The grass felt so mellow against the figure’s skin. Almost as if feathers were slowly enveloping the man’s presence. Around him, forest life seemed to flourish. Deep within the Variten region, in a particular forest, lied a figure who seemed to be enjoying a moment of bliss. His silence was soon interrupted when a loud animal screech echoed throughout the forest. The figure flashed open his eyes and sat up. He slowly brought his right knee to his chest and chose to rest his right arm on top of it. He slowly looked around to see if any animal had gotten close to his perimeter. Alas, none could be found. He gave a small sigh of annoyance as he lowered his head a bit. One could easily tell, that this man did not belong here. Just by his appearance, something seemed “odd” about him. The man held medium-length black hair, with tips of emerald green. His pale skin was almost as captivating as his luminous amber iris’s. It could have easily reminded those who peered into them of a snake. The green markings/tattoos that covered his entire right arm seemed to shimmer in the dull atmosphere of the forest. The man wore a white sleeveless shirt with a black collar and dark purple pants. He also adorned dark purple boots to match. To top off his outfit, he wore black and dark turquoise gloves with gold decals and a necklace. Lastly, around his left arm, the man wore a white and gold sleeve with red trimming. It was kind of obvious that this type of man shouldn’t just be sleeping randomly on the ground. Well...that would be true if he were a normal man. Although, this figure was not a man in the slightest. Alatus, the figure in question, was a spirit. A spirit lost in his own ways…

A sign of annoyance covered Alatus’s face. A small and audible, ❝Tch❞ left the man’s mouth. He felt like he could sleep longer but it seems the forest had other ideas in mind. The man reached out both of his arms as he began to stretch. He then rose from his seated position and stretch the rest of his body. Doing this process, allowed his body to slowly wake up as he did. The man began to yawn and as he did so, he covered his mouth slightly as the air began to escape from within him. There is no point in wasting time now, the forest “demanded” him to be awake. I guess he must oblige. Alatus looked around and saw no creature of life. Just vegetation. The temperate atmosphere had also grown quite annoying. How he wished for a much cooler area. How he ended up here, he had no idea. The man then picked a random location and began walking. After some time of walking, Alatus ended up in a different area than he expected. He felt a cooler than normal breeze coming through the forest. So he decided to follow the direction in which it blew. Eventually, Alatus would approach and open at the edge of the forest. As he walked out of the forest, a giant lake seemed to bask in his vision. How wonderful, a scene change.

Alatus walked to the edge of the lake. Since the time was just after sunset, the cool dark waters looked even more pleasant to the eye. Alatus, when he got to the edge of the lake, kneeled down and cupped some water in his hands. He then splashed his face. The cool water against his skin seemed to awaken him. His amber eyes fixated on his reflection in the water. His face, just staring back at him. His tattoo on his forehead seemed to glimmer in the reflection of the water. After a moment of senseless staring into the water, Alatus rose to stand back up. As he did so, something caught his eye. In the middle of the lake was a grand rest area. It seemed to be built of stone or wood. However, he could not know for sure until he got closer. The lights seemed to be burning. ❝It might be nice to sleep under a roof tonight.
❞ He sullenly thought to himself. The man decided to press forward. It seemed the only way to get to the pavilion in the middle was stone platforms that seeped on the water’s surface. Alatus eyed each stone and pressed forward. Moving from one stone platform to the next. This scene would repeat itself until the man reached the pavilion in question. The spirit walked in and took everything in. It was a nicely crafted rest area. You could tell, whoever had constructed this or owned this structure, were people with some influence. Alatus’s eyes then fell onto a small table in the middle of the pavilion. It was stacked with weapons of all shapes and sizes. Alatus’s eyes seemed to linger on the Polearms. He then scoffed to himself. Figures. This place was going to be utilized for an event of some kind. So much for a roof over his head tonight. He stood in silence...alone. He began thinking to himself. It has been a good moment since he had any kind of entertainment..or maybe he was just curious. Maybe he would stay and check out whatever is going to happen. If nothing does happen, at least he had a place to sleep. The man slightly shrugged to himself as he decided on what to do. Now, the question remains...where should he wait. That’s when the idea hit him. Alatus walked to the edge of the pavilion and began to climb the structure. He did this until he got to the top of the roof. He chose to lay on top of the roof and watch the stars. At least this way, he could stay out of sight and enjoy some peace and quiet...that is, if anyone shows up.

