She had the decency to look like she was in trouble for telling his sister about how they met. "I don't mind how you were then. My stubborn boyfriend." Riya was always affection with Ergon. Even when he was a brat. "I do like where our meeting led, if that counts." If he thought she was leaving then he was mistaken. She was too smitten with him. "As long as I spend time with you then its fine. I will try my best not to kill your hard work." Iriyana reached across to grab his hand and give a squeeze.

Ergon chuckled and shook his head. "You are an amazing woman," he mused affectionately. She always managed to fill him with that warm and fuzzy feeling, and he was indebted to the support she had given him over the years... She deserved so much more...
He squeezed her hand back and let his expression take on a more playful look. "In that case, I hope you will enjoy my next surprise for you." He speared another veggie and gently gestured to her with it. "Once we finish eating, of course. How does that sound?"

"I know." She couldn't help but be a little conceited there. Riya chuckled a little and grinned at him. He signed up for dealing with her attitude so he was partially stuck with it. It also didn't help that she'd been raised to be confident and Ergon was a constant confidence boost on top of that. The man made her feel special all the time. Another surprise? Her brows rose slightly as she eyed him. "Another surprise?" Instantly she was trying to think of what else he could have done. Her eyes went around the house. Had he fixed something else and she failed to notice? Had he bought something and she didn't realize it was there? Iriyana truly searched to make sure she hadn't missed anything. When nothing stood out she brought her eyes back to her boyfriend. "Hm, I don't see anything so.. does that mean you're moving in?" She was a bit hopeful there. After all she'd offered for him to live with her. Was that the other surprise?

Watching her search around for the surprise, Ergon had to laugh. "Hey, I said after we finish eating!" Still, the hope in Riya's voice when she asked about him moving in was almost too much to bear. With his plate mostly empty anyway, he smiled and pushed it away. "Well, that was not exactly the surprise I was thinking of.. but yes." He rose from his chair and paused a moment to run his tongue over his teeth to make sure there no awkward scraps remaining. With that settled, he stood next to Riya with a big smile and held his hands out to help her stand as well. "What do you think? Are you certain that you are ready to have me around so much?" Perhaps a redundant set of questions, but it still would be nice to hear~

With the small scolding she got she gave an exaggerated pout and stuffed a mouthful of food into her mouth. Riya was trying to hurry. She had just shoved another mouthful in when Ergon mentioned that he was moving in. It made her stop mid chew and look at him with wide eyes. Of course he'd say that when her mouth was full! She watched him get up and did her best to finish what was in her mouth quickly. One hand flapped in the air quickly as her other took his offered one to help her stand. Free hand covered her mouth as she swallowed. "Are you serious!?" Her tone should have been enough to say she was excited. "You mean I get to cuddle you every night and try to convince you not to leave our bed every morning? Are you certain you can handle that?" She was licking her lips to make sure she had no food left on them and grinning.

Noticing his timing mistake, he smiled apologetically but also held a playful glimmer in his eyes. He didn't catch her off guard too often like that, and it was cute to see her physical excitement speaking so loudly. It helped the unconscious knot in his stomach to release just enough...
"Now that you have put it that way, this might be more difficult than I had imagined," he said with a heavy sigh as though debating his decision. "It seems I will have to make sure we have something to get up for... perhaps something like building our life together.." Ready to choke on the anticipation, he dropped down to one knee and held up a shining ring to reveal the true surprise. A single gem of golden color was set smoothly into the silver band and shimmered in the light. He'd practiced much restraint to stop himself from ordering something much more glamorous, knowing Riya would likely never wear something completely encrusted with jewels...
He had never felt so confident and so terrified all at once in his life. "Iriyana, will you marry me..?"

The heavy sigh made her playfully smack at his arm. "Oh no.. Don't you dare take it back n-.." Riya stopped as he spoke again and she gained a confused look for a second. Her eyes grew large as he dropped down and instinctively she grabbed onto one of his arms like she might pull him back up but again she stopped. Her eyes went to the ring he pulled out and then to his face and then back. "What're you-...?" And then the question came. Riya stopped breathing for a second. Possibly a full minute, she wasn't sure. "Ergon.." She whispered. "You better not be joking with me right now.." Slowly her hands went to either side of his face so she could kiss him. And kiss him. The man was practically showered with kisses since words couldn't really escape or explain the pure elation she felt. And if the kisses weren't enough the hug that practically had her tackling him the rest of the way to the floor should be.

