Ai tried desperately to focus on one sip at a time. If she could just keep her mind on it then the laceration to her chest would fade, but it seemed like every time her throat would bobble her torso constricted. At one point she nearly choked on the water itself and in that moment she knew enough was enough.
When she could stand it no more Ai leaned back against the wall, the bedroll pressing against her lower back. The process may have been agony, but at the very least her throat no longer burned. Somewhere along the line her dreads had flopped over her face and with an irritated huff Ai weakly flicked her head, tossing them back to their proper side.
"No soup....I'll just be sick." It was much less a dig at anything the shifter had prepared as it was an astute observation. The more she moved the more nauseous Ai became and she feared that having food in her stomach would only upset things.
Taking a deep breath, Ai tried to slowly worm her way back down onto the cot.

Lucijah just hoped that this had been a dose of reality for the Alkidike. If she couldn't handle drinking water, or eating soup, how did she expect to make it to Oba for... whatever nefarious purpose she had? Lucijah hummed in thought at that statement, but sat back and finished the rest of the water, setting the cup down, to the side.
She made no move to help Ai this time, but did hover close, ready to catch her if she started to slip or fall. "I know you don't believe me, much, but... I'm not gonna keep you here as a captive or anything. Once your arms work, I'll give you back your swords and let you be on your way. But- you're welcome to stick around until you're all healed up, too." She let that statement hang in the air between them, then gestured towards a bag to the side, smirking softly, "You want something for pain? You liked it a lot the last time, it put you right to sleep!"

It took a while, but eventually Ai was somewhat settled back onto her palette. Her clothing had ridden up, the bedroll was now under her neck instead of her back, but if she cared she didn't show it. The act itself had drained what remaining vestiges of energy she had left. If she couldn't even handle this much how was she supposed to fight when the time was right? The shifter could put a pillow over her face right now and with minimal effort smother Ai where she lay.
"As soon as I can...." When a spike of pain rocketed through her arm she hissed, damn near biting off her lower lip in the process. "I'm going to Oba." She didn't care if she had to hobble there; the moment she was able to get off this pallet on her own she was gone.
And that statement! Ai couldn't help grinding her teeth against one another before closing her eyes and rolling her head back. "Yes," She snarled. "I would like something for pain." Her pride may have been high, as high as her pain tolerance even, which only went to show how much torture it was just to stay awake.

To Oba? Lucijah barely resisted the urge to snort with derision at that. The woman had broken out into a sweat over just this - and honestly, anyone else would probably not have been able to even sit up, with that wound on their stomach. Lucijah had no expectations that she'd be able to get out of that pallet anytime soon.
She had opened up her home to a real beastly woman. A real charming piece of work.
Lucijah nodded. The milder stuff was the tea the healer had left behind - but what they'd been using was a ground up paste that they smeared in the alkidike's gums that seemed to put her out pretty fast. So, she went to collect the packet, carefully measuring out the items - grinding them up with the mortar and pestle she'd been left for this purpose.
Then, she returned to the alkidike. "It goes in your mouth. You can swallow it or just suck it against the top of your mouth, like chew bark."
Instead of risking her fingers, which she was almost sure the alkidike would try to bite off, she offered it up on the end of a utensil - letting the woman take the mouthful of leaves, then sat back again.
She should change all the bandages while she slept - she had a feeling, while awake, the woman would fight her on anything she did.

It was enough to just lay back and listen to the other woman go about her business. Under normal circumstances Ai would have tried to keep at least one eye open, ever ready for an attack, but at the moment she was just trying to stop the room from spinning. Had she ever really felt this bad in her life? Sure she'd taken injuries before, but never to this extent.
Only when the shifter started speaking did she crack open an eye and offered a frown in return for the instructions. Why don't you go chew on a blade and choke on it. Instead of saying what her mind so desperately screamed, Ai leaned forward and took the medicine into her mouth.
The texture was grainy, at best, and bitter to suckle. Yet, as much as she would prefer to swallow it, Ai couldn't find the strength to do. So instead she settled for sucking on it as much as she could before finally passing into oblivion.