User Image Isabella looked at the invitation she was sent as she sighed softly, her ears shifting softly. She looked around for a moment as she had a bad feeling, finding the entire situation a bit weird. How would one of the most powerful families in the area know who she was, and why would they want to talk to her? Even with the bad vibes she was getting, including that this was a trap, she had no way to confirm if this was even their address after all, she felt an odd urge to at least show up. There was the likelihood that people in this area wouldn't be as hostile, though the longer she was in the forest, the higher her anxiety rose as her ears started to swivel to pick up any other sounds.

She paused as she got to a clearing and looked around, her heart beating rather quickly at this point. She stared at the structures floating in the lake, and looked around as her ears shifted and twitched. She thought as she saw a path leading to the large structure, and figured she was meant to go there as she shivered as she was hit by wind coming off the lake's surface. She would follow the stone path, stepping cautiously from not knowing if it was a trap or not, as well as to avoid accidentally slipping and falling in the lake. When she was halfway, she paused when she noticed something odd for a moment and shifted back a bit to try and see the thing better. She approached cautiously as she kept an eye on the roof for a moment, muttering, "I swear..there was a person up there.." She blinked when she saw the table littered with weapons, but figured that made sense. It was supposed to be a demonstration after all. She sighed as she looked around, and found the host wasn't even there. Well this was awkward. She rubbed the back of her head as she looked around, and hummed as she looked at the short sword. She was tempted to pick it up, but given how much influence the group she was meeting had, it would end poorly. For now, she would sit and wait, kinda wishing they provided tea.

User Image A light breeze rustled the locks of Akari's light-pink hair that weren't trapped within the thick bun resting on the back of her head. The soft grass tickled her bare feet as the hem of her kimono lightly grazed the blades behind her. While it wasn't unusual for the young woman to be out and about around this time, this evening, her reasons were out of the ordinary.

Her pale, slender hand reached into the deep red belt that cinched her kimono and retrieved a rather ornate looking piece of paper. Her brow furrowed as her lavender eyes scanned the contents. The Eikomi Spirit family was one of the most prestigious and powerful families in the region that she knew of. While Akari was well-known in her village, especially among the children, there was still nothing special enough about her for such a family to send her an invitation. Surely, there were those more deserving.

She stepped around a bramble of thorns to avoid any marring of her skin and kimono. After a few minutes of more walking, the ground beneath her changed. Smooth stone replaced the ticklish grass beneath her feet and the sound of water caused her long rabbit-like ears to stand alert and twist and move with the various sounds in the area. Within the center of the lake was a large pavilion, unlike any she had seen before. The memory of the invitation told her that this was the place of the meeting. Before stepping closer, she froze upon realising that she was not alone. Perhaps her eyes were deceiving her, but she could have sworn she glimpsed a lone figure lying on the roof. It was quite fortunate that it wasn't about to rain. Then again, perhaps he was one of those who enjoyed being in the rain.

A sound closer to the ground caused Akari's ears to shift to her left, catching sight of a young wolf Spirit. The dim candle lighting cast an orange glow upon the young woman's features. From her expression, she appeared just as uncertain about being here as Akari was. Her purple eyes traveled towards the direction the other spirit was looking in and saw the table holding various weapons. There were swords of various sizes, spears, daggers, and many other melee weapons, but she couldn't help notice that there were no ranged weapons. The weapons also appeared to be very worn, clearing from overuse of training. What did it all mean? Turning to the young spirit nearby, her lips curled into what she hoped was a friendly smile.

With letter in sweaty palms, Miyu stood a ways away from the location, hiding behind a large tree. She never expected to be invited to such an important get together as she was a simple spirit who lived her life in somewhat solitude. She watched as a few others began to gather at the site but she found it hard to make out their faces.

