Welcome back! Luminarium is officially back! Aside from a few tribe restructures and new births the tribe has not changed much. The season is Fall and the tribe is preparing for the colder weather! Libitana has begun eyeballing members within the tribe and has publicly stated that soon she'll pick a Beta, although no hints have been dropped as to who that might be.

User Image It was evening for the Luminarium and Libitana was far from done with her tribe duties for the day. She had just returned from her last meeting with one of her patients for the day and found herself checking in on her mate briefly before back on her feet, circling the tribe grounds as she checked in on her tribe members. Things had been quiet the last few months, although some pairs had reproduced and brought home new members (most notably green ones, she realized), but otherwise the tribe had begun preparing for the colder months with little between. She wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing -- being busy felt more natural to her, but the lack of activity meant she had a moment to tend to her more personal interests, too.

Still, something nagged at the back of her brain ever since her last meeting with the Yasashii Elder; she could almost sense something was going to occur sooner or later. Hyperion had begun to stir faintly, visiting her every few weeks with a curious glint in their eye. Something was up, and Libitana found herself eying the tribe with a critical gaze. Her attention had also landed on the popular chatter as of late -- a Beta; someone to help her guide her tribe safely. She had a few names on her tongue for nomination, but Libitana wasn't one to act without much thought. Especially not when her gut told her she had to make the right choice, or else.

    "Mother."

The familiar sound of Nura's voice snapped Libitana from her pondering, head canting towards her smaller daughter. Nura stared up at her, lantern between their paws as they frowned faintly.

    "Yes, Nura?"
"I've run out of necessary medicines, and the Shamans have not gotten back to me about when they'll restock the ingredients needed."

Ah, yes -- with Nura switching into the Psychiatrist rank and being the only one for the tribe she had become tense around the edges. Libitana sympathized -- the weight of one rank fell solely on her daughter with little room for error. It had to be stressful.

"I'll give them a visit as I circle." Nura nodded sharply, immediately turning and padding off. Libitana found herself swallowing a sigh, tail flicking with a snap behind her as she turned to her wandering. Sometime, soon, she'd need to find time to spend with her children, especially the more rigid and withdrawn Nura.

First, however, she had work to tend to.

“She’s pretty cute.”

“Mhmm... Wait, wh- Kasumi.

Voice muffled by a few recently killed ducks held between his teeth, Takara all but whipped his head around to look at his sister, one of his paws lightly knocking into the lantern he had set down just a moment ago. The two had just returned to the tribe after a few hours of hunting together, the siblings passing by Nura as she made her way off to her next destination. Takara, with just the slightest hint of a crush (no, he would not admit this), had allowed himself to momentarily follow the vixen with his eyes, and Kasumi had quickly noticed. She laughed mischievously at her brother and smirked, the other flashing her an aggravated look and giving a brief growl - a warning, clear as day between siblings, to not. say. another. word.

“Oh, please. It’s hard to take you seriously when you look like you’re trying to strangle those innocent little ducks.” Kasumi gave a fond roll of her eyes as her brother let out another muffled growl, tapping him lightly on the nose before motioning for him to hand over his lantern. Might as well help lighten the load. “Don’t worry, your scandalous little secret is safe with me.” A few silent seconds passed between the two, Kasumi smiling politely and Takara giving her a blank stare, unimpressed and certainly not fooled by his sister’s behavior. “Y’know, for now. Let me have my fun, Taka!”

“Whatever. C’mon, let’s go. Y' little s**t...” It was Takara who rolled his eyes this time, carefully sliding his lantern over to her with a swipe of his paw before they continued on their way. It was nice most days, having a sibling at your side to help out with daily tasks.

Today was not one of those days.

“Ah, geeze...” Chop gave a wide yawn, allowing himself to stretch his legs out one-by-one within the hut that he and Tanis had claimed for their little family. Being one of Luminarium’s scouts, he had elected to spend the night patrolling and was paying for it now in the form of lingering drowsiness and a late wake-up. Sleeping in like this felt weird. He wasn’t in a rush to get up or anything today, having fulfilled his duties last night, but still, he was a fox that liked to rise with the sun and enjoy the early morning hours. He had always been like that, ever since he was a kit, but sometimes you had to make adjustments, especially when you lived with a tribe and had a job to do. Patrols happened, regardless of the time of day or your preferred schedule. Chop slowly rose from his sleeping spot, a few wooden planks within the hut giving familiar, quiet creaks as he got up. He glanced around the room for his mate, or possibly one of their kids, ready to begin his day.

