Perhaps it was karma. Almost as soon as he'd offered his wingmate such silver praise, the dragon snatched a piece of firestone from His, and immediately crunched down hard on his tongue. It was enough to have the blue lurch in surprise, and even R'min cursed in pain.
What rotten uck! The blue bemoaned, eyes red-orange with irritation and distraction. The pain was incredible, and R'min could taste the ichor through his link.
Focusing was going to be difficult.

Perhaps it was the distraction from his bitten tongue; perhaps it was simply bad luck. One moment they were weaving down to catch a patch of Thread, when suddenly, they were engulfed in a stream of scorching hot fire. Valiantly, the blue dragon tried to protect His--but there was little to be done amid the pain.
The pain was incredible.
R'min could barely think of coordinates but Antereth threw them Between. The frigid cold of Between offered some form of comfort--but also pain. Antereth? Antereth!? R'min couldn't feel the dragon physically--but the link between them was weak. Very weak. It was only when they reappeared, that R'min realized just how badly Antereth was.
They did not fly--but fell, like a stone would sink in the ocean. The blue was completely unconscious, and all R'min could do was lean dangerously forward; some of his leather straps had been charred right through. He was still attached, but not as securely as one should be.
Hang on, Antereth. Stay with me, please! He begged, clinging to the blue's mental connection. He wouldn't lose him. Couldn't lose him. All he could do as hope one of the queen's would catch them--and that the healers might save them both.

15. Browns and bronzes, you're struggling just a bit more getting around all the blowing clumps and individual strands. Still, it's good practice! [+1 Agility]
"Thank you!" Ar'ad called, giving a wave as Turoth veered back into formation now that his mind was clear from the pain. His tongue still throbbed but thanks to the encouraging words he felt like he could fight on. They continued to flame down the Thread they came across, finding it a bit tough to weave and dive and dip as much as was needed, but for a maxed out bronze Ar'ad felt like Turoth was doing a bang up job.

16. The wind is fierce and fighting you. Browns and Bronzes can feel the strain, but it's nothing they can't seem to handle. [+3 Stamina]
After chasing down all the wayward Thread Turoth had to fight against the wind, but thanks to his vast size and strength he didn't waver much. He hoped the smaller dragons were fairing well behind him, perhaps flying in his slipstream so he could break up the brutal pounding from the air.

2. As you're flaming down some Thread, a gust of wind suddenly pushes the remaining cloud back at you and your dragon. You've no choice but to blink Between to avoid it, and appear higher up, missing the clump. The rest of the thread falls down towards the lower altitude. [+1 Between Accuracy]
Searing some Thread from the sky, Ar'ad gave a soft 'oh no' as the cloud of silvery danger hung heavy before them. Together the team joined their thoughts and pictured a safe place - hopefully, at least - to jump to. They blinked Between just as the Thread would have covered them, appearing above it moments later. Hopefully the lower altitude wings would be able to handle it.
43-60. Well, things seem to be okay! You're doing your job, as you should. Nothing's going wrong right now... but nothing seems to be going overly right, either. Just another day fighting Threadfall.

61-90 An absolute success! The catch couldn't go better than planned! Even if the dragon is larger than you, your practice during drills all come together. You know the proper way to fly with such precious cargo, and immediately go back to the Weyr to deliver them safetly into the Healer's care.
While awaiting the next fallen clump to get in range to sear, Khamaith had kept her gaze on the skies above for any possible dragons that might have a need for a catch. And, sadly, it proved she wouldn't be waiting long -- as the form of Antereth is barely out of between before the blue began to plummet line a stone.
She gives Ezyzu a moment to grab ahold of the straps before she's climbing, quick snaps of her wings to position herself just right beneath the unconscious blue. But practice had paid off, for the catch is easy and seamless -- and not even a claw out of place.
Easy now, I have you. Her call is gentle -- to both unconscious dragon and rider, as Ezyzu gives her the coordinates back to Western Weyr -- and the pair would be in the best suited hands.

You're so focused on flaming Thread that you miss a clump of thread blows up on the wind -- beneath you! If a green, or blue, you manage to jump Between ahead of it. Thankfully, your smaller size means you're able to avoid getting harmed! [+1 Between Accuracy]
The wind was particularly nasty, and Nonami is reminded all too much that thread can get them from any side -- not just from above. They're quick to nudge the coordinates, spotting the clump of thread rising to almost tangle in their dragon's claws -- but Negoncath is much too quick, and is safely betweening herself away to a safer distance.

Flaming down Thread, you find yourself getting blown right into the cloud of ash! It stings and burns, but you're pretty sure no Thread was alive in the cloud. [If a green, or blue take Moderate Damage -5HP but gain +2 Pain Resistance.
Negoncath let out a whining hiss of a noise, displeased as they're blown right back into a cloud of hot ash. Her rider is quick to have them nudge to the safety of between, before Nonami is looking over the patch of ashburned flank. No signs there had been any live thread left, but better safe than sorry.

The wind is getting pretty bad. You struggle through, but wind up having to be extra alert for the windblown Thread! This is not a good situation to be in! [Geens, and blues wind up easily avoiding the blown Thread, their smaller sizes a great advantage. [+3 Agility!]

The wind wasn't their ally today, but didn't mean that Negoncath was determined to allow it to hurt her more than necessary! Her speed and flexibility on her side, she's able to curve and turn with the breeze to avoid the clump that would have fouled with her wings, and instead incinerate it to harmless ash.

Nonami's nudge to once more retreat to the breath-stealing cold of between had saved them from the pushback of ash and remaining thread. Negoncath lamented it continued to plummet, but hoped one of the lower altitudes would be able to catch it.

'You alright Pan?'
Delighted. Panioth's dry words made his rider chuckle, though getting blown back ash in his face hadn't been the best start to threadfall. He shook his head, mindly irritated, though wheeled back to find another clump.
A larger clump of Thread falls down hard and fast. Thankfully, your dragon is on top of it, and manages to hit the target with a large belch of flame just as it passes. [+1 Target Accuracy]
Much better! Panioth's shot is quick with a snap of his jaws, and the fireball actually manages to impress Es'ril. Nothing would fall by the bronze, not if he could help it.

This fall was plummeting fast and hard, but Panioth was determined to be faster than it. He's managing to curl his body around quick, the blast of fire hot and searing as it crisps it to ash.
