Tac tucked away the last bite of his small meal, eyes lifting to view the sudden appearance of light. While his face didn't give away much, his mind was alight with pleasure to see how far along Finn had already come with his studies. Still, as the skill progressed even further, perhaps a tiny smile of pride could have been seen. It was tempting to compare it to his own progress from his youth, working so hard to get ahead in the medical field so that he would have to depend on no one.
"There is much that you did not have to concern yourself with before. However, I like to think their worth is better than most of the things that you no longer have to worry about anymore." Scrounging for food and broken bones versus trying to control his skills seemed like a worthwhile trade. "Besides, you have proper guidance now. It won't be long before you're wondering how you had so little control in the first place."

"He said if I'd been born Oban I could have served the royal family." His tutor had talked at length about it, actually, and seemed almost sorrowful that he couldn't parade the talented street rat before the King himself. "A yaeli is no good to the military, but I don't care. I'll go where I want and do what I want." When he met Tac's gaze head on the same fire that had always burned inside Finn met that spark of pride in his brother and ignited.
No longer would he be scrounging for food and if he did Finn would have the skills necessary to make it temporary. "As soon as I can I'm leaving Oba and I don't plan on coming back." This country held far too many bad memories for Finn to ever call it home. Truthfully he wasn't sure where he would go, but that was a question for later.

Tac's lips pressed lightly, mind briefly distracted by Finn's words. If he'd been born Oban? "As though being an Oban is any better than being anything else," he snorted. Still, it was almost amusing to think of this scrappy young man standing at the side of the 'royal' family. Never mind the racial difference; they were just of such opposite worlds~
"Well, the world is much bigger than either the Yaeli or Oban people care to admit. You could go just about anywhere," he mused, standing to pop his back a couple times, "and to think, I was just getting used to you." The playful tease was strange on his tongue, yet had also slid off so easily. "If you would, do me the kindness of letting me know before you run off for parts unknown?"

Damn straight. What made Obans any better than the Yaeli? Brighter crystals and hair that looked like fresh blood? If anything that should be off putting!
Pulling his texts back in front of him Finn couldn't help giving an almost, dare he do it, soft smile. "Don't get too excited; you're stuck with me for a while and for spirits sake leave a few coin out tomorrow! If I'm paying for repairs I won't be able to get lunch."
Brazen as he was, Finn wasn't about to go back to theft when he had resources at his disposal. That is to say, Tac's savings. Still, someday that would be gone from him and he needed to stand on his own. So, best not to get too comfortable in...whatever this was. Focusing on his studies once again, Finn buried himself in the texts.

Tac sighed his usual dismissive sigh and waved his hand. "I will temper my anticipation then." He gave the table a small tap to show he'd hear about the lunch money and headed off for his room. He was about ready to pass out.
Of course.. he found himself pausing to watch Finn study a little from the cover of the doorway. It truly was amazing to see how far Finn had come. They owed each other nothing... but it was satisfying to be able to have this together.