Rune
Rune frowned, looking at their supplies again. Some reason their stock was low again, which means she couldn’t give out medicine to the people who kept coming by and asking for it. Some of the problem was out of her hands as they had to wait for the shipment from yasashii to come in, but others well maybe she could stalk a gatherer next time they went out and help gather up the needed materials herself. Frustration didn’t really help any one, especially rune who’s shadows became more agitated and attack prone the worse off she was feeling. She just needed to take a step out for a moment and take a breather. Mental health breaks were important too.

Of course non busy time gave her time to think about her other problem. She has been hoping that maybe she could pray to the modeity of fertility…. But she hadn’t been blessed with kids yet. She of course wanted them, but obviously fate decided it wasn’t yet the time. She wondered how veha or any of her other siblings where doing.

User Image Life had been strange for Jack since the news of his ex's recent litter. He was over her, he swore, but it was still strange in a way he couldn't pinpoint. Perhaps it was due to Rune's increased interest in children of her own, or maybe he hadn't fully imagined that his ex might even want more kids -- whatever it was it left him feeling strange. He felt old, certainly, and perhaps that was where some of the strangeness laid. Old, worn, and exhausted from what life had thrown at him.

His mate had been quietly disappointed as the months and years persisted without a BCR between the two of them. Jack felt it, too. He loved Rune, and he wanted her to have what she wanted. No, not just that; he wanted a family of their own together. Rune had always been accepting of his children, but he wanted BCRs with her. Little blue and black kits of their own. He was frustrated too, often wondering if it was the price he paid for a life that wasn't always the morally best.

Eventually, hopefully, they'd welcome kits of their own soon.

Jack found himself circling Rune's workplace and locating her. He had meant to speak to Libitana, but somehow his lovely mate had subconsciously redirected his path. He cleared his throat and raised his lantern as he approached, brushing against her side once close enough.

"What are you up to?" He murmured, dropping his lantern at his feet and settling.

Oh Hi Jack!” Rune greeted as her mate showed up. She was just about to go find himself as spending time around loved ones was always a good break. It was nice to see him happier than when they first met. Back then she had been really worried about him but now they had a tribe. She had better control over her mutation, and Jack had even found his brother. Of course… things were in a weird situation as sayre was completely moving on. She rubbed her cheek against his in greeting before turning back to her work station.l at the mention of what she was doing.
Nura wanted to know where her medication was for her patients. We’re out of the particular Ingredient needed again and I was trying to figure out why. Just regular run of the mill shaman duties. I was actually just about to take a break fo keep from getting too frustrated and come find you. How has your day been.” she asked.

Jack frowned, head canting to the side as he considered how he could help her. Perhaps he could talk to Libitana later and offer himself where it was needed. He shrugged lightly at her question, rumbling low in his throat in thought.

"Better now that you're here." Everything was better when his mate was around. He liked his tribe, of course -- liked helping those who had hit their lows, like him. But, he also missed the quality time he used to have with his partner. The long spans of seconds, minutes, and hours where it was just him and her. Sometime, and soon, he'd have to see about taking her out on vacation.

Maybe not during a medicine shortage, though.

"Anything I can do to help?"

User Image Lynix was perhaps in one of the foulest moods, stuck in a perpetual rut of anger, listlessness, and disbelief. He had joined Luminarium for Demios, fog be damned or not. He hadn't cared that the fog accepted him so readily; hadn't cared that it was a "sign" he belonged. He didn't believe in that s**t, honestly. He liked helping the tribe about, sure, and he enjoyed the work he did, but without Deimos it had begun to feel like busywork.

Without Deimos it had all begun to feel pointless.

The thing was, Lynix hadn't come this far to regress into old behaviors. He had promised to do the best he could for himself, Deimos, and the tribe, and somewhere along the line he intended to keep that promise. There had to be something to living that wasn't just about Deimos -- something he could reclaim for his own. He just- it- ugh! He had been just fine before Deimos in his continuous routine, even if he was alone. Maybe that was better than this, whatever this was. Whatever this awful sinking and all-consuming blackness was.

    Deities, he missed Deimos.
    Deities, he hated Deimos.

