"I hope so...that would be nice. I wonder if the rumors are even true. Though, there were quite a few people talking about it so I would think there'd be some truth to the rumor." As Kasumi got closer to the entrance she started walking slower and more carefully to the point that she was almost tip-toeing to peer inside. "Do you see anything?..." Kas asked quietly as she tried looking around before going in further.

"Nothing besides that giant creature to the right there." Teased Quiana as she peered in around Kasumi. Of course it was just an old log that had been washed up into the cove but she couldn't resist the urge to startle the other girl. "Just kidding." She finally admitted after a second before pursing her lips thoughtfully. "What if some Sister started the rumor because they were hiding things in here?" There was only one way to find out, right?

"EEE." Her squeel was muffled by her hand as she clamped it over her mouth only to see that Quiana was just pranking her. "Not nice..." She mumbled. She took a few more steps in and peeked into the little cove. "But would enough of them really believe that to leave this place alone?" Its not like all of their sisters and cousins were as hesitant as she was. Surely it would take more to scare everyone else away right?....right? She'd never actually seen a Nanu'ila so she wasn't really sure if they needed to be scared or not. What if they weren't as bad she was told?

"Pffft." Quiana couldn't help the laugh that escaped her. That was just too good! The Elidae winked towards Kasumi in response to her comment before taking a couple of more steps forward as well into the cove. It was slightly darker than the other more open areas of coves spread throughout the islands with purple and pink vines that hung right above the water from the cliffs, their closeness to one another forming almost a crack rather than a wide passage in some points of the walk. "Maybe? I mean some of the Sisters are more cautious than anything but there are those that would come here just to try to hunt down a prize." She admitted with a thoughtful nod before faint rustling caught her attention. "What was that?" Quiana's antennae flicked as her gaze snapped towards the left side of the cove but she didn't see anything. Perhaps it was just some wind rustling the brush growing along where the sandy ground touched the water.

Kasumi pouted a little at Quiana when she laughed but had to admit it had been pretty funny how easily she had been scared. "Perhaps you're right. They do like to train near here after all so if there was something dangerous wouldn't they try to clear it out? I guess that makes more sense to me than them doing nothing and just leaving it here to maybe hurt someone..." At the rustling, she didn't squeal again but it definitely startled her. She jumped slightly and moved closer to Quiana. "M-maybe we should get backup....just in case?"

"Nah." Quiana smirked as she glanced around. Normally she would have opted to call in backup but the Elidae knew that would probably only cause more trouble down the road for her. Not only would the mentors chastise her for missing training but her grandmother would get after her for going somewhere dangerous like this. Not that she still believed it was dangerous. "So the plan is this..." She began thoughtfully before crouching down and grabbing a few rocks. "If we throw these in the opposite direction then surely it will go after the noise while we dart ahead." Her voice had dropped to the softest of whispers as she scanned the area. Even if it was just some brush she would feel more confident going forward by starting some small mammals rather than risking the wrath of a giant horned bird.

Kasumi nodded and listened intently as Quiana outlined their plan. It sounded like a good one, one that would work for most predators right? The old reliable plan of distract and dash. She started grabbing a few of her own rocks together as she mentally prepared herself to maybe face the wrath of a big mean bird. "Okay..." She whispered back. "So we throw those that," She pointed to their right, "Way and then run towards the other opening over there?" She pointed to the left where the faint light was coming out. Kasu wanted to make sure she had the right plan before they executed it.

Quiana nodded. "Exactly!" She whispered with a grin. At least the other Elidae seemed to catch on quickly. Some of the others probably would have tried charging directly towards the creature instead of trying to outsmart it like this. "Just one second..." She held up a hand, her antennae twitching as she tried to sense anything in the darkness with them. Oh there definitely seemed to be some movement. Quiana sucked in her breath thoughtfully. "It definitely would be better to confuse it with rocks rather than risk it waking up and noticing us first, right?" She actually seemed on the fence about it as she glanced towards Kasumi for her input. Surely tossing the rocks was the correct call, right? Even if it was sleeping then the rocks would just disorient it while they ran for the actual tide pools. The big birds were usually territorial but not so aggressive as to chase someone all the way out of their home area. Quiana just hoped the tidepools weren't considered the creature's turf as well.

