Cavansite was expecting pain. It had been pain from the first. When Painite had corrupted her, brought her into the Negaverse, that had been pain. Each of her upgrades to a higher rank had been pain. The Youmaglia had been a pain that she never wanted to feel again, but this.
This was different. THis wasn’t a feeling that she was used to at all. Cosmos had a light touch, and she wasn’t alone. Cavansite wasn’t alone at all, her friends. Her new family were beside here, and there was even a fluffy grumpy cat at her feet...she was cared for. And cared about.
She put up no resistance. Didn’t make any sort of fight against what the woman was doing.
She wanted this.

Qingcheng reached out his hand and covered the hand that rested against Cavansite’s chest, his eyes flickering up to Cosmos for a moment, wondering if there was anything else he should do about sharing his energy.
He wished that he had more to give though. More to give to her. To Yu, and to Karone.
Something in his starseed seemed to respond, be it to the presence of Cosmos there, or to the situation, but after a moment, he did have more. No longer was he a Squire holding his hand over Cosmos’, but a Knight.

Nalanda mimicked Qingcheng and placed his hand over Cosmos' other hand. He was tired. He'd been tired before this, and it was beyond a physical thing. Emotionally, he was drained. He kept his eyes focused on Parisite, wanting to preserve every bit of this into his memory, wanting to keep eye contact, if only because some part of him told him that if he looked at Yu, if he saw Yu, the universe couldn't take him from them.
He wasn't used to the universe helping; he was only vaguely aware of the shift in power next to him, but Qingcheng wasn't the only one whose starseed was ready to be pushed, ready to give more.
Nalanda had his quill fastened to his waist, but he felt a different weight, a stronger one, and he leaned against it as he kept his grip on Parisite's hand and retained contact with Cosmos.
The surge of strength that flowed through him gave him strength--strength he hoped could be passed through Cosmos, through Parisite.
Knight Nalanda had no more control or influence on the outcome of this, but he could not even appreciate what he'd reached when he was still just trying to cling to Yu.

The change from Squire to Knight in not one but two Cosmos Knights was unexpected--but not unappreciated. Their strength was her strength, a conduit to funnel the energy she needed to drive the Chaos out of each starseed simultaneously. She did not waver; her back straightened and a glow seemed to surround her as she pushed, doing all that she could to drive back the Chaos from their starseeds. She did not take more energy than she needed; the supplemental power that they provided did not go to her, only through her--the extra push she needed to dispel the darkness that gripped them.

It was strange and wonderful to see Priam and Sterling blossom into something stronger. Beautiful uniforms and new weapons that suited them. The sensation of power, that different power that Sterling and Priam and everyone he’d met on the side of order seemed to use as their base, it didn’t feel like when he’d been promoted to Captain, it felt like… Like realizing you were underwater, and the water wanted to hold you, to drag you down and drown you, but now - now there were warm hands reaching to draw you up to safety. Leaving behind that clawing darkness that wanted to hold you back, hold you down. More than that though, it just, overflowed. It was like warmth spilling over cupped hands and he felt… Stronger. and Free.

Cavansite felt as the two squires grew stronger and she couldn’t stop the small smile that curved over her lips, and the utter warmth that was flowing through her was almost intoxicating. Cleansing, and bringing with it a new sense of clarity.
There was a little pain, but it was a good type of pain, like the popping of a dislocated bone back into place, and a sudden sense of peace.
When she finally opened her eyes, she was different. No longer a General of the Negaverse, but a Knight.
...A Knight of Cosmos.
She gave a soft, almost amused sounding snort and she sighed. “...Figures…” It wasn’t a punishment, but...it was ironic. To become what she had once hated…
Though, she felt free. Free from turmoil and pain. Free from the fear that had been following her since she had told Priam. Since Yu had found out about Sterling.
Her eyes moved back to the face of the woman who had made this all possible, and Sava inclined her head. “...Thank you.”

Qingcheng nearly began weeping when both chaos signatures faded, and two bright, crisp order signatures stood in their places. He let his hand drop and just looked between the two. “It...it worked...” He swallowed hard, looking between the two. At least...Cavansite...knight looked as though she...knew where she was...what was going on...that...that was good. That was...good. But Yu…
He swallowed and looked at the Knight of Saturn with some worry in his eyes. “...You two made it…” Qingcheng swayed after a moment, the borrowed energy and the stress of the situation finally seeming to catch up. “...You’re both free...” He looked back to Cosmos. “...Seriously, thank you...You saved them both.”

Nalanda was still holding his breath, and it felt like a horrible mixture of relief and fear, because it had worked, and that was the good part of it. Cavansite wasn't a General, she was one of them, which made as much sense as anything. Maybe it was because Cosmos herself was there, maybe it was because that was what she was always supposed to be, but of course Yu would wind up surrounded by them.
He couldn't find it in his heart to be disappointed that Yu wasn't a Cosmos Knight too, but fear and uncertainty gripped him so tightly that he was forgetting to breathe. The colors were different, but dark, at first, and he he worried that something had gone wrong and he was still in the Negaverse.
The energy signature was different, though--stronger. Warmer.
It had worked--Qingcheng had said as much, and no one spoke up to disagree.
He was still running on adrenaline and blurted, "Do you remember?"
There wasn't much tact in the question, and Priam seemed to have lost his typical eloquence. He just needed to know. He was ready for the next chapter, not a new book, and The End of Yu scared him more than being thrown off of a building, because no matter how many times he said he was ready, he wasn't. No answer would chase him away, but he wasn't going to throw his arms around a man who didn't remember him, didn't know how much they loved and wanted him.

