It's been a long, long, long time since Yasashii has been active. As Modifox slowly stirs once again the tribe has been revamped and adjusted to fit current Nym. There's been a few updates and changes to the Yasashii lore, with most of it not being a retcon! The tribe is incredibly old and it's assumed that throughout the years the tribe has created its own culture. The history for the tribe is entirely new, however, now that Nym is older and has a better idea for the flow of the tribe.
New ranks had been added, the tribe has moved locations, a Discord has been created, the tattoo has changed, and there's much more information on the tribe! Take a second to check it out~
Now, onto the first stage of the new Yasashii tribe; a meeting.
A few foxes are currently not in the tribe lands! They will arrive shortly, but are expected to take some time. Those foxes are: Eiko, Koto, Amaterasu, Chie, Kouki, Tenma, Vincent, and Kinseslagh. They are on their way home, in story, as a few were lost and finally were found.
The current season is summer!
➻ ➻ ➻
Everyone was exhausted.
Kithara didn't blame them, feeling her own weariness seep through her aching paws. If she was honest, she was absolutely spent -- the trip had been made twice by her, after all. Moving the tribe had been a topic for years, left unanswered as the tribe kept growing under her care. It had never been a good time. Or maybe that was just an excuse, perpetuated by the fear of failing her tribe by selecting a home they'd later despise. Whatever the reason, it had taken years for her to finally make her decision.
The scouting party had returned with news of a large island decorated by hundreds of pink trees, their mouths spilling awe and adoration before her. They loved it, and Kithara had left her tribe briefly to visit the island of dreams. It was a long trek -- longer than she'd ever like to be away from her tribe, but oh so worth it. They had been right; the island was perfect for her peaceful tribe. Her large tribe, that needed more room than she had ever thought she'd claim for herself.
The moment Kithara had returned home she summoned her tribe together and broke the news. There were plenty of excited faces, but it only made it easier to see the frowns and hear the whispers. Some would miss home, but others worried for those who had wandered off without a word; where would they call home if they ever returned? As the tribe gathered, packed, and prepared she was left with a growing worry for the lost souls who still belonged to Yasashii.
A few foxes had stayed behind, left with a few of the founding scout members who promised to bring home the others in a season. She hoped they would return with the lost tribe members. More importantly, she hoped they were safe. She also prayed they'd bring back her lost daughter on their return, too.
The trip had taken close to two months at a steady pace, halted briefly when a few members ended up with BCRs. Kithara found it a blessing; new lives on a journey to their new home? It had to be, right? She was grateful for the pitter patter of small paws, although the birth of new foxes was a nerve-wracking experience while they traveled. When they reached their island the tribe collapsed immediately on the edge and admired their lands.
And what beautiful lands it was.
It had been a week since the tribe had settled in, with foxes still settling down and creating homes for themselves. The general camp had been dug out, the watchpoints had been selected, and Kithara chose her own quiet home away from the hustle and bustle. She'd deny any claim of her old age, but Kithara wasn't young anymore. She certainly had plenty of life in her, but she longed for her own peace late in the night. Her new den was appreciated, even if her marriage remained strained, souring the air they shared.
Now, as Kithara had promised upon coming to their new home, it was time for a gathering. She stood on top of a large boulder centered neatly within Home Camp, appreciatively nodding as foxes spilled in and settled around her, lazily coiling tails around their bodies and one another as they sought the familiar comfort of their tribe.
It'd be a quick meeting, at least.
"Good evening, everyone." Her body shifted and arched upright, summoning the strength to remain tall and seen. "We have far more space than before, don't we? It'd be good to catch up with one another and inform the rest of the tribe where you've selected dens. I know many of you chose to remain in the Home Camp, but others decided more secluded homes. Like myself."
Her eyes locked briefly on Kaiya, her wife, flicking an ear idly as Kaiya raised her head in acknowledgement. Kithara tore her gaze away, scanning the crowd around her.
"Truthfully, this meeting was more to mingle and discuss. Ensure everyone is alright. We'll be accepting patients now that summer is underway, but first I'd like to make sure everyone is situated and knows the lay of the land. If anyone needs to speak to me please do so; I'll be here for awhile."
Clearing her throat, Kithara dipped her head, finishing her brief "speech" with a polite nod. The tribe rumbled softly as foxes chittered amongst themselves, a gentle and lulling sound she found welcoming.
It was good to be home.