Leaning against the tree trunk, she squinted her blue eyes and took her time to make sure this wasn't some kind of trap. Of course it wasn't a trap, it was hosted by a prestige family who she figured would have honor. After several more anxious minutes, Miyu gathered all her courage and made her way from out of the forest and onto the stone path.

Her shoes clacked against the cold stone but her heartbeat drowned the noise out. Her eyes locked onto a female with pink hair and rabbit like ears. She was beautiful and well groomed, perhaps she was the host. Looking ahead, another female was already there examining what appeared to be weapons and this made Miyu's stomach clench up. If they were going to fight, she was not prepared in the slightest.

From the fog that blanketed the trees lining the water's edge, a figure began to appear, walking
slowly towards the first stepping stones leading to the stone platform near the middle of the lake.
The figure stopped just before the first stone that protruded from the water, to look carefully at the
roofed platform and the candlelight marking it.

"Its almost time, again," the figure spoke quietly to himself, before looking down at his hands. A
small flame erupted from one of his fingers and quickly raced to another on the same hand, before
vanishing. "and I'm sure she'll be looking for the next generation of sparks, like they all
will be."

A moment passed before the figure finally started moving across the stepping stones, though he
never seemed to look down at his feet to ensure their placement; he knew the path well enough to
have it memorised.

"...She's going to be furious with me..." he muttered quietly. He ensured that he kept moving
forward, despite some small wish to turn around and leave altogether.

Alatus’s amber iris’s were fixated on the starry heavens. His eyes shifting from one glowing particle to the next. As if he was searching for some unknown question that lingered in his subconscious. He would continue to do this for some time. Watching the stars. In his solace, it seemed memories of old passed through his head. That long winter. Then images of flames and smoke slowly covering the night sky. The screams. How they were...constantly in his head. Almost like a tv channel, the images shifted. Pools of blood. The stench of corpses rotting. How it penetrated his nostrils. An audible ❝Tch❞ left the man’s mouth as he slammed a closed fist on the roof. In doing so, the man was slowly brought back into reality. Not being lost in his memories anymore, the man began to hear noises from beneath. It seemed like his hunch was right. Something was happening here. Of course, that would happen. The one night he found a roof to sleep under, some sort of gathering was occurring. Alatus slightly rolled his golden eyes in a slightly frustrated tone. Even though he was frustrated at the situation, he could not help to be slightly curious. Maybe, one peek wouldn’t hurt. The man slowly crawled to the edge of the roof and peered his head over the ledge, looking inside the pavilion. Of course, by doing so, he was looking at everyone upside down and only his head would be visible, at least this should solve his curiosity.

As the spirit looked into the pavilion, he would noticed a couple of figures. The first figured he noticed was a girl with brown hair and brown….dog ears? No, wolf…...possibly a cat. Either way, she seemed to sit by herself and was waiting for whatever event was going on. The next figure that was noticed, was a female adorned with pink hair. She also held rabbit ears that protruded from her scalp. From the way she was looking, it was possible she was analyzing the brown-haired one. Maybe she knew something about the event that was supposed to take place here. From the way she dressed, you could tell she was from some sort of village. Following her, was another brown-haired woman, but this one was dressed in green. This one, after entering, from the way she stood, it was possible that she too was now analyzing the rabbit female. However, no one has yet to say a word. After a moment, another female approached. This one enveloped with all sorts of kimonos and dressings. This woman, from the way she dressed, she seemed to overly endorse herself. However, unlike the others, she was not afraid to speak. She approached the rabbit-like spirit and seemed to introduce herself. The black-haired and overly endorsed woman seemed to have some horns sprouting from her scalp as well. How interesting. Then something from the distance caught Alatus’s attention. From the fog came another figure. Male...possibly? Black hair from the looks. It seems as he approached, no one had introduced themselves so maybe he was just another participant in whatever was supposed to be happening.

