Ujana couldn't help the great, bellowing, snorting laugh that ripped through her. She hadn't expected him to yell like a little girl! The warrior tossed her head back, briefly leaning it against her father as he struggled before lifting a hand to pat his back like a spoiled toddler.

When she raised her eyes once more she caught Isaia's and there was something in her look that said he hadn't escaped her just yet. Still, she didn't linger longer. It was back to the sea with them!

"My worst? Why, you only deserve the best, father!" Ujana let out a truly dramatically evil cackle before giving him much the same treatment she'd given Maritza. A shift, a balance of arm strength before the barrage.

"She caught mom off guard; dad was a fool." He could have used a variety of spells to hold her off, but his heart got in the way! Seeing the way Ujana had paused to look at them...the way she pounded through the sand...

"We don't stand a chance of outrunning her. We need to outsmart her." Granted, Isaia might get away if he left Zadia behind, but she really hoped he wouldn't. As it stood she wasn't taking any chances; the teen held up two fingers in front of her lips and with a murmured spell she gave a broad, sweeping motion to create a protective barrier to surround them.

It was sloppy at best; the mark of an apprentice mage. Still, it might buy them some time...

Admittedly...it was satisfying to see Uquin tossed about like a sack of flour. Some of the expressions that flitted across his face were some she'd never seen before - or rarely, at that, and honestly? She couldn't help laughing. Soaked as she was, her good clothes clinging to her skin, Maritza was absolutely chortling.

Still, when she saw him submerging she moved closer to her lover and helped to brush some of the hair away from his face. "Next time you tell me Isaia is chaotic because of me I'm going to remind you that you have two strikes on your record."

Uquin tried his best not to yell out when he was flung, but the startled gasp was probably just as bad. He came up from the water sputtering, hair mussed and sticking to his face and shoulders. Thankfully, his eye remained firmly in place. He didn't realize Maritza was close until she reached to pet back his hair, eliciting a flare of fondness in him that made the look he gave her go utterly besotted.

"Yes yes, dear." He sighed, reaching to help set her to rights as well, patting her hand. "I'm surprised you aren't already plotting revenge."

Isaia should feel blessed that Zadia was extending her wall of protection to him. And yes, abandoning her to run for the hills seemed like the safest option, but - in this moment he feared what retribution SHE could wrought far more than being flung into the ocean.

"She'll burst through that little thing like it was string." He predicted, gazing at the shimmering magic doubtfully.

As it was, all he could think of was to stoop down and pick up two handfulls of sand, molding the wet sand into something that resembled a snowball, but would likely fall apart the moment they were flung.

"It was nice knowing you, Zadia - I'd suggest taking off your hat before your untimely death."

Such a silly man. Honestly, what sort of look was that? Still, unbeknownst to herself, Maritza's face was utterly 'softened' when looking at him. Every hardened edge seemed to slip away in that moment. She might have remained that way had there not been a 'threat' on the horizon bringing her attention back to the beach.

Seeing Zadia pull up her protective circle was truly...something. It was pathetic, honestly, especially given all the specialized training she'd undergone. Is she even studying at all? "We need to get her focused on a central point. If she goes after one of the children then we can catch her off guard and pull her down." Looking back to the path Ujana had taken in the past, Maritza pointed toward a spot in the sand. "Right there. If you use a spell to dig out a hole once she steps in it then she should fall after tossing Isaia and I can pull her in after that." Would her son be sacrificed? Sure. Was she just ASSUMING he would be next? Also yes.

What Isaia failed to notice was Zadia's true plan. As soon as her big sister burst through she was planning on using that moment of slowed attack to absolutely bail. Isaia could survive the tossing; Zadia wouldn't! Ever since she was a child she'd been terrified of water and this...this wasn't making things any better.

"It's stronger than it looks." Zadia groused. Still, Ujana did that have look in her eye that made the teen gulp. How could something like that and her father be related?! Padma, surely, but Ujana...