Iah The journey wasn’t too bad. Iah had kept busy tending to those that had become sore during the journey but he often wandered, he was used to walking. His children had found the whole experience fascinating, although Damien hadn’t faired to well. His son had been neutral about the move, or at least outwardly had been neutral. However inwardly Iah could tell that Damien was a bit worried. Damien had known all the dangers and places of their last tribe land. Knew of other ways to sense them beyond hearing. He was always a bit apprehensive about change. Still as Iah looked over at Damien, his son seemed to be okay, watching Ata as she signed what kithara was speaking so Damien would ‘hear as well’ “I’m going to look over the sick dens. Since I’ll be working there a lot, makes sense to get more familiar with the work place. It shouldn’t take too long. I’ll be back afterwards.” He spoke up, he’d let Amy pick where she wanted them to live. He would be okay most anywhere, although he preferred a bit further away than everyone else. However what was more comfortable was his mate feeling safe in where ever she picked to live. Plus he and champagne had been shamans the longest, taking over about the same time Kithara had become elder. He liked being ready to answer any question from the younger ones and it would help Damien as well. Damien was still extremely shy when dealing with others.
Damien Damien listened as Ata signed the elder’s speech. Ah he wasn’t the biggest fan of mingling but it was an opportunity to try and meet some other members of his tribe and he knew Ata or tsukimi wouldn’t leave him alone. Hopefully this time he could carry a conversation. He wanted to at least be confident enough to help his father with being a shaman, and you generally needed to talk with a patient. Life was so much easier when he was a kit. Being an adult brought so many unnecessary actions. However he had made a promise to himself he would try. I’m okay Ata, I knew today was probably going to be tough but not everyone knows sign and the patients might not either. It’s a good chance for some practice at lip reading.” He said, reading the expression from his half sister’s face. Ever since she had ended up with bcr’s she had been acting way more motherly. He was a tiny bit grateful as he couldn’t depend on tsukimi for everything.

Taavi had enjoyed the journey, even if it had been slightly nerve-wracking. He had never left the original tribe grounds before -- never even thought of doing so. The task of moving the tribe had been a difficult one for some, but for Taavi it was simply new. What would unfold in their new home? What would occur that couldn't before? Would he like the new terrain? Would he and Amami find it a better home? Would she be happy with their new den?
There were a lot of tiny questions in the back of his mind during the trip, but the moment he saw his new home he knew; it was where the tribe belonged.
Now that everyone had begun to settle in it was a scramble to find their dens. Some would stay in the home camp, but not Taavi. Not if he could help it. He liked his privacy, although Amami might have a different idea. He hadn't asked her yet. Everything had been such a blur that the idea of finally things slowing into a normal felt odd. Welcomed, of course, but strange.
He was grateful for the meeting at least, noting faces he hadn't seen in the last few days. His gaze paused on his father and brother, head cocking as he untangled himself from Amami's side and padded over, large body squeezing through the crowd until he was before Damien.
'Hey,' he signed, tail wagging twice. 'Did you find a place yet? I still need to do the same... there's a lot more room here.'

If Lillie was honest she... wasn't the happiest about the move. No, it wasn't Yasashii's fault for her terrible mood -- she was still recovering from the fact the crush she had harbored was fruitless. She had gotten carried away with her hope and pursuit of love, egged on as she witnessed her parents in their happy bliss everyday. She wanted that -- wanted a best friend who lifted her up when the world seemed keen on keeping her down. Camille had seemed that, or at least someone who could become it, and then they were gone and Yasashii moved, further cementing the end. How would they find her now?
They wouldn't. That was the point. It hadn't been meant to be.
It was, frankly, unlike her to hang herself up on such a chance thing, but Lillie didn't often do things for herself. So, it stung -- she had finally tried and it bit her in the butt. Still, Lillie had to move on, and she had (kind of), she just hated the taste of failure. The move had just stressed her out on top of it, but her family seemed mostly happy at least. Lillie had wandered off on her own when the tribe found their new home, already picking a place she liked for a den. The sound of her father in the distance was easily noted, her tail twitching as she hopped into motion and jogged towards him.
"Dad, wait -- I'll come!" she called, skidding at his heels. "I should get familiar with the place, too. I want to get right into work."