Lynix wandered into the main area of the tribe, sidestepping busy workers and smaller foxes. He needed to talk to someone. Anyone. He just... didn't know who. But he had an idea who might.

"Hey," he grumbled, stopping before Pierre. "I- I think I need help. Therapy. Do you... know where I go to figure that out?" Blunt, but when you were part of a tribe focused on mental health things tended to get a bit so.

User Image Xiu Mei eyed her hunting partner, Lynix, complete with a tiny approving smile and nod as she drifted by. Good. When you spent hours with someone on the regular stalking prey you often got into deeper conversations, and Lynix's despair over losing their lifemate had become a faint focus between the two. Oh, Lynix wasn't direct enough about his feelings to tell her much, but what she managed to claw out of his mouth was horrifying enough. He was hurting, and Xiu Mei had wished desperately to see that burden lifted from his shoulders soon. It also had crash-landed her own reality before her feet, taking form in the shape of Fer'n and their neverending courting.

For the longest time, Xiu Mei hadn't really thought much about it, honestly. Dating was fine for her! She hadn't really considered the commitment she had given to Fer'n, and vice versa, but she also hadn't necessarily made clear her own intentions. If Xiu Mei was being candid, she hadn't really thought about how Fer'n had become her present and future. It had crept slowly, spreading like vines over the years until she realized, with a painful tug, how much it'd hurt if Fer'n just left her life.

She had so many unsaid words she had never even thought to utter to Fer'n, and clarity came to her with a vicious fanged bite. It was a crime! She had to rectify it, and Xiu Mei sought to do so. Maybe not right that second, as she still was in the midst of planning, but it would start with finding Fer'n, at least.

"Fer'nnnnnn~" Xiu Mei had found herself before one of the usual hiding spots of Fer'n's, tail flicking idly behind her as she peeked in. "Are you here~?"

User Image Esmee clutched a large kit between her teeth, ignoring its cries and protests as it squirmed and snapped at her cheeks.

"I can walk!" He wailed, a sound of mortification clinging to his tone. Esmee grunted softly in dismissal, her tail holding her lantern high as she stepped through the general meanderings of her tribe-mates, beelining for her Elder. Libitana only had a moment to direct her attention to the glowing vixen, barely registering the twisting red, black, and yellow kit in her mouth before Esmee unceremoniously dropped him at Libitana's feet, a flushed smile on her face.

"I found someone in the fog~!" She proudly announced. Her first find! Her tail slide the lantern down and off and she collected it by her paws, beaming up at her Elder and then the kit, who had begun to fix his fur.

"He was lost, but Hyperion must have blessed him since he was almost at the village edge. What a brave little kit you are, aren't you?" She cooed and leaned down to nuzzle the kit, who in turn gently pushed her face away.

"I wasn't lost," he firmly answered, head shaking. "I wanted to be here. This is Luminarium, right?"

"It is," Libitana cut through, pausing the inhale Esmee had taken to begin whatever long-winded rant she was about to fall into. She loved Esmee, dearly, but the vixen had a habit of talking anyone's ear off, and the kit looked just about exhausted of it. "But, may I ask; where are your parents?"

"I'dunno. I'm a Perma. We tend to get "lost" over time." The kit's stomach grumbled loudly, finishing his sentence with a low growl. Esmee giggled and Libitana shook her head, gently nodding towards Esmee.

"Find a Carer, will you? Perma or not, our new guest's body is still small and I'd like to get someone to check-in and at least set up a temporary shelter for them. Meanwhile, I'll take them to my hut to discuss why they're here."

Esmee bounced upright and enthusiastically nodded, nudging the large kit with a wide grin. "See? Aren't you glad I found you?" She redirected her attention to Libitana, picking her lantern up and sliding it back onto her tail, squeezing the fluff at the end. "I'll be back!"

And off she ran in search of a Carer.

"You know he likes you." Lynwood slid up to Nura's side without a sound, aside from his own voice. Nura debated the idea of not answering him, irritation twisting through her tail and snapping at the tip as she smacked him lightly in warning, although she doubted it'd deter him much. Nothing really did.

"Just because you ignore it doesn't mean it isn't true," he persisted, bumping her shoulder.

"You see too much into things," she hissed irritably. Her brother knew exactly how to get under her skin. She knew who he was talking about: Takara. It was often a subject on Lynwood's mind and lips, as if he delighted in teasing his sister with the fact she was most definitely not on anyone's mind. Takara wasn't even someone she had ever interacted with, for that matter. He hadn't shown interest in her in the slightest, but her brother argued otherwise.

