Leander glanced over at her, confused for a second, but the smile only strengthened when she wandered off. He trailed after her, eyes slipping from her to the mummy. "Wow. When I die, kinda makes me want to just be cremated."
He was taking in the small details, taking it everything.
"Weirds me out that one day someone could pull me out of the ground and put me on display. I'd like to be remembered for this," he gestured to his face. "Although, if we're being honest, I don't know that I'll ever do anything important enough for anyone to care about me after death. Who was this guy, a king or something?"

"I never want to be found after I'm gone." She'd thought about it a lot. She thought about a lot when she was at her lowest. "I don't want anyone to find me. I don't want to be a bother." She didn't sound depressed or anything about it, just stated it matter-of-factly. "You, though..." She hummed, glancing after Leander. "....I would be sad about news if you passed. Not because of your face, but you've got a really good... head on your shoulders. You... help. People will care." Reading over the sign with her good eye, Rin shook her head. "It seems not a king, but a higher ranking Egyptian. Still important though." She looked at the mummy, a small look on her face. "These people didn't think they'd be dug up and put on display. They died normally, were cared for after death the normal way and sealed up..." She put her hands on the rope to get a better look, leaning over the rope a bit. "Not completely terrible looking for being several hundred years old."

"Mm. Is he your type?" Leander asked, but the grin on his face said he wasn't serious about it.
He crossed his arms over his chest and let his eyes slide over the craftsmanship of it all. The idea that this was a dead person on display was sort of an odd afterthought.
"...I'd be sad if something happened to you, too. Not because of your face, but because you've got a good heart in your chest." He winked, seeming in good enough spirits about it all. "It says a lot that you'd be more worried about inconveniencing other people, though. But I wouldn't worry about it. Those are problems for the living. Someone might be happy to have an answer. It's hard, the alternative. Wondering what happened to someone? ...I think knowing is easier. But, the better option is, we should just live forever and never have to worry about any of it. We'll look after each other, yeah? ...I'll have to invite you any time I hear about a mummy coming into town."

She was not going to cry because of a few kind words spoken to her. There were not tears springing to the eye she still had and obscuring her vision. Just like she didn't turn around and wipe at her face before moving along to the next part of the exhibit. In just a few short moments he somehow unmanned her and Rin didn't know how to respond to that. Sniffling and digging her palm into her eye, Rin cleared her throat to cover any other noises that might happen. "He's much too old to be my type." Her voice was tight with the lingering onslaught of sudden emotion. "Some of this jewelry though is very pretty."

Leander caught the movement but he explained it away as dust. They were in a museum, after all.
...But then, there was something else about it, something her voice, the way she moved.
He wondered how much she'd been hurt, and how long she'd been alone for.
He didn't call her out on it, he gave her some space and let her think that she was doing a good job hiding it. "Oh, fair. He's too old for me, too. I can't say I couldn't be convinced to marry older for money, but." He scratched at his chin. "I guess I'd have to draw the line somewhere. That necklace is gorgeous. Wish they made things like that, now. Not that I could afford it. Oh. Maybe with a rich husband, though."

She let out a laugh at his words. It felt awkward, and sounded even weirder to her, but Rin couldn't help it. Sniffling a little more, she cleared her throat and rolled her eye. "Older men are supposed to be better. More wordly. They take care of their younger ...others." She couldn't say lovers, but toys didn't sound right in this context either, so she settled at others. "I wonder how heavy it is though. If they wore it every day or if it's just ceremonial? I think older jewelry would be a little more heavy than todays. I have very little to compare it with. Most of my necklaces are sewn into the shirts I buy." "And my bracelets are mainly plastic. I suppose my earrings are real, but they're just ...silver, I think? Not that expensive. What about you? Any love for glittery things?"

Leander glanced down at his jeans, worn thin in places that, thankfully, looked fashionable enough that he wasn't ashamed of it.
"Eh, if I had the money I might buy something more practical. These boots were like three hundred dollars. Which just about killed me, if we're being honest, but they've lasted for six years and are still in great condition, and I wear them everywhere. But, if you're paying a few hundred dollars for shoes, I'd hope you were getting use out of them. I don't live a very luxurious lifestyle. I've got a suit, but you need those when you're doing photography at fancy events. My cameras were expensive, car maintenance. I don't know. I'm making it work, but I see shiny things and get nervous. Afraid of breaking them," he explained. "...I'm lucky that I'm doing well enough. Business has been okay, enough to afford an apartment for my sister and I. But I used to live out of my car, so."
He didn't seem ashamed or worried about it; it was just a fact.

Well... Now she felt kind of guilty. While she wasn't wearing high end all the time, she had quite a few of the 'higher' quality products. Rin pushed a hand through her hair again before nodding. "I... understand that. To an extent." She had money. She was careful with her coin her whole life. Rin even had enough to put aside when she was forced to change everything about herself when she was corrupted. Thank goodness her paranoia had led her to having a cash nest egg she'd transferred into a bank account in her new name. She wandered further into the exhibit to actually say she saw it instead of just using it as an excuse to see him again. "Are you getting hungry?"

Leander followed after, making an effort to look at everything he could while still trotting close behind.
"Oh, I'm always hungry. Gotta say, seeing all these guys, skin and bones, I think I could do a little better for himself. You want to finish looking at the exhibit and dip out of her and get something to eat?"
He seemed open minded, interested in anything she wanted to do. He was out of the house, away from work, and in good company. What more was there to life?"

"That's what I was going to ask, yes." A smile tugged on her lips as he basically did the work for her this time. Rin dusted off her outfit, but didn't seem to hurry as she continued along, drinking everything in. Now and again she would pause to read a sign and then made a little noise. "Since you stole the idea, you can pick what we eat. The only thing I'm not very fond of is overly greasy burgers." Oof, she couldn't stand greasy burgers. She knew they were supposed to have grease, but when it starts dripping down her hand and arm while she's trying to eat, it's too much and enough to put her off her meal completely.

Leander couldn't help but laugh. "Too bad, they're my favorite," he said, with no real seriousness to the claim. He didn't seem broken hearted in the slightest about it.
"Come on," he said, and hooked his arm with hers to lead her out of the museum. "I know a few good places. You can tell me if any one sounds better, they're all on the same strip, about a block or two away from here. I'm in the mood for nachos, but if you're worried about grease, maybe we should avoid those. If you've got nothing against pizza, though, there's a good place right next door."
It didn't really fit with the theme of the day, but he supposed it didn't really have to.
It would be a nice ending to a nice day, and that always meant there was room for more.
