Evan still seemed flustered about it, but as he held the ring in his hand he managed a little smile and drew it closer. It was precious to him, it was a reminder that he was worth being loved. That someone wanted him.
He didn't draw away when she rested closer.
"They'll be here soon. They--they can be a little loud. It'll be okay. I texted them that I was with an agent who wanted to purify, and said to meet me at the fountain. So, we can go when you're ready. If you need a minute, we can wait here."
He hesitated and then reached over, lacing fingers with her as he held her hand.
Karone. She was human. She was a person. She looked worried, she looked afraid.
Evan understood that. Evan felt that.
"It'll be okay," he said, voice soft and reassuring even in his own fear and uncertainty. "...You'll be okay. And your Captain, and his boyfriend. And it's okay to be scared." He had a lump in his throat still, but he just held on a little tighter. "...I'm really proud of you for asking for help. I know that's hard. I won't let you down."

When she powered up, Cavansite held Evan’s hand gently, teleporting with him to the fountain. He was trusting her. Trusting her with his very life. It was honestly...kind of profound. When they arrived, she let go of his hand, rather reluctantly. He wasn’t a hostage. She wouldn’t let them think that.
The General was quiet for a moment and gave a soft sigh. “I hope this was the right fountain...you...you honestly trusted me to teleport with you...I...I do realize that such a thing is a big deal, please don’t think I don’t. I...very much appreciate you, Evan. Thank you. For all of this. And I hope that...I get to meet your fiancé soon. Maybe you can even invite me to your wedding, yeah?” Cavansite managed a grin, looking at Evan and feeling a sudden sense of affection.

"This is the right fountain," he said, after he'd forced himself to open his eyes. For a split second he had been afraid she'd teleported him back to the Rift, that she was going to leave him with the youma, but the fresh air and general sounds of Destiny City relaxed him, and he found himself leaning back against the fountain a bit.
"I should have given more directly, but it's the big one. I like this one the most, especially with the lights that come on at night. Um. I don't..." He was quiet. "...I don't like to be in the darkness. I haven't for a while." He rubbed his arm uncertainly. "...Even before I was a youma. So it's kind of. I've had to work on a lot of things. And I'm still working on them."
He couldn't feel the approaching energy signatures but he moved a little closer to her anyway. "...You can come to the wedding. We haven't set a date or anything, but that gives us plenty of time, I think. To make enough friends to fill out all the seats."
He tried to smile, tried to be reassuring, but it was short lived when a voice barreled behind them. "Evan, get over here." It was stern and firm, not angry, but hardly encouraging. Evan bristled and replied, "It's okay!"
Two energy signatures--a Squire and a Knight--were upon them in the blink of an eye, and the colors of Neptune and Saturn were clear on them. The Squire seemed calmer, but the Knight had already worked himself up. He walked with fast, heavy steps, all but shoved himself between Cavansite and the General. His expression was cold and he grabbed Evan's wrist, almost forcefully.
"Move," the Knight commanded, and Evan seemed to shrink beneath the command. He didn't move.
"Evan," the Knight commanded, "Get behind me."
From a few steps away, hurrying to catch up, the Neptune Squire stepped in. He was quieter but equally firm. "Let's be civilized."
"I'll do what I ******** want," the Saturn Knight bit back, eyes cold and on Cavansite like he could see through her if this was some truck. "I'm not going to walk right into a trap and I'm not going to let any of you do that either."
The Saturn Knight was clearly the more aggressive of them, and in his free hand he had already summoned a long, pointy looking clock hand that must have been his weapon. He seemed ready to wield it in the blink of an eye. He still held Evan's wrist tightly and tried to yank him behind him, but Evan was startled and worried about Cavansite and grabbed her hand again.
"He's not hurt," the Squire protested, "You're just making things worse. You're scaring him," the Neptune Squire said, and tried to at least lower the Saturn Knight's weapon. He took his wrist to try and gently tug him away when he realized words weren't working.
And then, in the blink of an eye, everything went dark.