The move hadn't been easy for Amy, evident as she clung to Iah's side the entire time. She had, long ago, really worked on getting around without sight, but the familiarity of Yasashii had been welcomed. She had been one of the first members, giving her plenty of time to grow more than accustomed to her home. She had possibly taken it for granted, evident as she struggled to learn the terrain effectively. A new home was good, of course, especially due to the growth of the tribe, but Amy missed moving with purpose.
She had come to the meeting clung tightly to Iah's side, tail sweeping occasionally when her mate drifted too far, feeling for empty space for her paws. Luckily, Amy was known fairly well within the tribe and foxes parted for her when she needed it, making things easier for her. She disliked it, honestly -- relying on others was something she had long outgrew and found frustrations with, but it was worth it if their new home was as magical as some of her tribe friends had claimed.
"Okay," she murmured towards Iah, rooted in her spot. She wasn't going with him -- she needed a break from feeling around for a moment. Her head tilted towards the sound of rustling, a soft and frustrated breath escaping her until Damien spoke up, giving her a direction to cant her head. Damien was the hardest to communicate with on her end, something that always nagged at her. She couldn't sign well, not without her sight, and it often ate away at her with guilty teeth. She was his mother -- she ought to do better for him.
'Damien, okay? Did you- did you-' her signing fumbled as she forgot the movement, ears flicking in restrained frustration. 'Sick dens -- have you been?'

Poko had never before lived in a more beautiful place. Even now, a week later, she was still astounded by the sights. It had been a long a difficult journey, but Poko certainly couldn't say it wasn't worth it. Two whole months had gone by since they left their first home, and in that time Poko and her mate Pikkoku had two wonderful children. Raising them on the road hadn't been easy, but on the other hand Pykari and Pucca brought joy to so many. They had certainly given Poko the strength to continue the journey. They deserved the best home Yasashii could give them.
Poko walked a lap around the outskirts of Home Camp, watching the other foxes mingle, before circling back around to her family. "Is there anywhere particular you'd like to see?" She asked. As a scout, Poko had had more opportunities over the past week to explore the island. She had told them all about some of the great sights on their new tribe lands, with promises to take them on a tour soon. Now certainly seemed like a good opportunity, as Kithara specifically urged everyone to familiarize themselves with the island. Poko would leave it up to the others as to where they should go first.

Damien walked over slowly allowing his mother to hear his footsteps and smell that it was him before nuzzling her cheek in a familial manner. “I have been once briefly during a tour.” Damien said. “I’ve gotten really good with lip reading recently if you want to talk.” He knew when he was little, communicating was hard and not everyone was the best at signing. As well, he also knew he wasn’t an easy child to raise but he was healthy and made it to adulthood and communicating was better. Amy was the best mother Damien was pretty sure he could have, although he was very biased, and he just wished he could convey to her how much he meant that. Of course that’s about when his brother showed up. “I haven’t picked yet, been trying to learn the area to note potential dangers.” Damien answered. “Have you and…” and what was his sister in law’s name. Ah yes Amami. “Have you and Amami picked yet?” —- Iah did look back to see if Amy was going to be okay, but it looked like she was going to be spending time with Damien. She’d be okay. She was one of the strongest foxes he knew after all. However it was about then he heard one of his daughters and stopped, letting Lillie catch up with him. He sort of knew she was struggling with a broken heart or well maybe not broken but disappointed. He wondered talking to her about it would help. He of course worried. No one wanted their child to be hurt. However he didn’t want to awkwardly just be like ‘well your mother and I struggled with love too’. “If you want, you can totally come with me… “ he started. “It’s okay to take time for your self too. I won’t go too doctor on you, but I do care and worry.”
Sugar yawned. She herself was tired after the long move. She watched and heard the shaman and his children sort themselves out. That was a complicated family in many ways but you could feel the love they had for one another which was a blessing to be around. She snuggle up close next to her bouncy mate feeling the others’ energy about the move. Sugar would have been happy to remain behind but her lovable mate seemed to long for the adventure so she managed to scrape her old bones up to head out. She gave her mate a small kiss on the cheek and then whispered something to her. In no time at all her mate was up in a flash and gone bounding about. Sugar stood up and stretched out. She had just promised to pick them out a den while her mate toured the land and would find a place for them to have a carrot snack latter. She never understood the other’s love of carrots but watching her eat was so cute that Sugar would easily be persuaded to take a few snack breaks a day to make her mate happy.
On a clearly excited mission Ryo-Ohki bounded up to a tribe scout. “Best places.” Her whiskers twitched as she wanted to know the best places to have snacks and meals and just see things in the tribe. Her sentences had never been long but most others knew her well enough to figure out what she wanted when she slowed down and repeated it often enough. Her eyes were focused on the scout as intently as she was on carrots which was an impressive amount of focus. “See best places.” Sbe pleaded continuing her intense stare.

