now she was confident. "I've discussed it with Captain Marrow and he's prepared to keep me at the dock for general repairs over the next ten years. It's a pay decrease, but I'll still be working." She couldn't stay home all the time, that much she knew already, but at least this way she could be around.

[9/10]
Well, that he understood. He'd seen it on her face, and she'd said as much whenever they saw one another, back in Tale. She'd come home, they would play house for a time, and then she would return to work and she'd be gone for a time. The kids missed her, deeply, but when she came home she made it worth the wait. At least Uquin thought so, the kids? They weren't always frank with him, and the few times Isaia had vented about it Uquin might have shut the conversation down a bit too quickly. What would the kids think? Would they be excited, or feel... perhaps, envious?
To him though, it felt... it sounded- good, that Maritza would stay. That she'd thought about it hard enough to have actually made adjustments. He missed her when she was gone, and the prospect of her being around more often - it made him feel bubbly, excited. And another child - it was a huge decision, and they could risk having more than one AGAIN, and-- and it would be... difficult, but...
"... I don't know how my health will go, in the future. I wasn't a young man, even when the triplets were born. Now- by the time they're toddlers..." He sighed, but then reached across the table, taking Maritza's hand. "But I'm here. And... and it would be nice, to do it... this way, for once. To not have it be a surprise, or... a source of stress for either of us. If I was to do it, all over again, it'd be with you anyway so... you have my complete support in this."

"I don't know if you've noticed-" Maritza gave his hand a squeeze, "-but my line of work isn't safe. I could have passed a long time before now, could still do it tomorrow, so I'm not worried about how much time we have left. I'm worried about the quality of it."
Of course it was in the back of her mind; how could it not be? From time to time she would stop to think about the state of things on the airship, about how she could very well be coming home to a funeral or even how her children might receive her own body like a piece of cargo. Life wasn't certain at any moment, but...she was glad she'd found someone who understood that. Who could embrace it for what it was and make it amazing.
"We'll take it one day at a time. I just...really hope we don't have four. Your numbers just seem to rise."

Right. Uquin had learned that long ago when Maritza mentioned why she had short hair. He hated the idea of that - of just... finding out one day she'd gotten killed, and he didn't even know it - but they'd been lucky. She was... she was smart, she knew how to avoid all that ... right?
Right. Even better reason for her to be here, at home, for the next ten years. She admitted the work locally was still dangerous, but hopefully nothing as dangerous as the ships themselves.
"Spirits forbid." He gasped, laughing. But he pulled her hand up, kissing it, looking at her warmly. "... Alright. Then we will get married, and... try for another child. Gods - the kids will kill me."

When it came to her own safety Maritza had never really given it another thought. She took steps to prevent accidents, of course, but she also took insurmountable risks and now that Isaia was in the same line of work it just hit differently. What if a cable snapped and hurt him? Or what if he was crushed or burned?
And she wanted to do this again?
"Maybe we should tell your family about it before we do anything this time? And I would really like for Lioe to be there; if only for the ceremony." He may have preferred to stay in Tale, but surely the boy would come over for a wedding? Besides, it would be nice to have everyone in the same place and to celebrate with the entire family, including the children Uquin had before her.
