He had a hard time recalling any happy memories in fact/ Now at least he had a friend and a damiliar. The nahii's would stay down here though, they did not like the light. For which he could not balame them, they belonged down here but perhaps he didn't.
"We should probably go soon, someone may decide to forage over here, as unlikely as that would be sometimes the young ones do get brave."

Well he wasn't going to put forward an argument for that. It was very dark, creepy and a bit eel infested but at least no one had been bitten!
They stayed as stealthy as possible once they had said a fond fareell to their respective ahii's which looked a bit confused at their departure.
They wouldn't like the surface any more than he liked it down here.
He breathed a relieved sigh when light could again penetrate to the depth they were at. he plucked a few helpful resources while they were leaving, waste not, want not after all.

He felt rather torn between two worlds, two extremes; his former home was dark, familiar, dangerous and potentially quite painful, whereas the other was foreign, bright, colorful happy.
He was quite put out that he had to dance between they covered in layers of stress that only weeks of finely honed meditation would relieve.
He would have to face his family one day. He would not continue to live like this indefinitely. It wasn't fair to himself or Ikaika.

When they were again on the blessed shoreline, Ikaika again clapped his friend on his as yet, narrow shoulders, the young moakai had a lot of filling out to do yet.
"You did it Kaiko, you have more of a claim now on your Mother's family then even her, because you are more brave and determined then both of them put together. You will be free I promise."

"I bloody hope so Ikaika, it has not been easy," he turned to embrace the other boy. Catching him off guard, he held Ikaika and he cried for the world he could not have. For all the wrongs and lovely motived that had come to control his life.
At least he had one person on his side.
The thought brought him a lot of peace.
Ikaika would be there
When the time came for war.
