"Well uh...we're kinda back here because you summoned us sir."
Duh, was the unadded part to that sentence. Sorry Heather, while you fought so hard to keep your thoughts internal Scheelite just didn't have that level of self control.
"But uh..not to say I wouldn't want to stay. I absolutely would!" Ah, at least he was continuing on rather than just letting the unspoken 'duh' hang in the air.
"I asked her to power up with me, partially to remember how things feel. Partially...to see if anyone would bother trying to call us." He just hadn't expected it to be someone he'd never met. Tanzanite would have been his guess, and then he would have done some fast talking to smooth over everything going on between her and Paragonite and fix all of this. Or, at least, that's how a simplified version of events played out in his head.
None of this had gone as expected.
"So, you called us, we're here, and I'm ready to take responsibility and ready to help the Negaverse however I can. But I will keep Paragonite safe, at any cost."

Axinite’s eyes lingered on Paragonite even as Scheelite answered. He was watching her closely, because in the absence of any actual answer, he had to read whatever else she’d give him. Body language said enough for him, and as Scheelite spoke, his eyes eventually drifted to the Captain. It was a cute answer, at least. “I apologize. I hope you don’t think I’m silly enough to be surprised that you’re here, in my office, after I summoned you,” Axinite said plainly, smoothly, with a little smile still on his face. There wasn’t a bite in his voice, but there could have been, if he hadn’t been maintaining his very calm demeanor. “I should have clarified that I was more interested in knowing your intentions, given that you neglected your duties for so long but are now using Metallia’s gifts for leisure, and nostalgia’s sake. But we can sweep that under the rug if you’re sincere in your desire to take responsibility and help the Negaverse again. You would be welcome back in Destiny City. Back in the Negaverse. Appreciated, even. And if you stay close, we’ll be able to help protect you.” He looked between the both of them. “For whatever, whoever, you’re afraid of. I want you back, the both of you. You can tell me whatever you think I want to hear, but I want to know--really--what we need to keep you around this time.”

A slight quirk found itself on the Captain’s features. That was an interesting explanation that followed the curtness of her brother’s response. When Scheelite had simply blurted that out, she had panicked momentarily. Worried that it would be met with some sort of backlash. Axinite certainly maintained a great deal of restraint; interesting, if nothing else.
The offer that was almost casually tossed down was hard to ignore. Ten years was a long time, and apparently even the Negaverse wasn’t above sliding past discrepancies under the rug. At the same time, she was fully aware not taking him up on it would go very poorly. To her, at least, it was less ‘what are your plans and will you come back?’ and more ‘we know where you are now do you really think you have any other option?’.
Whether or not that was the actual intention, she couldn’t be sure. It didn’t matter though, since it also wasn’t wrong. No doubt Scheelite would be thrilled to return. He had never wished to leave in the first place. The blond had only done so to get her out of there, protecting her from her own choices and throwing himself into exile so she wouldn’t be alone.
Stars. Why did she ever have to develop an actual heart.
“If blanking the proverbial slate is what is honestly on the table here, sir,” Paragonite paused, her fingers twitched, wanting to fiddle with one of her batons, a habit when she was thinking things over, “I am certain we could see to returning to assist with things here.” despite her brother being the General, she rarely felt a need to wait for his approval. This would be good for him anyway, he should never have been dragged down by her actions.
“But I’m not moving back to Destiny City. I have business where I am, I can travel as need sees.”

A word like 'neglect' really hit him hard. It wasn't so much the neglect of duties that bothered him. It had, at the beginning, but the importance of things like energy gathering and paperwork faded into the background as the years passed by. The one thing that never left him was how his absence was neglecting his fellow officers. To have that word used by someone else just solidified his feelings of guilt.
Thankfully Heather seemed open to the idea of returning. She didn't need to seek his approval in this, she was already well aware just how badly he wanted to come back. Needed to, honestly.
"I also live away from the city, but uh...are offices still a thing for Generals? I'll gladly spend a ton of time there to make up for the fact I live elsewhere. I'm not...great on the front lines. General Queen Tanzanite took me out of those duties and had me focus on officers instead. That's something I'd prefer to keep to, I...know I'd freeze up in a fight and that's not going to do anyone any good."
There was no point in hiding this fact, as anyone with access to information likely already knew just how messed up he'd been after the Blood Moon Court. He'd spent weeks hiding out in corners of Negaspace, trying to come up with plans to keep everyone safe while recovering from the trauma. Or...well, recovering as much as anyone could after witnessing what he'd seen. He hadn't fought a battle since that one. Nemesis had come at him one night, terrifying him with her powers, but he still couldn't fight. Not anymore. The last thing he wanted to be was a liability on the battle frield.
"If that's agreeable then...I'm glad to be back?" His tone was hopeful. Where Paragonite was pretty certain there wasn't another choice, Scheelite felt the entire interaction was completely sincere. Axinite wouldn't force them back into a bad position!
Right?

Axinite seemed willing to work with them, at least as much as he could manage. “I apologize, but I’m afraid moving here is non-negotiable. There’s absolutely no way for either of you to function in the Negaverse if you aren’t stationed in Destiny City,” he said, again seeming sincere in his words. “Offices can be provided, of course, and the means to relocate. I won’t tell you to drop everything and forget the life you built for yourself elsewhere, but we’ll have to find a way to work around that.” He tapped his fingers on the desk thoughtfully, like his mind was working out some other problem even as he spoke. “The Negaverse can help with relocation, of course. I can see to it you’re set up with a place here, temporary or otherwise, to help you navigate your way back. Unfortunately, I don’t have the strength to get you to the Dark Kingdom every time you want to work, and you’d wear yourself out too much to be useful if you had to teleport in any time you wanted to do something. But.” He reached across his desk, to a little purple gem that almost looked as if it were a worry stone. His thumb fit into the groove almost perfectly, and he ran it over the smooth surface contemplatively. “I’ve been experimenting with crystals. This one amplifies some abilities. I’ve been using it to try and locate other officers. But it would be cruel of me to make so many demands and not try to do everything to accommodate you. I can loan it to you, for a bit. While you’re getting settled. It should ease the moving process, and give you the opportunity to return home. I can’t guarantee it will last forever, so use it sparingly, if you can. I’ll make sure you have the resources to afford whatever you need during this move. We can talk about where you’re stationed and what you’d like to do in more detail, when you’re settled in. When we’ve had time to update you on everything. But, I don’t see any issue with keeping you off the front line. There are plenty of things you can do, if you like. There are positions in nearly all of our branches that can give you the freedom you need.” He looked between the two of them. “I won’t ask for all of your time, but I will ask for enough of it. You will be welcomed back, with a clean slate. We’ll work with you. But no more running away, please. We need you here.”
