"Maybe the luck from your shell can help us?" It would definitely be a start. Something that rooted in ancient, local lore couldn't possibly be anything other than a benefit. Especially when used for pure purposes.
"Well...that you, your sister and your cousins grow up healthy and happy." She gave her niece another little squeeze. "If there's any left over after that big job then I'd hope that we could have many more meetings like this."

She held up the shell proudly, showing it off to the energies of the river. "We'd like more of these, please! They're for gifts!" she requested, gaze darting along the river's edge as though the request might be delivered on just like that. It could happen!
Giggling at getting another squeeze, she turned to nuzzle against Pyrrha's cheek. "We will! Enya and Pyanka seem really happy already, and I'm going to get stronger and protect everyone!" Eyes shining, she held the shell tight to her chest. She could feel the water soaking into her shirt, but she was loath to move it. "I want that luck, too! Many, many more meetings! One day we'll have a boat that doesn't have to hide and makes the trips easier! Right?"

Pyrrha, never one to miss a chance to send good thoughts into the world, joined in, "Any you can spare would be gladly appreciated!" The river was a fickle force that was just as giving as it was selfish. Showing gratitude with her niece may make for a smoother spring as well as something lovely for Pruu to take home with her.
"Exactly. One day you'll be able to make as many trips as you want, as openly as you want, with the stars to guide you." Some new movement in the river caught Pyrrha's eye and she gave a little gasp. A fat little shell was burrowing into the muck, just like the one Luleta was holding, but it was most definitely not empty. "Look, look!"

Luleta couldn't help an appreciative smile. Pruu believed in the energies of the world, but talking to those energies.. well, Lu usually did that on her own time. To see her aunt readily participating just confirmed all the more how deeply entwined together their family really was.
Pyrrha's excitement caught the youngling by surprise, her gaze darting around quickly to spot whatever was so exciting. And then...!! "Lakinu!" she chirped, taking a few steps closer for a better look. The fins sticking out were hilariously adorable! "If just the shell is lucky, seeing a whole one must be really lucky!" She looked at Pyrrha again with a delighted and hopeful grin. She knew everything would be okay...

At least she isn't trying to pick it up like Enya. Her own daughter's gut reaction to seeing her first Lakinu was to hoist it high into the sky and run away from anyone who wanted to take it from her.
Seeing the way her niece smiled gave Pyrrha the kind of hope she'd been looking for. It was comforting enough to know that her daughters were growing up free, but now that she had nieces who were still so full of light Pyrrha was excited to see the way the future would turn out.
