Once the pictures were all taken and checked over, Sadie settled against the edge of the table, leaning lightly and letting the people who actually knew this kitchen go about the tasks of finding the cutlery, and the plates, and everything. She did shoot a glance down the hall towards where she'd seen Luke earlier, though. "Do I have to worry about everyone in this house eating an entire cake if I turn my back for a few seconds?" she asked, voice still light and on the verge of laughter. Then her good eye flicked to Richard, and she tilted her head a little. "Well, looks like no one's accused you, yet. Are you the responsible one, Arra? Will you help me make sure everyone gets enough?" Although he was already offering Ignacio the knife, so any dreams of Richard becoming the cake distributor were already dying. It was good that she already found she trusted all of them, jokes aside. Sadie relaxed from her perch at the table, smiling gently. She wasn't even trying to hide her face.

Ignacio almost expected Luke to peek out from down the hallway looking like an abandoned golden retriever. When Sadie looked down in that direction, he did too; there was a bit of amused quirk on his lips when he realized Luke hadn't quite shown his face again yet. "Honestly, Arra is the responsible one," Ignacio eagerly took the knife from Richard, turning his attention to the cake. Probably not the most ideal thing for him to say while he was working on cutting a whole cake with a cake knife, but he went to work with his job despite. And, overall, the pieces seemed like they were roughly even- "I mean, to be fair, your opinion of that might change when you inevitably meet the rest of the Bells. I think the most responsible one of the five of you siblings is Connie, right?" He scrunched his nose. "Or maybe Tammer. I think her wife is a bigger troublemaker than she is." Ignacio happily stood back to admire the slices he cut, shot Sadie a wide grin especially at seeing just how comfortable and happy she seemed, and then whipped that grin in Richard's direction. "Mind getting us some plates and silverware, Arra?"

"I will help make sure everyone gets enough," Richard promised with a twinkle in his eye, even as Ignacio took the knife from him and set to work. With a flip of his head and a grin toward his husband, "Ignacio will not be sneaking any extra pieces until everyone gets a piece under my watch, though--" The laughter that followed rolled from his belly when Ignacio agreed he was the responsible one, of all things. A definition his parents absolutely wouldn't have always agreed with, starting from the moment he had coaxed Ignacio to come home with him instead of wandering dead-eyed on the street almost a decade ago. Ignacio had needed help-- Was he supposed to just leave him there-- "I don't disagree with you that Domi and Rochelle absolutely make more trouble than Tammer," Richard very nearly sung as he swept off to grab some plates and silverware as requested, "but to name the responsible ones and not name knight-in-shining-armor Garber almost seems unfair." A few plates were grabbed--one extra for his father, another extra for his mother who would definitely be curious later--and he started his way back to the table. It was ironic, really, that it was Richard that had awoken as a knight and not Garber, if he were honest-- "He's the eldest," offered Richard, by way of explanation, "went to bat for all of us when we were younger. Was the first one of the family to accept this one," he jerked his head toward Ignacio with a wink. He set one plate down in front of Ignacio, and set to work on taking the knife back from Ignacio to make sure Sadie got her piece that she definitely deserved.

It was a little hard for Sadie to say just who in Richard's family might be the most responsible, having never met any of them. She could tell just by the way that the others were talking, though, that they seemed like good people, people who were loved. They sounded like people who would be good for her friend, even if they couldn't necessarily be trusted with an untended cake. "I hear you're maybe a knight in shining armor yourself," she said, a knowing little glint in her eye, although of course she could have just been talking about his general chivalry, or kindness, or something. You didn't just talk about magic when there were fathers listening in from their offices. "Well, at least enough to distribute a cake. Look at this." She took an offered fork and gestured to the piece that had been placed in front of her. "Very fair." Without thinking, she took a bite. Her eyelids fluttered shut as she was transported to a place of rich, chocolatey decadence. The buttercream was thick without being overly heavy, the perfect counterbalance, with a hint of cream cheese in there somewhere. When Sadie opened her eyes again, it looked like she'd seen a miracle. "And very delicious," she said. "Woah." Then her brows wrinkled, slightly. "Wait. Right. Wedding cake. Was I supposed to watch you two, um, shove it into each other's faces, or something, first?"