The Chaos was gone. The last tendrils of it burned away, leaving only two Knights. Another Cosmos Knight brought the faintest smile to her face, because even as stoic and otherwordly as she was, it meant that someone else had come home. There was a Wonder out there with restored protection. Saturn should be grateful that one of its own returned as well, and Cosmos found a little more peace in their presence. But, she was tired. She had redirected the energy of the other two into this but it had been taxing. She lowered her hands from their chests and took a step back, giving them space. "You do not need to thank me. I am glad I was able to help. The path to salvation was their own. I know it is not an easy journey, but I am glad you have each other. I do not wish to intrude. I will take my leave," she said, partly because she was tired and did not like to leave the Cauldron unattended, and partly because she could drive away the Chaos but she could not help them with the aftermath. "If you ever require aid, you need only call. I will always come when I can."

“I-I….” Laojun stammered at the question, He searched for the names of those in Uniforms around him, and came up empty, he couldn’t remember exactly how he’d gotten to the park either. He’d talked things over with… Priam and Sterling. He’d been such a s**t, and then… Michael and… the hospital, he’d been there, and they’d gone home safe. He quashed the momentary anxiety that he had forgotten a loss. “…Y-you, guys…. know Sterling, and Priam, and Karone….right? They’re ok?” He squeezed the staff in his hands, unfamiliar and not something he’d prefer to fight with. Which wasn’t a thought he should be having really, they were all on the same side, weren’t they? Well… he was wearing darker colors, but…

Sava watched as Cosmos left, feeling a little sad at the loss of the woman who she was supposed to...to what? To serve? She let her eyes flicker to Nalanda who looked halfway to having a panic attack, both happy and worried as he asked Parisite--no...not anymore. Whoever Parisite had become...if he remembered.
…She remembered...she…
She had been Cavansite. She...she had…
Her mouth went a little dry at the thought and with a sigh, she powered down, finding it just as easy to do as it had been to get rid of her Negaverse guise. “Don’t worry, kid. I...we’re here for you. We knew there would be memory loss...ah.
She shrugged, feeling confused. There wasn’t a name that she could think of. She had no sense of...of self right now. But she knew these three. They were her friends. Her family.
“I’ve forgotten who I was. This me. I...I remember Cavaniste. I remember...I think everything...but...ah. I’m a little lost on names right now.”
It should bother her. It should...but there were too many feelings right now to sort through them. “...Can we go home?”

Qingcheng drew in a shaky breath, and his eyes flickered between the Saturn Knight and the new Cosmos Knight, watching as she powered down, and blinking slightly as he looked at her. She wasn’t...Karone, but she...wasn’t…not Karone either…
Magic was so strange…
Swallowing, Qingcheng let his powered form slip away, taking Nalanda’s hand and moving to hug Laojun. “I’m here. I’m Sterling. This is Priam. We’re here. We wouldn’t leave you...You remember us? That...that’s really good. Really good…”
There were tears coming down his face and he didn’t realize.
Yu was free. He knew who they were...they were all safe and...everything was going to be okay.

That he’d asked for Sterling and Priam meant that he remembered enough of them to know them. He hadn’t forgotten everything. Nalanda could breathe again, and as Sava and Qingcheng powered down, so did he.
He only recognized Sterling, but Soleiyu had prepared them for all of this, he’d talked about what magic could do to protect someone after they swapped sides. As Priam, he could breathe. They could go home, all of them. They could live. A few bumps in the road, but they could overcome them.
They could overcome everything.
He hugged the Saturn Knight--Yu--and breathed a sigh of relief. Resting his head on Yu’s shoulder, he hesitated and reached to give Karone--or whoever she was going to be now--a little squeeze on her shoulder. “It’ll be okay,” he promised. “You write yourself a letter, just in case.”
Soleiyu piped up, still sitting on her feet, “And Ammersee, who used to be Amesite. I’ve got him on speed dial. If you need help or just want to talk to someone and settle in, he’s ready. And he’s got Gail, your sister, if you forgot that. But you have a family to support you. You all do. A big one. I take care of my Senshi,” he said, and then added, “And my Knights. And you’re all mine, and I will always look after you. So you have nothing to worry about, except for this cold. So pick me up,” he nudged her ankle, “And I’ll see that you’re all taken care of. Let’s get you all home.”

“We… we did it then… right?” He said with growing joy, it was, strange and awful tone missing something that felt so close. But there were other things that he’d pushed down hard in his mind before, if he just thought of this the same way, how bad could it be. His boyfriends, hugging him, and they were so pretty when powered too, and Karone…. right? It had to be… he remembered writing the letters. “We really did it…” He said almost breathless again. Squeezing familiar faces and realizing that in the strangest way he’d finally truly cut ties with everything he’d been running from for so long. Such a silly thing to be happy about, but it felt important all the same. To turn away from everything, and walk right into the arms of a happy home.

Scooping up the cat, she pressed a kiss to his furry face and nodded, watching as the two hugged whoever Yu had become tightly and after a moment she nodded. “I would like to see him. I…” She didn’t remember any Gale, and if that was her sister, that...was almost painful to think of. She hoped that the girl wouldn’t be too upset by this.
“I want to read the letters too. And sleep. I’m...quite tired.” And she didn’t remember where home was. She remembered teleporting in there but...not how to get to it any other way.
...It was frightening. And honestly, she didn’t like it. But...it would be okay. She had a soft cat in her arms, and she had these three smushy boys and...a sister who was out there. And Amesite. ...Ammersee?
She wasn’t alone. And she would have time to figure out just who she was again.
“All right, all right.” She tried to put confidence into her voice and grinned suddenly. Let’s go home, Priam, Sterling, you two lead the way. I’ve forgotten so. Deal with it.”
This would be fine.
They would be fine.
...this was freedom.