Whether it was one second or one minute, the time dragged out at a painstakingly slow pace. The ring was heavy, and the knot in his stomach started to tighten again. Ah, she speaks! "Joke? I would never joke about-" The touch to his face silenced him, eyes eating up the sight in front of him. Mmm, and then the kisses. Was this a yes? It was probably safe to assume this was a yes.
He nearly yelped when their weight shifted, one arm flapping out to brace against the table even as his backside hit the floor. While it was a less-than-graceful scene, he couldn't help laughing and hugging his arms around Riya's waist. "Can I make sure it fits you?" he asked with a chuckle around the kisses, waving the ring next to their heads.

His reaction to their small fall to the floor had her laughing. Her cheeks hurt from smiling by the time she heard him ask if he could see if the ring fit. "Yes! Yes!" Riya gave him another kiss then did her best to sit still. Her hand was held up for him to try the ring. The permanent smile that had made it onto her face made her glow just a little. Her gaze looked at the ring then Ergon's face and their it stayed. The ring was nice and she loved it but what she was really getting was the man in front of her. All of him. Forever. The daily happiness she felt with him as her boyfriend just doubled. And she meant what shed said earlier about the snuggles. The longer she stared at him the more her eyes started to tear up and before long she was crying.

Ergon felt the happiest that he had in... in a long time. He was excited for himself, certainly. He been thinking about this day for what felt like ages, and was naturally looking forward to wait laid ahead for him. As silly as it might sound, the real surprise, and the true joy he felt, came from Riya's reaction to it all. To see her smiling and laughing with such pure joy radiating off of her was unexpectedly emotional. It had been about making himself happy; now though, he saw the true happiness was coming from making Riya happy...
Chuckling lightly still, he slid the ring around her finger. "How does it feel?" he asked, gently dabbing at her tears with a handkerchief he pulled from a pocket with his other hand.

"Like my heart is going to burst." She said without thinking. He started to dab at the tears and she wrinkled her nose at him. Riya hadn't meant to do the waterworks but she couldn't help it. He'd taken the time to make dinner, fix the greenhouse, and still thought to ask her such a question. Not that the man needed to ask! She would have thought the answer to that one obvious. He could have suggested they get married when they were young teens and she would have said yes. "Oh you mean the... " She gave a small snort of laughter. "Its perfect." She moved her gaze away from his face to really look at the ring he put on her finger and smiled. It was shiny but it wasn't gaudy. It sparkled just enough. "It really is."

His head cocked slightly at the unexpected response, needing a moment to figure out what the miscommunication had been. Laughing as well, he slid his legs back under himself so that he could stand, arms wrapping around Riya to bring her up with him. Enough sitting on the kitchen floor! "I am glad to hear that. I get the feeling that you wouldn't take it back off to let me get it fixed if it had been the wrong size." He took her hand that had the shining new ring on it and raised it to press a light kiss to the back. "Riya.. I love you so much.." He knew that was something that he definitely did not say enough. There was a lot of ground getting covered that evening!

She grinned at him as he stated he wouldn't get the ring back if it were the wrong size. "Smart man." Riya kept the smile on her face as he kissed her hand. "I know. I love you too, Ergon." She pulled her hand away from him so that she could slip her arms around him and be close to him. "I never thought..." When she'd come home this hadnt been on her list of possibilities. At most she was hoping for him moving in and at the least she hoped he'd at least stay the night with her. Riya's cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so much. "I'm so happy. Ergon. I mean that."

When Riya pressed close, Ergon firmly wrapped his arms around her slim frame. She fit so perfectly right there... it was making his eyes burn a little, thoguh he was able to keep the sentimental tears at bay. After all, he was a man! ..Still, he had the most affectionate smile on his lips and kissed the top of his girlfr- his fiancé's head.
It was real now.. they would soon be married.. "Me, too," he replied softly, slowly trailing his kisses down over Riya's temple and over her cheek. "Start thinking about what sort of wedding you would like to have. Whatever you want." Weddings could get quite ceremonious in Zena, but he suspected that something a little more intimate was going to be Riya's preference. Smirking lightly, the kisses found the end of the line when they locked over Riya's lips tenderly. His Riya. His wife-to-be.

She had to pause at that one. What kind of wedding she would want. Riya wasn't sure what she'd want really. Obviously something small, more family and friends rather than the whole village. She would have to get a dress. That thought made her blush slightly. Iriyana had always worn pants no matter what. When he kissed her he pulled her from her thoughts and she smiled at him. Leaning into it she pulled him closer. When the kiss was over she grinned at him. "Would you mind if I let your mother help me plan? I'm sure she'd like to help me pick out a dress." Since family meant a lot to both of them she figured involving them to some extent would be nice.