Taking a deep breath, Zadia poured more energy into her barrier and took a few good steps behind Isaia. She wasn't so sure about his 'weapon' of choice, but he could make a decent shield. "You've got this; you're tough enough."

A barrier? So, she's a magic user... Honestly, Ujana had known about her younger sister's propensity for herbs and plants, but she hadn't known she was magically gifted as well. Evidently, though, Isaia was not but at least he had the spunk needed to defend himself.

Rolling her shoulders, Ujana cracked her neck and settled into her running stance once more. With as small as they were at this age it wouldn't be hard to grab them both. After all, she was much more accustomed to slinging around half-alkidike kids so pure blooded earthlings were nothing.

The leafling charged across the sand toward the barrier, head down and prepared to barrel through it-

-Instead, Ujana slammed into it and struggled against it.

Uquin was tempted to sit out of it. If the father was to suffer the indignity of being flung in the water, then so should they. And if it was Isaia alone, maybe he would sit back and enjoy the show. But Zadia... well. He had always been a bit - overprotective of his daughters, even Ujana - but in this case Zadia was the younger, and the one who would react worst to being flung in the water. So he nodded, zeroing in on the point that Maritza had indicated.

"I suppose it is worth a try." He mused, wading closer to the shore, ready to throw the spell the moment the time was right.

"Of course I've got th-- wait." Isaia turned to Zadia, squinting at her accusingly as he finally realized she was HIDING behind him. What was it she had planned?

Any shouts of 'betrayal!' fell to the wayside, however, as Ujana began to run - only to smash into the glittering shield. Isaia jumped, despite himself, mouth dropping open. "It really held!" Of course - any moment it would drop, and Ujana would come through. "Uhh- how about a deal, big sis? Spare us the dunking and I'll uh- do anything you want! What about that, huh?"

Zadia gave her brother an awkward little smile and with a brief shrug of her shoulders the teen took a step back. "I'll pay you back; promise." When she moved the barrier came with her; tightening around it's user but disappearing around Isaia entirely.

Of course her barrier held! It just....looked flimsy. In truth Zadia knew it wouldn't last much longer and tightening it around herself was the only way to keep it up, especially under Ujana's assault. The woman needed a target and it wasn't going to be her!

Ujana let out a low whistle. "Oooo, betrayal~" Was that actual fear in Zadia's eyes? That...actually made her feel fairly guilty. She just wanted to have fun, not traumatize the kid, but maybe if she saw how much Isaia ended up liking it, despite his protests, she would come around!

"The only thing I want, little brother, is to see how far you'll fly!" With a great, booming laugh she swept in and hefted the boy over her shoulder. She didn't dare stick around for long; he was much more active than his parents and would slip out if she wasn't careful!

Maritza rolled her shoulder and popped the vertebrae in her neck. Watching as Uquin's daughter went for her son was...well, it would have been more concerning if he hadn't been a brat recently so under normal circumstances she would have been all for it. However, being flung into the water herself had brought out Maritza's spite.

"Get ready, she's coming." The lightning woman ducked to the side, hunkering as far down into the water as she could while Ujana got into place.

No way! Was she really-- "You little sh--" He hissed, only to shriek, he hurled his useless handfuls of sand at his sister as she dived at him, sweeping him up over her shoulder like it was nothing. He began to wriggle and writhe in earnest, and while her grip was fierce he could tell that she wasn't holding tight enough to bruise or hurt him.

He might actually be able to get out - even if it was only to fall into the water at her feet, but that seemed better than to be hurled into the sea.

Deep down, there was a concern that when he pulled this prank, like Maritza suggested, he might risk spraining or breaking his daughter's ankle. But that concern was overrun by a rare flash of childish determination, the sort of impulse that only Maritza seemed capable of pulling out of the normally serious man.

"Sorry, Ujana." He murmured with a grim expression, reaching out with his magic to do as Maritza had bid. Just as predicted, the sand shifted - but not until it was already too late to 'save' Isaia.
