Painted Moose
“Hey!” Eliazer barely saw the patrolman step into the alleyway before they were taking off. At best they could have played it off like the two of them had just gotten in a scuffle, but with the burns fresh on Aleksi’s hands and the fire in the building not far away they likely wouldn’t have gotten away so easily....
Instead, he knocked over a few more crates on their way, jumping over one completely just to throw her off balance. The amount of times they were having to run away from authority figures just kept rising, but honestly neither one of them could afford to be ‘good boys’ right now.

At least they had plenty of experience in this department. Despite everything a small smile crossed Aleksi's lips at the exhilarating thrill of running away from a patrolman yet again. If anything at least he hoped they hadn't gotten a good glimpse of his features, those ears always were a hassle when trying to be incognito, but as long as they kept running and tossing crates behind them then surely everything would be okay. Eventually he turned a few hard corners until they were slipping under a fence that led into a small park full of trees and bushes for the pair to hide around.
{"Surely the officer will be done with us soon."} He managed with a slight wince as he forced his fingers to move along with his words. Definitely will need that ointment soon enough. Aleksi shook his head as he crouched down in the hedges, bits of twigs and grass already decorating his hair and clothing. "{Come over for dinner tonight with your mother later? I can talk to my father before then since he's home now."}

Painted Moose
{“Shut up for once in your life.”} Just watching Alek try to sign with those jerky, painful movements was enough to make Eliazer wince. The run had been a good enough burst of adrenaline to free the jitters from his blood, but it only served to add exhaustion to the teenager's limbs. He practically sank down onto the ground behind a bush, only stopping himself from fully stretching out because he didn’t want to be caught.
His clothes would have grass stains, the tear in his sleeve from the fence would need to be mended, and all in all the teen looked a mess. He could have just stayed there all night if he didn’t think his mother wouldn’t come after him. {“I’ll bring her. She’ll be looking for a distraction.”} Normally she may have declined the offer because there was so much to do at home, but tonight….Tonight he had a feeling she wouldn’t want to deal with it anymore than he did.

Aleksi pursed his lips in protest. If there was something that was extremely difficult for the hybrid it was shutting up. Still, he found himself sinking to the ground to relax by Eliazer and gave a nod instead of saying anything else. At least they could have dinner together and then surely his father would be able to figure something out with him. A soft sigh escaped him as he settled against a hedge. Now all that was left was to wait for the patrol to pass through so that they could sneak the rest of the way home.

For a moment Eliazer stilled as he heard the patrolmen pass. She called out for them, stomped around the other side of the fence for a bit and eventually passed. Whatever SHE'D BEEN HOPING TO FIND SHE DIDN'T. FOR HIS PART ELIAZER WAS GLAD. hE DIDN'T HAVE IT IN HIM TO FIGHT FOR EXCUSES OR MAKE UP SOME SORT OF FANCIFUL STORY. HE WAS JUST...BEYOND EXHAUSTED. MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, SPIRITUALLY...
AT A CERTAIN POINT HE WAS JUST READY TO GIVE UP. A PART OF HIM ALMOST WANTED TO CANCEL ON THEIR DINNER PLANS BUT HE KNEW THAT WOULD ONLY WORRY ALEK MORE. HE WOULD GO, DO HIS BEST TO BE SOCIAL AND THEN CRASH. MAYBE IF HE COULD GET SOME DECENT SLEEP HE COULD FORGET THIS WHOLE EVENING HAD EVER HAPPENED AND MOVE ON WITH LIFE.