As what looked to be the first phase of this meeting seem to conclude, nothing appeared to be interesting. Although, Alatus could not help but eye that table filled with weapons once more. It seems like a fight of some sort was supposed to happen. Maybe training? Who knows. However, right now, the events that occurred did not hold his attention nor his caring for them. Alatus picked his head back up and rolled his body away from the ledge. He proceeded to place himself back where he was. He could tell from the small indention he had left when he slammed his fist on the roof. He sat cross-legged and sighed. He slowly brought his attention to the tattoos on his arms and stared at them. The green markings seemed to shimmer in the atmosphere. Alatus could feel his irritation slowly brewing inside of him. He hated being this close to anyone. So he closed his eyes and just focused on his breathing and clearing his thoughts. If he just stayed on the roof, he wouldn’t have to interact with anyone and once they leave, he would finally have a place to sleep. At least, that was what he was hoping for. Who knows? With all the weapons down there, they may even start fighting and killing each other. If they did that, at least he could have some sort of entertainment before falling back asleep.

User Image While waiting to see if the Wolf Spirit would react to her, Akari's attention was pulled once more by the sound of more footsteps approaching. She turned, her kimono swishing behind her to see a young woman approach the pavillion. Akari tilted her head, forming a curious smile on her lips, silently wondering if this young woman was also called here. Her brown hair sat atop her shoulders and her clothing was of various shades of light and dark greens with a dark blue skirt and blue and silver boots. The overall outfit was simple, yet flattering, matching very well with her beautiful, blue eyes.

The young woman's gaze went from Akari to the weapon. Akari could almost swear that she saw worry on the woman's face and opened her mouth to reassure her, even though she also didn't know why they were here. But before she could, the familiar swishing and rustling of a kimono approached and Akari's attention was once again pulled away.
It appeared that another woman had joined them. However, unlike the two other women who were dressed in simple, yet still lovely clothing, she appeared to have gone all out with her attire. Her kimono was of one of the most elaborate designs that Akari had ever seen. The dress trained out much longer than Akari's did and was black with reds, silvers, and gold woven in many intricate patterns. Akari's had thought her own kimono was beautiful for such an occasion, but it was nothing compared to what this dark beauty before her wore. Horns protruded from her black tresses, which hung loose, far below her waist.

Yet, despite the woman's beauty, Akari felt a nervous twinge in her stomach as the stranger's eyes scanned everyone in the pavillion before lingering on Akari. She pushed back the anxiety she felt and offered a smile to the beautiful woman. "I'm Hasegawa Akari." Her voice had the softest hint of soprano when she spoke.

A loud thump atop the roof forced Akari's head upwards. Just like she had assumed a few minutes earlier, there was someone up there. As they most likely had their reasons for being up there, Akari made the decision not to call out to them. As Akari was wondering how many more people would join in on this meeting tonight, she looked towards the path that led to the pavillion and saw a dark-haired figure approaching. From the confident stride in his steps, it appeared he had walked this path before. Perhaps he was the one who had organized this meeting?

With a brief glance at the others, she stepped forward, adjusting her kimono and smiled at the stranger. "Good evening. Are you the one who called us all here?"

A hand carefully came down on the tiles beside Alatus, giving off the slightest clink as a tile's edge touched the row below
it. A figure had come to a halt on the roof's side after having made some movement, and the tail of his coat came to rest
on the terracotta.

He seemed not to acknowledge personal space, or the need for any introduction, and simply, abruptly, appeared before
Alatus, having obviously climbed the side of the roof while the Spirit's attention was elsewhere.

He had non-threatening body language, but an exceedingly abrupt arrival.

"You think they'll notice if a few more of us climb up here?" the man suddenly questioned, calling for the Spirit's
answer.

User Image Isabella's attention went from the table of weapons to a rabbit girl as she heard her come up the path. She looked the other girl over and have a soft smile as a response to get smiling at her. She watched as more people arrived, staying silent for now as she rescanned them, thinking. She looked over at the first male that arrived, another spirit that mostly kept to himself as she hinged lightly, her ears twitching.