He had been completely thinking of Domi when saying Tammer's wife, but the mention of Rochelle being just as much of a troublemaker earned a quiet, "Fair," which was then followed up with a, "Okay, you have a point about Garber..." Maybe Richard was actually the least responsible one. Semantics. The knowing glint in Sadie's eyes was met with a twinkle of Ignacio's own. "He is! Doesn't quite have enough armor pieces, though." He glanced back toward Richard and snickered quietly as he started distributing the cake, before dropping his voice a bit lower when he turned back toward Sadie, making sure his voice was low enough that even certain nosy fathers-in-law couldn't hear if they decided to peek in. "Don't worry. They figured me out a while ago. Totally safe. But I do understand if you'd rather them not know about you." It was always hard to figure out who to tell and who not to. It was why he hadn't told Richard for an honestly embarrassingly long time. Maybe he would leave that part out for now. "Hey, see, I can cut an even cake!" He seemed perfectly fine with Sadie taking her delectable bite, and to be honest, lifted up his piece to go ahead and take a bite himself - but stopped halfway when she spoke. He pursed his lips. He looked toward Richard. "I mean, I think last time we did this all we did was make a mess," he lifted the cake toward Richard, nevertheless. "But I mean. For the sake of the wedding tradition, eh?" A grin and a wink to follow.

The knowing glint in her eye was met with warmth in his; Ignacio had mentioned his friend was a knight, and the confirmation was exciting! Maybe there was someone else he could go out with that wouldn't have Encke getting himself all in a knot! Maybe. Maybe! Ignacio clarified that Luke and the rest of his family knew about his status as a knight in shining armor and Richard couldn't help the sheepish grin, offering in response, "yeah, after Ig tried to hide that from me for like, eight years-" he gave him a teasingly hard glance, "- dad figured him out in like, six months." Though perhaps that was Richard's own fault, considering they were both powered but Basiluzzo was a bit less graceful about it than Encke. And then a cat had showed up. Magically and mysteriously. Didn't need a litterbox or anything. Like Sadie, Richard was perfectly happy to dive into his cake. though he stopped mid-bite when she suggested they feed each other. When Ignacio merrily offered a bite of his cake to him, Richard snorted with amusement. It even brought a twinkle to his eyes as he said, "Alright," and let Ignacio miss as he may, happily taking a bite of the cake. The cake was very good. Then, of course, Ignacio got it all but smashed into his face with a gleeful cackle.

Had Sadie brought up the wedding tradition for the sole purpose of getting to watch the husbands smear cake on each other's faces like children? Maybe. She laughed, softly, at Ignacio's gentle offering and Richard's more mischievous one, all while taking another bite of her own delicious slice. It might have been meant to be a little jab, that Ignacio hadn't told Richard about his life for years, but Sadie just shrugged. "It's been almost four years for me, now, and I haven't told anyone in my family," she said. Luke, on the other hand, was apparently going to find out right now, but she didn't mind that, since she trusted Encke's judgement that he was safe. "There's just so many of them, and if one person knows, they're all going to know, and what if any one of them's, um, corrupted?" It was an anxiety that always weighed on her. Not that there wasn't a decent chance they would have figured her out, anyway, with how many times the war had put her in the hospital, but. She wasn't here to dwell on all that. "But I like other knights to know, so, um, hi," she waved again, like she was meeting Richard for the first time, all though of course she didn't power up or anything. "My other name's Pendour, if you ever need anything."

Ignacio had made such a gentle offering, such a polite offering, and all Richard did was smear it all over his face, and Ignacio grumbled part in play before he cackled and jammed the slice of cake he had actually into Richard's face. And promptly swirled back toward Sadie. "And here I was just trying to be nice," he joked, letting out a fake huff. "See?" this was offered as a little teasing jab in turn to Richard, "Not the only person who is nervous about telling family." To be honest, though, her concerns were probably considerably more logical than his. His had been an obsession with keeping people in the dark, because the moment they knew, they knew, and he knew that people especially like Richard knowing would mean that they would start to get involved. And he hadn't been wrong. Richard did start trying to involve himself, though he ended up powering up which had resolved some of that. But to some degree, Luke and Safira had started involving themselves too. And then the rest of the siblings were keenly interested in-- Best to bury that down under another few bites of cake -- or licking some of the cake off of his face, anyway. "Fortunately, no one in this family is corrupted," unless they did an extremely good job of hiding it. Best not to think about it. "They've all been very supportive, honestly." He paused, before letting out a quiet snort, "Besides for the fact that I'm pretty sure Lee and Rochelle both thought I was shitting them." He shot Richard a grin. "She's of Neptune if you're wondering. You're neighbors."

Neptune! "Cool!" As he wiped bits of cake from his face, Richard flashed a grin to the both of them. "I mean, yeah, but can you blame them?" He reached out to smear some of the frosting across Ignacio's nose, purposefully ignoring Ignacio's teasing with little more than a wink. "I think the only reason I rolled with it was because how could I not? There were so many more plausible lies you could have come up with, that that had to be the truth." There had been many more plausible lies Ignacio had come up with over the years, until Richard had finally found him out-- "What's your wonder like?"