"You really don't see him looking at you all the time? Wow. What a poor guy, that actually is pretty hurtful." He cackled as she bumped harder into his shoulder, dipping his head to nuzzle her cheek.

"Okay, okay! I gotta get back to work, but, seriously, next time you see him just take a second to glance his way, yeah? It's painfully obvious."

The siblings broke from one another's path, returning to their final duties for the evening. Nura almost wondered if her brother had good intentions, but...

Well, siblings also had a habit of being a pain in the a**.

User Image Tidus dropped his most recent kill into the current pile for the day, both relieved to finally have the hare out of his mouth and eager to check in on his youngest children. He still couldn't believe they had two more daughters so suddenly. The previous litter he had actively and vocally wished for and he assumed it was Hyperion who gifted him the resulting BCRs, but Tine and Esmee had been entirely a welcomed surprise. They were still adjusting to the routine of tribe life and Tidus found himself fretting between his duties, worried they'd need guidance or direction. Neither daughter struggled, but Tidus had a way of worrying, as most parents did.

Esmee's glow caught his eye just in time for him to confirm she was alright. Thriving, even! He had no clue where Tine had wandered to but he'd find her soon enough. The hunter stretched his jaw and neck, shaking off the tension of a long day hunting and channeling that into a quick trot towards the nearest source of fresh water.

Rune smiled at his answer. She was glad she could add some happiness in his day. Her mother always talked about you always wanted your partner to add a sparkle to your day, and obviously make you feel loved. She knew Jack definitely did that for her.

Well keep me company on a walk?” Rune spoke up… “and then I think i’m going to go check on the other couple of sites where supplies are kept. See if they have anything suspicious I missed here.” Reluctantly her shadows curled back closer to her body and not in the flare up they had started before jack had arrived.

User ImageFer'n was indeed in that hiding spot. She had been working on slowly wrapping vines around themselves to weave a mat of sorts. It was just busy work she would use use to sweep out bugs later and then it gave her time to think. She was reminiscing about the past. She had lived with the deava Ner’f who she did miss a bit but she wouldn’t give up her time with Xiu Mei for the world. She giggled and got excited just thinking about Xiu Mei. The vines found themselves tapped on the ground a few times while Fer’n resisted the urge to roll around excited looking forward to Xiu Mei coming back. Then she herd the most amazing noise it was Mei calling out for her. “I”m here!” She moved to see Xiu Mei curious if there was something going on.

The siblings continued on, making their way towards the center of the village to drop off a few of their latest catches. As the two made their way past Tidus, Takara gave a brief but respectful nod to his fellow hunter before continuing on towards the tribe’s food pile. It would be impolite to talk with a full mouth, after all. Kasumi smiled around the lantern handles held in her mouth, giving a few wags of her tail in a silent, friendly greeting. She didn’t know Tidus particularly well, but he was a member of Luminarium, and that was more than enough reason for her to be friendly.

Takara set their kills down carefully onto the pile, pleased with their work - the tribe would have plenty to eat, if they kept things up. He made to turn and leave as his sister approached, then paused, casting a look back at the slain ducks.

As if reading his thoughts, Kasumi hummed before setting their lanterns down. “Dad and Daddy might be hungry? Don’t know if they’ve had anything to eat today, now that I think about it...”

Her brother smirked, raising a brow. “Y'know, I was thinkin’ the same thing.”

“Oh? Great then!” Looking at the food pile in thought, she nodded. “Grab one or two. If it turns out they’re not hungry then... Well, then I guess we’ll have ourselves a late lunch! C'mon, I'll carry our lanterns again.” With a plan set in motion, Kasumi suddenly grinned toothily, quickly snatching the lanterns again and racing off in the direction of their family hut.

A race. A challenge.

“Seriously?! You’re a cheater and you know it, Kasumi! Ugh, damn it...” With a heavy sigh emphasizing his disapproval, Takara secured two of the ducks before barreling after his sister. Catching up to her was easy enough, his skills as a hunter allowing him to meet her pace with little effort. Chasing down prey was his job. Amused now that he had the upper hand, Takara egged his sister on, letting a sharp growl loose as he made his way past Kasumi and towards their destination.
