Sterling was a physically affectionate person though, so though he was briefly caught off guard he didn’t seem particularly flustered by it--as long as it didn’t earn Yu’s ire. He had to briefly consider if it was something he should keep a secret or if it was something was just expected in this house. He held Penelope for a moment longer before he set her on the ground next to the larger dog and gave them both a quick pet atop the head.
It felt strange to follow Yu for pajamas, so he lingered in the kitchen. “It’s all right,” he insisted. “You two take your time. I know when I come home I like a little time to get settled and adjusted. I’m going to start a bit of tea.” And hover near the oven, because he absolutely trusted Yu in all things food related, but there was just something nice about being near a warm stove that brought him a bit of comfort.
Chocolate milk had been mentioned, and that was easy enough; he didn’t need to know the kitchen to make that, and he could only assume that wasn’t intruding on Yu’s space to do so. He busied himself with making some, breathing a little sigh of relief and allowing himself to relax a little more.