"Okay, got it!" Kasumi knew the plan and would make sure she followed it to a T. At least until Quiana started asking more questions. "Thats a good point...I didn't consider if it might be sleeping..." Kas moved the rocks around in her hand as she thought. What if it was sleeping, would it be mad at them for waking it up even more than being in it's area? Or would the rocks confuse it? It was a question that she didn't know the answer to. All the knowledge she had on these things were what she had heard from the sisters when talking about the rumor. Before then, she didn't even know it existed! "I'm not sure..." The young girl waffled at making the decision, should they just stick to the plan or maybe try to sneak first? Was there actually anything there? There were too many options.

"Then we have to take the fifty-fifty." Quiana replied as she pursed her lips and pondered their options. "I don't think simply sneaking is a good idea because there's the chance that we slip and wake it up." The Elidae glanced about, her worry obvious as she studied the more shadowed areas of the narrow cove. One little slip on a wet stone and then they would basically be announcing their presence to the whole area with a splash. "So unless you want to risk running through water and making more noises I would suggest we toss some stones and pray that we make it through. Maybe it's a super heavy sleeper as is and the stones won't even bother it." Now that would be truly lucky for them. She finally decided with a nod. She would give the other Elidae a chance to change her mind but she was fairly determined to use surprise to their advantage.

Whew, it seemed that Quiana had decided on a plan of action and that worked for Kasumi just fine. Weighing the odds and chances on that were the cases where the risk was always too much to her and made her struggle with a decision. "If you think that's the right plan then I trust you." Perhaps the young one was a little too trusting but until she had reason to not be, Kasu didn't see any reason not to trust Quiana. "Okay what's the signal? Do you want to count down or something?" That seemed like the logical choice to her but maybe Quiana had a better way to do things.

If they both weren't in the middle of the cove then perhaps Quiana would have thought to use the other girl's faith to her advantage but for once she was actually being considerate for both of them rather than just herself. "I think so." She finally admitted with a nod, her confidence rising as she continued contemplating the situation. If sneaking around worked so well then others wouldn't always have stories about how they messed up. At least that was her logic in the moment as she clutched a stone in both hands. "We can count to three and then toss the rocks. As soon as that rock flies from your hand we run towards the exit, okay?" She advised as she waited for Kasumi to agree so that the countdown could truly begin.

Okay...okay. They could do this. They just had to throw the rocks and then run as fast as they could to the other side. No big deal right? It wasn't as if she were a klutz, she had fairly good balance. She might not have the best luck but it wasn't terrible either. All they had to do was get to the other side, she reminded herself again. Surely they could do that at the very least. Kasumi nodded her head and set her face in a determined look. "Okay sounds like a plan." She nodded her head one more time before getting herself ready to throw the rock and run. "One?" She started, almost in a questioning tone.

"Two." Quiana took her sweet time to survey the area one final time before giving a nod and muttering. "Three!" The word came out more like a hiss of air as the rocks flew from her hands and towards the northern area of the cove where she hoped the rustling was. Maybe if they were lucky she even whacked the creature on the noggin so it wasn't able to chase them! Either way she heard the rocks bounce and splash into the water which was their cue to run like lightning across the cove. Quiana's footsteps felt almost too heavy as she willed her body forward, her mind already full of images of whatever type of large creature would be chasing them. Eventually something seemed to snag on her toe and she felt herself stumble before a loud rustling noise made her whole body tense. Oh spirits! Had they truly just angered something by running away? "Keep going Kasumi!" She found herself yelling, the light from the end of the cove just in sight.

Kasumi felt so nervous as Quiana continued the countdown. Would they be okay? Would there really be a Nanu'ila here? Her heart rate increased as her muscles tensed. As soon as the other girl's count reached three, she chunked her rock in the agreed upon direction and then took off right after Quiana. She felt like she was running so fast yet not getting anywhere at the same time. Would she ever get to the other side? It was at that point that she saw Quiana start to fall towards the ground. She must have tripped on something! Reaching for her new friend, she tried to grab her before she hit the ground, her hands grabbing at the other elidae's arms while also making her slip towards the ground as well. Quiana told her to keep going but there was no way she'd leave a sister behind! She scrambled across the slightly wet ground as she heard noises behind her. "We can make it Quiana just keep moving!" She tried pulling the other girl alongside her as she scrambled towards the other opening.