Rox was... relieved. Having traveled alongside his family with the tribe they called home, the overwhelming anxiety that had wormed its way into Rox’s heart during the entirety of the journey (too many foxes, he didn’t belong in a tribe, he hated tribes, THERE WERE TOO. MANY. FOXES) finally - finally - gave way when they arrived at their final destination: the tribe’s newly claimed lands. “No need to worry, love. I won’t stray too far. Kids, be good for your mother, alright?” Parting ways with Akela and their children temporarily at the border of the island, he watched them enter Yasashii’s new territory with a fond smile on his face. He would see them again soon, but for now, he needed to accustom himself to the area and find a good place to settle down. Outside of the tribe lands, but close enough to make seeing his family on a regular basis an easy thing to do.
... ... ...
After a good amount of time spent searching, Rox had found a nice spot, an old burrow beneath a tree - probably the home of a creature that had long since abandoned it. He had gone straight to work, scratching and digging away to give his new home a comfortable amount of space - enough for himself and Akela, at least, for those rare moments when she needed to get away from the busyness of tribe-life. Making his way back out of the den, he took a brief moment to rest and catch his breath, beginning to feel tired like... well, just about everyone who had made the migration here, even after settling in this last week. The journey here... Ugh. It had been a long journey to get here.
Letting out a sigh and giving one last look back at the den - it was starting to look pretty comfortable right about now - Rox rose to his feet and began to make his way towards Yasashii, a new goal on his mind: finding Akela and spending a bit of time with her.
Eager to explore her new home, Amandine had ventured off on her own after Kithara’s speech, wandering the pink forest at her own pace. She was in no real rush or hurry. The young shaman would find herself drifting towards some of the plants and herbs she spotted - some familiar, others foreign and new. How exciting! She wasn’t collecting any materials for medical work right now, but merely taking a few mental notes. Getting the lay of the land. You figure she would have been tired of walking after the tribe’s migration, but nope! Here she was, just... choosing to take a leisurely stroll.
Finding herself moving towards the northern parts of the island, Amandine eventually caught sight of her father making his way across the little isles serving as the main entrance to the tribe’s territory. “Oh! Hi, daddy!” Meeting him halfway, she gave him an affectionate nuzzle and a head bump, a smile on her face. “Here for a visit?” Receiving the same amount of affection and a nod, Amandine walked side-by-side with her father. “I’m not exactly sure where mom is right now, but Kithara called for a little meeting earlier, so she shouldn’t be too hard to find. The island is big, sure, but like... it’s an island. We can look for her together. Who knows, maybe she’ll find us before we even get to Camp?” And with that, the two began to make their way to where the majority of the tribe had gathered.
((Rox would normally let one of the guards or a scout know when he's visiting, but he ran into Amandine this time! <: ))

