Even before he'd said it Nao had begun to realize Yu wasn't great around others. There was a lot of evidence she'd started to notice to suggest as much this far into their brief encounter. Perhaps she'd misjudged, and no sooner had the thought crossed her mind he'd offered her an assortment of beverages and brought her a book he'd purchased recently. Though she thought it rude to comment further on the mater of awkwardness.
"Uh, I, Are you sure? Am I not intruding?" She wasn't quite sure what to say. No one usually invited her in for anything, it was strange and somewhat unsettling. they usually either only said what they needed, told her to leave or just simply ignored her. All of which she was used to.
"Tea would be adequate, thank you." she said as she perused the book she'd been given. She'd read this one before. Then again she'd read a lot of books on many different subjects but detective novels were always her favorite. Though she wasn't really sure how to continue the conversation anymore than the basics.
"Quite obvious is it?" she said in response to his comment about novels. he seemed perceptive for someone who didn't spend a lot of time with others.

Yu had begun to move as soon as it sounded remotely like Naoto was going to say yes. Even if he'd said no, a little tea wouldn't go amiss. All this excitement, he could use a drink himself. Normally, his life here was so mundane. He fished, he gathered, he gardened, he read the same books over and over or he just walked aimlessly through town to see what was going on. Never did he actually have someone over. He wasn't quite sure what to do other than just serve drinks and maybe some snacks. If he had any snacks. When it was just you all the time, what did you need with baking a lot of food? He just cooked or baked what he needed for the moment and that was it. He didn't want any of the food to just spoil before he got a chance to finish it off. He supposed he could start baking more often, now, just in case this happened, again. Could always just give the leftovers to his neighbors.
By the time the question reached Yu's brain, he'd already had a kettle filled with water and set on the stove. Lighting a match, he carefully placed it under the logs to light the kindle. He closed the door and glanced back at the other Kitsu, a puzzled expression on his face. "What would you be intruding on?" Hadn't he offered? He was sure he did and his memory wasn't just hiccupping. His memory normally was pretty good. Rising back n two legs, Yu searched through his cupboards for the sugar, milk, and cups, placing everything one would need for making a cup of tea onto the table. There he stood while he waited for the water to boil, both paws on the surface. "That you like detective novels? I assumed so, since you asked for them specifically and don't seem as interested in the rest of the shelf."
