As they passed by several shops he paid attention to her to see what she might look at. If she were interested in something in particular he might stop or look into the item later. “Letters huh?” That was one way to keep in touch. “Well its good that you two have a good relationship as well. What about the father?”

“Ouen? He’s…” She stopped to think about it. Her smile softened a bit. “Ouen is a dear friend. We have children together but that is as intimate as he and I are.” She nodded her head at that. Kalli then looked at Gael. She knew Brexxa was adopted so she didn’t need to ask him about her mother. And if he was asking her on a date then there was no one special in his life. Not yet at least.

“I see.” Being friends with the father or mother of your children was always good even when things didn’t work out. He continued to lead the way to the park. He knew he was being slightly awkward about things. “I apologize. Its been a long time since I have done the whole dating thing..” He didn’t want to mess this up though.

She laughed at him. “Its fine. You’ve not offended me or anything.” She reassured him. Kalli moved to be a bit closer to him as they walked and she looked forward. “You know.. We could always write to one another when you aren’t in town.” It would be a way to keep in touch. She wouldn’t be as worried about him out at sea if she received a letter every so often.

“Oh?” He looked at her and even blushed some as she moved to be closer to him as they walked. It was going to take some getting used to. When she suggested they use letters to keep in touch he thought about it for a moment then nodded. “I would like that. And I can always tell you ahead of time which port I will be headed to so you can address the letters there.” If would give him something to look forward to too. Maybe this could work out after all.
