“I don’t know,” Misha whispered back. “It’s hard to see. This stupid camera,” he grumbled under his breath, pausing to fiddle with the settings. “Why is everything blurry?”
He was tempted to tiptoe out, find another hiding spot behind a tree closer to the creature, anything to get better footage, but snow crunched in the creature’s direction, and the next time Misha peaked out from behind their current tree, he could have sworn the creature looked back at him.
Misha stood very still, and very quiet. He kept a hand on Yuuri to stop him from bolting, but his grip tightened. Instead of being reassuring, it was probably panic inducing.
“I think maybe you’re right,” he said, though he managed to sound calm. “We should go.”
He waited until the creature was no longer facing their direction, then yanked Yuuri away from the tree.
“Run!”
Misha still had a smile on his face. His heart was beating erratically, his breath came in quick gasps, and he kept looking over his shoulder to make sure they weren’t being followed, but there was still something exhilarating about the whole thing.
If only he managed to get better footage.
Well, the illusion of a chase might be fun. He kept his camera rolling, capturing the scenery as they ran back out of the trees, getting a few shots of Yuuri’s terrified face while they were at it.

Yuuri was pretty sure his heart couldn’t handle the anxiety. He was sorely tempted to transform and teleport them both out of there by the time Misha yanked him away from the tree and told him to run.
At least Misha was enjoying himself it seemed. He was still smiling anyway. And Yuuri didn’t have to be told twice about running. Misha would have to keep up with him, although he was much faster as Kamacite.
If they were lucky, they would have enough content to piece together, but something told him their efforts would end up like the others before them and their footage would be no good.
Whatever that creature was, it had to have been a huge youma or something else which sent shivers down Yuuri’s spine as he remembered the creature back in the village with the fog. He would very much like to not cross paths with a monster like that again.
At least his current company was much better than the one he had previously.
To make sure Misha didn’t fall behind, Yuuri pulled his arm away from the other young man’s grasp, and took hold of his hand instead, encouraging him to run faster.

Even without good footage of the creature itself, Misha could still make a decent video out of what they had. Sometimes the hunt was the best part.
He laughed when Yuuri outpaced him, letting Yuuri take his hand and pull him out of the woods. They hadn’t gone very far in, so it didn’t take them long to return to the sidewalk, where Misha slipped on one of the icy footprints in their rush to get away, laughing louder as a result. When they were far enough away to feel as if they’d reached safety, they stopped to catch their breath. Misha leaned over with his hands on his knees, giggling through his heavy breathing.
“You should have seen your face!” he said.
Of course, Yuuri would see it as soon as he looked through the footage to edit the video.
“I’m sorry, it was…” Misha couldn’t finish, he was giggling so hard.
He had to sit down in the snow for a few moments to get control of himself, flopping onto his back with his arms and legs spread out. Maybe the sidewalk wasn’t the best place for it, but there wasn’t anyone else around at the moment.
Misha looked up at Yuuri as his laughter finally fizzled out, though a bright smile remained on his face.
“Sorry, we don’t have to do that again,” he reassured him. When Misha could breathe normally again, he picked himself up off the ground and brushed snow off of his clothes. “We can get some coffee or hot chocolate now. Or we can go back to my place if you want and I’ll make it for you there.”

Yuuri stopped running when Misha slipped and stopped to rest, laughing and giggling the whole time. Meanwhile, Yuuri slumped down to his knees in the snow to catch his breath as well, still watching Misha as though he were absolutely insane for thinking this was amusing.
Well, he was sure once he saw his face in the footage he would realize just how amusing it all was. Only not. He definitely didn’t think this was amusing, but he would do what he could to assist Misha in his desire for more views or whatever. As long as it kept Misha safe, and kept Yuuri employed.
He was still gasping for air as Misha finally eased up on the laughter, able to breathe again and back on his feet. Yuuri watched him warily, wondering what the best option would be, but even after having to run out of the forest to save themselves from some monster, Yuuri couldn’t bring himself to be mad about it.
“It’s… okay…” he reassured Misha, clutching to his own chest as he willed himself to breathe. “Your place… please…” Because the less time he was out in the city, the better.