The ghost arriving and commenting on no one bringing gifts had her ears shift as she thought. She smirked Sicily with that, and hummed lightly. "I'll keep that in mind next time I'm invited." She blinked as she heard a soft noise on the roof and looked up. So someone was hanging out in the roof. From what she could tell it was another spirit, so she didn't have to worry. Siel's scent showing up put her on edge though, mostly from it appearing out of no where. She noticed something was off with him, and stared for a moment. She couldn't really tell why it was off though. She would shrug it off for now, and at least attempt to appear normal, silently thinking, 'they may just be sweaty..'

With more people arriving, Miyu felt less out of place but only slightly. She shuffled to a corner of the building near the weapons and eyed the daggers for a moment before looking at the woman with the huge badonkers. Her cheeks suddenly grew red and she looked down at her own chest, comparing their size to the lady with confidence. At least now the attention was going to be on that woman and not her.

Her eyes moved towards Isabella, a wolf looking spirit with a petite frame, surely she was friendly? Miyu took a gulp of air before moving closer to her. She didn't make eye contact as she spoke up.
"Hi, I'm Miyu. This is pretty crazy huh? All these weapons and new faces." She was not a extrovert person so talking to strangers was a challenge.

As the stranger came closer to the large stone platform, he was greeted by one of those who had
already gathered there. Her question threw him off a little, though, and he stopped suddenly on
one of the stepping stones, looking towards the pink-haired Spirit in confusion.

"Me? S-she told you that I--" he began a question in response, but quickly cut himself off as he
realised the situation. "She isn't here yet, is she." he dimly answered, without any upturn in his
tone to suggest it was a question.

"That's... unlike her." he looked down at his feet for the first time in minutes as he lept off the
final stepping stone and onto the platform proper.

"She's normally very early to these things."

The stranger could now be seen clearly, thanks to the candlelight on the platform, and the fact he was
no longer passing through the fog that blanketed the lake's surface.

He was tall, well-built, and had fair skin. A red streak had been colored into a lock of his hair on one
side and his eyes were exceptionally fierce.

No animal features were visible on him, and his clothes were of a human style found in the Variten
Region's Capital, featuring thin treated leather and cloth bound with dense stitching and small metal
bolts and buckles. It looked vaguely military, but practical.

"There's so few this year..." he commented, as he looked around at the others standing nearby.
"There were three times this many last year, and double that the year before..."

As if picking up a sound from above, he tilted his head a little upwards, taking note that one or two of
the arrivals may be on the roof.

"What the hell is it with new arrivals and the damn roof?" he thought to himself, recalling a similar
situation from each of two of his last visits.

Realising the pink-haired Spirit was still looking towards him, he noticed he had failed to return her
greeting, or introduce himself. It felt as though the time for a greeting had been missed, but he could
still at least tell the girl his name.

"I'm Leth." he raised a hand just slightly, without the arm even becoming horizontal before it returned to his side. "And I wasn't
invited, but, I'll be staying for the meeting."

User Image Akari's expression scrunched slightly in confusion and her thoughts reeled. Who wasn't here yet? Were they the ones responsible for the mission? She shifted her body slightly so that she could comfortably turn her head to look at her fellow invitees, then back to the figure who had now stepped into the dim candlelight, allowing Akari to better see him.

His lack of animal features weren't cause for concern. But she couldn't help glancing down at his clothing and her eyebrows furrowed thoughtfully. She couldn't remember where she had seen that kind of apparel before, but in the back of her mind, she could have sworn she'd seen it worn by humans. Thoughts of concern rose within her, but she managed to push them away as the man spoke, interrupting her thoughts.

"I'm Akari." She smiled a little and lifted her right arm slightly into a tiny wave, before letting it drop down to drape across her torso and grip her left arm; something she often did when she felt a sense of nervousness.

Kokuyoseki's voice addressing Leth broke through her nervousness and Akari could see that the young woman had once again lifted her ornate fan to her face, giving off an air of mysteriousness.