Ori, meanwhile, had chosen to remain at Home Camp. Until Kithara’s speech was done and everyone around had begun to mingle. Stifling yawns in an effort to be polite, he finally tossed politeness to the side as the tribe began to chit-chat and find their way around, stretching much like a cat and following it with a wide yawn. Satisfied, the male decided to leave the busy gathering, at least for now, to gather a few useful things and maybe look for a nice den site for himself. He loved his family, but come on, a guy needed his space.
The male, while known for being laid-back and absentminded, was not rude. Not intentionally, at least. He knew his manners, and he had been raised well by his folks. He approached his elder before leaving the gathering, giving her a lazy smile. “Hey there. Nice speech, Elder Kithara.” Drifting into a comfortable pause, he allowed his eyes to wander before... ah, there. Moving just a few steps away, Ori snatched what appeared to be just a common flower, a daisy of some kind. Setting it down on the boulder she was perched up on, he grinned. “A little token of appreciation, I guess? Thanks for lookin’ out for all of us. I know the journey here and all the stuff leading up to it was, uh...” Failing to come up with an actual answer, he gave a slight shrug, “...A lot. But I think this is the change we all needed.”
With a click of his tongue, he changed the subject. “Anyways. I’m gonna gooo... scout the island for a nice den spot.” Giving a wag of his tail, he began to trot away, deciding at last minute to look over his shoulders and address Kithara a final time. “Oh, I’ll holler if I need help or... something. Y’know. Figured I should say something instead of just... running off. I’ll return to Home Camp around nightfall? In case anyone asks around for me, like my folks or, uh, my army of sisters. You know how family can be.” And with that, he gave a polite nod, turning his attention fully to the forest surrounding them. Giving a noncommittal shrug, Ori picked a random direction and began to venture off to do some exploring of his own.

The journey had been long and hard that Akela knew but her mate Rox had gotten to travel with the tribe to their new lands even though he wasn't part of the tribe. Kithara was a kind elder for allowing him to travel with them. She could have turned him away even though that would have been so very unlikely. It made the trip easier for Akela and her kids being able to see Rox every day. But when the day had come for them to part ways, her into the lands and him to the surrounding area, her heart broke some. She had gotten so used to him being there every day she couldn't even remember how she managed to be away from him for such long periods of time. But she would have to relearn as she held the tears back in her eyes as she watched her mate disappear from view. Taking a deep breath she followed Kithara into the lands with her children at her heels.
----------- She had done it. Time passed and she fell back into her routine. Gatherer whatever was needed for the Elder or others. Everyone seemed to be home and Kithara had called for a meeting at camp. Being one of the older members she was of course there. She called out hello's softly to all. She had spied one of her children slipping away and shook her head at him. He could have at least said hi. She wondered to where all her children could have gotten.
Ayaka smiled as the Elder welcomed everyone back. She was excited to be able to talk to others. Not that she hadn't before but there was still a serious air around everything as everyone was hard at work. But now the air seemed more relaxing at long last. She wandered over to the Shaman's family to say hello.

After Kithara's speech Aura wondered right up to her with a bright smile and tail wagging. This girl always seemed to have energy. "Hi Elder Kithara. That was a nice speech. How are you doing? Thank you for all your hard work and finding us an even better home. We really appreciate it." Though she had a tendency to let everything going around in her mind to tumble out in one go without a pause.
Kirito stood at the edge of the meeting watching others mingle. He knew his new mate was in there somewhere as well as his children. Both were such new concepts to him but so was a tribe. His parents never joined a tribe as far as he knew... well besides the one his father was a part of as a BCR and Kit but it had disbanded shortly after that. From what he knew that tribe was a bit more harsh which was more than likely why his father was so standoff-ish to anyone but the family. His mother was kind but tore up over his grandmother for whom he had not meet nor did he know where she was. But to his knowledge no one did. He got along with foxes well. He was like his mother in that way but he could be a bit awkward like his father so he just sat back and waited.
Nasaiki
Kai padded up to his mother on quite and yet strong steps. He knew he was approaching Damien and Amy. Son and Mother. One couldn't hear and the other couldn't see. He wasn't trying to startle anyone and knew the new place was probably playing havoc on their nerves a bit but he felt he should let his mother know about his father. "Mother." he called in a calm steady voice.