Sadie continued to laugh softly as their cake-smearing contest escalated, at least until the talk turned to her Wonder. At that point, her smile turned into something softer, something almost reverent. "Were you Uranus? That would make us neighbors, yeah," she said. "Neptune's about what you'd expect, based on the mythology. It's all oceans, all water. Well, at least based on what I can see from my wonder and what I've heard from the knights I've met. There might be other parts." Maybe there were beaches, or floating cities, or something. It was interesting to imagine, but Pendour hadn't actually seen anything beyond her wonder. "My Wonder's under the sea, all enclosed in glass like the opposite of a fishbowl. As far as I can tell, it was a getaway, maybe a vacation spot in modern terms. There's gardens there, and a place for performances, and a cove where some of the water gets pumped in for swimming in. I finally fixed that, so," she tilted her head, "You can swim, if you ever want to come up."

There were plenty of more plausible lies that Ignacio had told Richard, that Richard had believed, that Richard had believed for years -- it embarrassed Ignacio now. What had been the point? What had it accomplished? Richard had become deeply concerned that there was something somehow worse happening, and Ignacio had just kept running away and dodging until Richard ended up on a bench anyway - It influenced part of why he was much more open with the civilians he trusted, now. Ignacio blew a raspberry at Richard when he wiped frosting on his nose, wiping it back off and smearing it across Richard's forehead in turn. "He's Uranus, yes," offered Ignacio, merrily, before quieting himself and letting her actually explain her wonder to Richard. He took a few actual bites of his cake in the interim. As opposed to shoving most of it in Richard's face. His eyes lit up when she suggested coming up. "You should! Her wonder's gorgeous." Ignacio shot a grin in Richard's direction. "Very relaxing. I also love swimming around in the water. Not the faintest bit like my comet." Some of the wonder of space, honestly...

" Simba," Richard murmured in mock reverence, eyes wide as Ignacio adorned Richard's forehead with frosting. He turned his attention to Sadie, then, also actually eating the cake as he listened to her speak. His eyes lit up at the sound of water everywhere. "Oh, I would love to go there someday! I'm a strong swimmer, don't worry!" Richard had not been to his wonder, yet. The idea of traveling there unnerved him. What if he got stuck there? What if whatever magic got him there couldn't get him back? What if it glitched out halfway there? What if he were split between locations-- Anyway."I bet it's amazing!"

“And here I was, all worried that one of you was going to run off with the cake to have it all to yourself, when I should have been worried about you getting too involved in the frosting smashing,” said Sadie, although her eyes were still laughing. In a strange way, it was a beautiful thing to see the husbands with their faces all covered in buttercream. “I changed my mind about eating all the cake. Please eat all the cake.” A beautiful thing, yes, but the cake would probably serve better as dessert than as face paint. Although it was a gift, so I’m the end it was up to the others what they used it for. “And yes, you’re welcome to come up to Pendour,” she said, a little more serious but not smiling any less. “You can tag along with me and Encke next time we have a picnic, or just ask if you ever want to go. It’ll bring a lovely getaway when it starts getting colder here.” She always did love having guests.

Simba said as dramatically as Richard could have drew a smattering of cackles from Ignacio's lips that he couldn't quite properly control, and he found himself holding up a finger for a moment as he wheezed and then hit his chest a couple of times to make sure the cake he had bit actually went down. He then, of course, signaled that he was fine-- "Look, sometimes you just have to one-up each other endlessly," he was still snickering as he took the next bite of cake. "I promise I will eat so much cake. I will probably end up not wanting to eat anything else but cake." Although it was inevitable that Richard and Ignacio probably wouldn't get the entire rest of the cake. There was definitely at least one or two Bells waiting in the wings to take at least one piece. Ignacio probably needed to wash his face. "Oh, and I promise, it is lovely up there. Honestly, wouldn't even mind having a whole vacation there," he snickered. "That sounds like an offer, Pendour; you should come find us when it's exceptionally snowy out. We can head up to your place. Especially because," he did a circle above himself in his head, calculating, "pretty sure Enckean winter is just around the corner."

Richard shot a devious glance in Sadie's direction and then back toward Ignacio's. "Nothing but cake? What're you going to do when there's none left?" He definitely needed to wash his face, but the endless smashing of cake in each other's faces pulled a few more laughs from him. But like Ignacio, he decided it was time to just actually eat the cake, and--after taking a bit of frosting off his chin and sucking it off his finger--he resumed doing just that. A whole vacation? Well, if Pendour's place was that nice, maybe his wouldn't be so bad-- He was still afraid it would somehow fail. He was also still afraid of that despite the number of times he had been up to Encke's place by this point-- "Think you've mentioned the Enckean winter thing," to Ignacio, then, "I'd love to have a picnic with you two!" to Sadie. "It sounds really nice and pleasant up there, and I'd love to see some wonders. Seen plenty of his comet by now," with sarcasm and a teasing wink. stari_maga sorry I left this one hanging for so long! Seiana_ZI maybe we could do a fade type of wrap on this one?
