His confidence at the question reassured the young girl, mostly because she assumed he would have reacted or tried to overly reassure her. Instead, he brushed it off as not a big deal, as it wasn't, and that made her feel better.
"Well I wouldn't mind if we took our time...this is quite the experience..." She said finally, lifting her hand to cover her eyes so she could look out to the shimmering sea.

"We'll see if you're still so in love after a few weeks at sea..." He said with a chuckle, "If so, we can get you a nice hat and recruit you to the team. Always love another sailor."
She'd grow big and muscular, which would help both with the work and the defense of the ship. Really, it wasn't much of a joke and Daspien had a feeling he'd get along well with her if she were on the crew.

She paused a moment and her heart skipped a beat at the offer. It was strange, honest and seemed to be unbiased. Smiling big at her new friend, she let out a laugh.
"As much as I'd love to be free like that, I'm more of a land person...need to be near my roots and all that. But maybe I'll see you on every part of my trip across the sea?"

He laughed to hide his disappointment, but it wasn't really much considering he only just met her. Sure, a new friend would be nice, but it wasn't going to break him to have her move on once they reached the next shore.
"Of course! If anything, we'll probably ship you back to Kahikina whenever you make it back this way..."

Nayyara was happy she got to meet someone new and so welcoming this early on in her journey. Sure, she knew she'd face a lot of hardships, practically everyone warned her about it in an effort to keep her home. But she was determined to make this journey and was happy her mother said yes to being her sponsor and chaperone.
Speaking of which, it was probably time to make sure her mother knew she actually made it on the ship.
"It was so nice to meet you...oh gosh, I forgot. My name is Nayyara. I look forward to seeing you around the ship during this trip. But for now, I've gotta get settled away before my mother thinks I left her on the ship alone." With a wink and a smile, she turned and rushed off, happy with how things were turning up and hopeful for the future of this journey.

"DASPIEN, YOU SLACKER. GET OVER HERE AND GET TO WORK!"
"--Daspien..." He said with a laugh, nodding as she ran off and turning to get back to work. It was nice to have someone his age on the ship who was easy to talk to. He'd have to find her again over dinner and talk about their experiences to help pass the time.