Pykari had been born on the road and thus never really known a home, although she could appreciate the one presented to them. The young vixen couldn't even imagine what staying in one place could be like, but she found herself enamored with the island the Yasashii had finally settled in. Yeah -- she liked it here! It was much better than walking all the time, anyway!
"I just wanna sightsee -- the island is so big! Pucca, what do you think?' Pykari nudged her sibling before glancing around, pouting. "Mom still isn't back?' Pikokku had been called over to talk to a few of the other Carers right before the family had settled in for the meeting, and it seemed like she was still busy. Boo!
Amy sighed softly, faint enough that it almost made no sound. "I know, I just-" she cut off as Taavi arrived, allowing her voice to falter. She had wanted to say she just wanted to communicate with Damien the way that was easiest for him, but she was grateful for Taavi's interruption, pleased to have her family so close.
Taavi smiled as his brother paused to remember Amami's name, waiting patiently until they finished their sentence. "I think so!" He signed earnestly. "Do you want me to come with you next time you look? I've been enjoying seeing the island."
She could sense the concern in her father's tone, scrunching her face lightly. Ugh, she hated worrying either of her parents. She was fine, or would be eventually.
"I'm okay. It happens." She hesitated, not one to actually talk about her feelings but... "Anyway, it's not like we were -- it was silly. I shouldn't have gotten carried away."
Kithara had settled neatly as her tribe pleasantly buzzed, drinking in the energy with a smile. She was happy to see everyone settling in so nicely, but man was she tired. She caught the familiar sight of purple as Ori drifted towards her, a rare but pleasant sight. The family had grown under Yasashii's care and Kithara had always enjoyed the company of each individual member, although she hadn't spoken to Rox much. They often reminded her of her own tightly knit family, which... she needed to visit sometime soon.
"Hello, Ori." Her voice remained warm and she appreciatively tucked the flower behind her ear with a grateful hum. "Thank you. I know the journey wasn't an easy one, for any of us, but thank you for putting your faith and trust in me."
And just as quickly as Ori had slunk into sight he had parted, leaving a clue as to where she could find him if needed. She didn't blame him, honestly -- the journey had kept the large group stuck to one another's side for months, and it'd drive plenty of foxes to seek some space now that the tribe had settled.
And then another one of Akela and Rox's brood arrived at Kithara's paws, this time in the form of a bubbly Aura. Kithara waited for the vixen to spill her words, laughing faintly at the sweet energy. Really, Akela and Rox had good kids. "And hello there, Aura," she hummed, gently sweeping her tail to lightly tap the friendly vixen.
"I'm glad you like it as much as I do. Did you find somewhere to settle yet? I've wanted to check in on how everyone is fairing. Did your father wander off already?"

Compared to most others in the tribe, Amami didn’t find the recent move all that difficult. In fact, it had been quite easy for her! She had lived on her own for so long before meeting Taavi and joining Yasashii, traveled so much on her own, that it all came back naturally to her - moving from one place to another was a breeze at this point, something that she had always been accustomed to. Some fellow tribe members, most notably her mate’s family (...you might as well call them her family as well at this point, Amami adored them all), did not find the entire ordeal to be that easy. That was something that concerned her. Seated with the tribe as Kithara addressed the group, she couldn’t help but let her eyes wander to some of the members of Taavi’s family, quietly wondering if they had all been adjusting well to their new home. “It must be difficult.” she thought, “After all, Amy and Iah were some of the founding members of the tribe. They called the old territory home for so long...”
Oh? Just like that, it seemed the meeting was now over. Lost in her own thoughts, Amami was finally brought back to the present as she felt Taavi leave her side. She smiled fondly as he went off to chat with his family, sitting quietly by herself for a moment and mulling over her recent thoughts.
Coming to a decision, one known only to her, Amami rose from her spot and followed after her mate. “Hello!” She greeted the small group with a friendly smile, wagging her tail as she approached. She made her way to Amy’s side as the brothers held their signed conversation, jewelry softly clinking as she sat down next to her mother-in-law. Out of everyone in the tribe (besides Taavi, of course), it was Amy that she felt most comfortable around. The older vixen had welcomed her into the family with open arms and taught her just about everything a carer needed to know, and Amami had quickly found herself viewing the other as a true mother figure, someone she could always rely on. “You know...” Amami gave a tilt of her head, “we could always go and explore some of the island, now that Kithara is done speaking? If you guys don’t have any other plans, of course.” With a soft laugh, she leaned in enough for only Amy to hear. “A peaceful afternoon away from the rest of the tribe, exploring the land at your own pace? And getting a little quality time with some of your family? That sounds pretty nice to me.”
